Borealis 0.9a

Borealis 0.9a

Borealis provides a better feel through use of the subtle aural notifications. more>>
Borealis provides a "better feel" through use of the subtle aural notifications.
The goal of this sound theme is to provide "better feel" through use of the subtle aural notifications. The test I always have in my mind while designing the desktop sounds is to imagine having half-dozen (or more) computer stations in the same office or studio and consider whether their simultaneous use (and resulting desktop sounds) would pose as distraction on users and their productivity. Therefore, in order to minimize the "distraction factor" this theme associates many of the common desktop events with brief, mostly non-pitched, but nonetheless pleasing sound sources (a.k.a. effects).
All of the sounds included have been composed (if applicable), recorded, and mastered by me (although a few of them bear resemblance to other OSs sounds). Some of them are leftovers from my previous compositional and production endeavors, while others are entirely new creations.
All sounds are designed and mixed at CD-quality (stereo, 16-bit, 44.1KHz). Ogg version is distributed as 192Kbit stereo files.
Main features:
- Includes sounds for:
- KDE WM
- KDE System Notifications
- Kdevelop
- Kopete
- KDE Sysguard
- KMail
- Konsole
- Proxy configuration
- K3b (missing 1 sound)
- 4 startup sounds
- 2 exit sounds
- Automated installer and uninstaller
Enhancements:
- Couple improvements to the install and uninstall scripts (thanks to Kirk Strauser for the heads-up!)

Python SRS Library 0.30.11

Python SRS Library 0.30.11

Python SRS Library is a Python implementation of the Sender Rewriting Scheme. more>>
Python SRS Library is a Python implementation of the Sender Rewriting Scheme. Python SRS Library is a fairly direct translation of the draft implementation in Perl by Shevek. It includes a test suite, which currently checks four levels of forwarding and subsequent reversal for the Guarded, DB, and Reversible implementations.
This package includes scripts to be used as sendmail program maps. See sendmail integration for an explanation and instructions on incorporating SRS into sendmail.cf, substituting envfrom2srs.py and srs2envtol.py for the perl scripts. Even simpler, use the supplied sendmail m4 hack with sendmail.mc.
SRS.Daemon.Daemon() provides a simple socket daemon suitable for use with the Exim mailer.
RPM now includes a sendmail socketmap daemon. The program map is no longer recommended. It is slow and a security risk. Prior to socketmaps, it was all that was available for a custom map. Socketmap is available in sendmail 8.13.
For best results, use with Python milter to reject unsigned recipients.
Sendmail integration
Add the following lines to your /etc/mail/sendmail.mc (RedHat / Fedora) after any MAILER():
dnl #
dnl # File listing domains we do not SRS encode for when sending to
dnl #
define(`NO_SRS_FILE,`/etc/mail/no-srs-mailers)dnl
dnl #
dnl # Uncomment the following if you do not wish to SRS encode mail from
dnl # local domains. Only non-local domains need to be SRS encoded to
dnl # satisfy SPF. But encoding all outgoing mail can detect bounce forgeries.
dnl #
dnl define(`NO_SRS_FROM_LOCAL)dnl
dnl #
HACK(`pysrs,`/var/run/milter/pysrs)dnl
If you cannot install a version of sendmail with socketmap support, then the original program map is still available as HACK(pysrsprog).
NO_SRS_FILE is the path of a file containing the recipient MTAs for which you wont do SRS (typically, primary MXes for which you are secondary). Just leave this away, if you are secondary for nobody. The no-srs-mailers file is a simple text file which has one recipient MTA per line.
The argument to pysrs is the socket where the socketmap daemon is listening. This must match /etc/mail/pysrs.cfg or the default of /var/run/milter/pysrs.
NO_SRS_FROM_LOCAL : if this is set (define line present), then no SRS is done if sender is local (i.e. his domain is in /etc/mail/local-host-names)
The argument to pysrsprog is the domain that your SRS addresses bear (i.e. if your SRS addresses are srs0=mumble-jumble-toto@mydomain.com, then the argument is mydomain.com). This overrides fwdomain in /etc/mail/pysrs.cfg.
Enhancements:
- This release supports signing mode.

Slideshow Creator 0.7.1

Slideshow Creator 0.7.1

Slideshow Creator is a GUI for creating, modifying, and previewing JPEG image slideshows. more>>
Slideshow Creator is a GUI for creating, modifying, and previewing JPEG image slideshows.

With Slideshow Creator you can edit jpeg slideshows in a visual and fast way so you can reach a much higher productivity with dvd-slideshow.

The final result is a high quality dvd slideshow out of your jpegs!

This software is based on gambas so it shoud work on every Linux or U*ix like system where gambas is available.

You need to install gambas runtime or gambas gambas development ide.
I think it shoould work on higher gambas versions.

I was tired to make poor quality slideshows in VCD/SVCD format and finally met dvd-slideshow: it is a very nice program that produces high quality DVD slideshows from jpeg images. It has crop, kenburn andpan effects.

I made some slideshows but reliazed that I wasted too much time to prepare the slideshow "source": I needed a visual program to speed up the process of kenburns, crop and pan effects creation.

I googled the net but didnt find any souch program so I decided to create one myself: slcreator was born!

How I did it? I built it using gambas: a visual ide with a object oriented basic interpreter which permits to create great programs in a "fast" way. I tried some other languages but I was not skilled enough to use them for this kind of project! gambas permitted me to realize the job in a very nice way!

TkTag 1.0

TkTag 1.0

TkTag is a Tk/Perl application that allows the user to edit and modify ID3 headers in mp3 files. more>>
TkTag is a Tk/Perl application that allows the user to edit and modify ID3 headers in mp3 files. In addition to editing and modifying tags manually, you can also set up input and output masks to either create tags from filenames, or rename files based on tag fields.

First of all, the company that I am co-oping with decided to use Perl as the main language for constructing test suites and custom testing tools. At the time, I knew little of Perl, so I decided that if I started some small project in my spare time at home, it would make learning Perl all that much easier. After a week or so of work, this app was born. Hopefully someone will find it useful.

Well... If anyone finds this useful, Im sure that I can find more features to add. First of all, Id like to port the app to GTK+, but that assumes I have the time to learn GTK+. I picked up a good book on the subject, so hopefully it wont be too difficult. Also, Id like to add more support for constructing and playlists modification.

BADGER finance 1.0 Beta 3

BADGER finance 1.0 Beta 3

BADGER finance is an open source financial management application for end users. more>>
BADGER finance is an open source financial management application for end users. BADGER finance is written in php, ajax and sql. The goal is to regain control over your personal financial situation. BADGER is free software in the sense of the GNU GPL license.
The vision for BADGER finance was born at the Mannheim University of Cooperative Education (BA). In the course of a software development class we had the opportunity to develop software. We jumped at the project with the hopes to be able to complete a useful piece of software instead of the 10,000th tic-tac-toe application.
Since there was no financial management software on the market available to us that had what we needed, we started developing our own which we now released to the open source community.Preferences
Main features:
- Account management
- Currencies
- Transactions
- Transaction categories
- Forecasts
- CSV-Import
- Preferences
Enhancements:
- This is a major release with loads of new features and bugfixes.

The NIST Implementation of the Ad-Hoc On Demand Distance Vector protocol is a kernel-level driver for Linux . more>>
The NIST Implementation of the Ad-Hoc On Demand Distance Vector protocol is a kernel-level driver for Linux . AODV is a routing protocol for ad hoc networks designed with mobile wireless devices in mind. For a quick overview on AODVs basics, check out our Quick Guide to AODV page. If you are interested in running a simulation of AODV, NIST has developed a simulation in OPNET.
Kernel AODV is a loadable kernel module for Linux. It implements AODV routing between computers equipped with WLAN interfaces.
This software was developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology by employees of the Federal Government in the course of their official duties. Pursuant to title 17 Section 105 of the United States Code this software is not subject to copyright protection and is in the public domain. Kernel AODV is an experimental system. NIST assumes no responsibility whatsoever for its use by other parties, and makes no guarantees, expressed or implied, about its quality, reliability, or any other characteristic. We would appreciate acknowledgement if the software is used.
This software can be redistributed and/or modified freely provided that any derivative works bear some notice that they are derived from it, and any modified versions bear some notice that they have been modified.
Enhancements:
- Corrected LINK_LIMIT #ifdefs (Fix from Peter Barron)
- aodv_neigh.c
- hello.c
- module.c
- Add Packet Queuing back in (Fix from Peter Barron)
- Send queued messages when recieving a route, aodv_route.c
- Drop packet from queue if RREQ fails, rreq.c
- Added packet_queue.c back in, packet_queue.c
- Added init and cleanup of packet_queue, module.c
- Added additional check to packet_out.c to determine if packet is going to external subnet on a gateway.
- Shouldnt be neccesary since a route should be created for the external destination anyhow. Have to look into this. (Fix from Peter Barron)
- Removed annoying message printed when signal strength can not be read. Instead only prints when can not be set. signal.c
- Fixed the undefined symbol STRCHR problem for real this time. The problem is doing strstr() with a singlecharecter results in it being converted to strchr(), but for some reason it is not properly imported. The solution it to simply use stchr() instead. module.c
- Changed it so that find_aodv_route() will return valid routes that have expired. When it didnt return expired routes two routes would sometimes be created. Also, now kernel routes are only removed when an expired route is removed. find_aodv_route() will also invalidate expired valid routes.
- Had some trouble with duplicate kernel routes. Now we are always deleting before inserting a new route. Should fix it, fingers are crossed.
- Changed delete_neighbor() so that we send out an RERR even if the route is no longer valid. Also change gen_rerr() so that is will send out a RERR even if the route is not valid. It has to be better to send out a few extra rather than not enough. Just cause you have timed a route out doesnt mean others have.
- Compared the Metrics wrong in update_route() if the seq numbers were equal.

t-prot is a filter which improves the readability of email messages. more>>
t-prot (TOFU Protection) is a filter which improves the readability of email messages and Usenet posts by hiding some of their annoying parts.
The annoyances it handles include mailing list footers, signatures, TOFU, sequences of blank lines, and repeated punctuation.
TOFU is an acronym that stands for "Text oben, Fullquote unten", a German reference to the practice of adding just a few lines of original text and quoting a complete message below them.
Enhancements:
- A new option was added to skip processing of very large and time-consuming messages.

BigAl 2.4.0

BigAl 2.4.0

BigAl allows you to calculate really BIG numbers with an accuracy your desktop calculator is still dreaming of. more>>
BigAl is a free and platform independent software. The project is written entirely in Java. With BigAl you can calculate really BIG numbers with an accuracy your desktop calculator is still dreaming of. The only restriction is the power of your computer! Not only basic calculations are supported, but also special functions like factorial, fibonacci, lucas-sequence, periods, fraction reducing, sum of the digits, binomial coefficient calculation, factorize function, bit oriented functions and many more.

In February 2001, I wanted to know the result of the factorial of one million. BigAl was born and both many CPU cycles and months later I knew the exact result. Since the beginning, BigAl was able to handle numbers stored in files. Meanwhile a lot of functions has been added and a few of them got a much better performance. BigAl uses the Java classes called BigInteger and BigDecimal.

Tiny Tiny RSS is a server-side RSS feed aggregator written in PHP and heavily based on XmlHttpRequest and related technologies. more>>
Tiny Tiny RSS is a server-side RSS feed aggregator written in PHP and heavily based on XmlHttpRequest and related technologies for user interface and operation.

For years Ive been searching for a perfect RSS aggregator. I tried desktop ones (Straw, Blam!, Liferea) - while nice programs they usually lacked something or were overencumbered with features. Also, desktop aggregators cant solve the problem of keeping read feeds in sync between different machines.

I tried server-side aggregators, several ones. Unfortunately, I didnt find anything that felt usable, they had all the problems of classical web applications - clunky interface, no realtime updates, just not designed the way I like it, etc.

Well, then the obvious solution was to write an aggregator myself. I also felt the need to exercise in simple XmlHttpRequest web application programming, so TT-RSS was born. While obviously being on early stages on development and pretty much unfinished it offers a lot of functionality of desktop application while staying on server-side with all the benefits it provides.
