PLplot is a library of functions that are useful for making scientific plots.
PLplot can be used from within compiled languages such as C, C++, FORTRAN and Java, and interactively from interpreted languages such as Octave, Python, Perl and Tcl.
The PLplot library can be used to create standard x-y plots, semilog plots, log-log plots, contour plots, 3D surface plots, mesh plots, bar charts and pie charts. Multiple graphs (of the same or different sizes) may be placed on a single page with multiple lines in each graph.This program wants to offer interactive plotting using the Tcl programming language with plotting extensions.
A variety of output file devices such as Postscript, png, jpeg, LaTeX and others, as well as interactive devices such as xwin, tk, xterm and Tektronics devices are upported. New devices can be easily added by writing a small number of device dependent routines.There are almost 2000 characters in the extended character set. Many different output device drivers are available, including postscript, tektronix, HP laserjet, HP pen plotters, XFig, xterm, X-windows, and a portable metafile format, among others. The Tk driver under Unix/X provides a full user interface based on the plframe plotting widget (see below). The metafile renderer (plrender) supports all of the standard operations as well as seeking operations (backward, forward, or to any specified page) when interactively viewing metafile output.
Part of the PLplot package is a Tcl-based interpreter (pltcl).
Also part of PLplot is a Tk-based plotting widget, called a plframe. This widget is based on the Tk frame widget, and supports a variety of user options such as zoom, scrolls, save to a variety of devices, print, resize, page layout, orientation change, and palette manipulation. Direct plotting to the widget may be done by calls to the underlying library using either C or Fortran bindings, and a large number of operations can be interpreted directly (in Tcl) by the widget.

stableUpdate is a tool for advanced user who wants to know, which part of the application will by touched by the newly released update, accept the decission about necessity to install the update and, if needed, be able to remove the previously installed update.
It is written is java and is supposed to be called from inside java application. From a server stableUpdate only needs possibility to download files via http. The only file that must keep its location is a short xml document.
Changing this document, you can easily manage the list of secondary servers that provide the actual update files. It also holds release notes and mini announcement desk. In older versions you needed write this file manually. Since 1.0.2 stableUpdate will generate (or update) it for you, and you only need to upload it to one or better servaral primary servers. If you want, you can still look at the commented example of this file.
In stableUpdate, the updates are stored in .jar files. Each such update upgrades between the two versions. The version names need not match exactly your official versions. For example, you may officially release 1.1 and 1.2, but 1.1 can have subsequent updates from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, then to 1.1.3 and so on.
The update .jar file contains the changed single files and the changed entries of .jar and .zip archives. Since stableUpdate 1.0.3 the size and checksum of this .jar are verified after download.
If needed, the updates can be uninstalled in reverse order as they were installed. The user may need to uninstall the update if one discovers that some needed feature is actually working worse (or not working at all) in a newer version. The "uninstall" feature is available since the stableUpdate 1.0.1
The update is generated by comparing two folders, one containing the old installation and another the new installation. The generator is invoked as the main default class of autoupdater.jar (type java -jar autoupdater.jar) and has some very simple user interface.
The created .jar archive consists of changed individual files, changed files in .jar or .zip archives and deleting instructions, used to remove files present in the old, but absent in the updated version. *.bat, *.sh, Log/*, Cache/* , autooutdate/* (the folder for uninstall information) and jre/* will be ignored. .bat and .sh files usually contain installation specific information, and java virtual machine cannot be updated while running.

Seldon is a C++ library for linear algebra. Seldon provides matrix and vector structures, and some methods and functions for computations (linear algebra). Seldon is designed to be efficient and convenient, which is notably achieved thanks to template classes. Exception handling and several debug levels are helpful while coding.

Seldon provides several types of matrices: full matrices, sparse matrices, symmetric matrices, hermitian matrices and triangular matrices. Each type includes several formats. E.g. symmetric matrices may be stored as full matrices or in packed form (Blas format).

Seldon is fully interfaced with Blas (level 1, 2 and 3), except for Blas functions involving banded matrices (since this format is not available for the moment) and most rank operations. If Blas is not available to the user, a few alternative functions (same functions written in C++) may be used. Seldon includes many other features that are described in the documentation.

Seldon is supposed to be fully compliant with the C++ standard. Therefore, it can be compiled by GNU GCC (>=3.0; tested with version 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4) and by the Intel C++ compiler icc (tested with icc 7.1 and 8.0). No tests were conducted with proprietary compilers under Unix, but the compliance with the C++ standard should ensure portability. The last versions of Microsoft Visual C++ (from Visual C++ 2003) might compile Seldon according to its announced features, but it has not been tested.

As a next step, the Lapack interface is being completed. And any help is welcome!

spkg project is a reimplementation of Slackware package manager (pkgtools). Dependencies are not handled as they are supposed to be resolved at the higher level.

onepad is a set of programs to encrypt files using one-time-pad encryption. This is an old but theoretically impossible to easily break way of encryption. I came across this method in Neal Stephensons Cryptonomicon.
It works by XOR-ing every byte in the cleartext message with a byte in the key. As long as every key is only used once, and the key is random, this is supposed to be unbreakable.
However, you need a secure way to exchange keys with the intended recipient. If a third party intercepts the key, it can read the messages.
NOTE: These programs work, but the genpad program relies on the /dev/random device to generate random keys. So the quality of the key and therefore the safety of this encryption method depends on the randomness of the /dev/random device on your system. So I cannot guarantee that the generated keys are totally random. Therefore, if you need really good encryption, use something like ccrypt or GNU Privacy Guard. These have been written, tested and pounded on by a lot of people, probably smarter than I am.

openDICOM.NET software implements a new approach towards DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) libraries. DICOM is a worldwide standard in Medical IT and is provided by the National Electrical Manufacturers Assocation (NEMA). This standard specifies the way medical images and meta data like study or patient related data is stored and communicated over different digital medias. Thus, DICOM is a binary protocol and data format.

The openDICOM# Class Libary, main part of the openDICOM.NET project, provides an API to DICOM in C# for Mono and the .NET Framework. It is a completely new implementation of DICOM. In contrast to other similar libraries the intention of this implementation is to provide a clean classification with support of unidirectional DICOM data streaming. Another implemented goal is the support of DICOM as XML. This is not standard conform but very use- and powerful within software development, storage and manipulation. Currently, full read support of DICOM output stream and full write support to XML is supposed to be provided. The entire DICOM content can be accessed as sequence or as tree of class instances. Latter is the default representation of DICOM content by the library.

The openDICOM.NET Utils are a collection of console tools for working with the needed data dictionaries in different data formats (binary and textual), query of ACR-NEMA (prior DICOM standard) and DICOM files and transcoding them into image formats like JPEG and XML files. These utils are written in C# for Mono and the .NET Framework and are using the openDICOM# API for processing.

Last but not least, the openDICOM.NET Navigator recapitulates the openDICOM.NET Utils in form of a GTK# GUI. It provides different views with focus on DICOM data sets and visualization. Connectivity to GIMP is also given for image processing purpose as well as the possibility to run through multi-frame images like a movie.

Audio Convert is a script to convert Wav, Ogg, MP3, MPC, FLAC, APE, or WMA files into Wav, Ogg, MP3, MPC, FLAC, or APE files.
It has an easy-to-use interface that makes it possible to fill in the tags for a few formats and choose the quality of compression.
The script was initially designed for the nautilus file browser, and can be easily installed into nautilus by copying it to the nautilus-scripts directory, at which point you can right click on the desired audio file(s) and choose "audio-convert" from the "scripts" menu.
The script is also known to work on rox or directly from a shell.
