Bitterbpp 1.6

Bitterbpp 1.6

Bitterbpp project can make DVD backups to matroska under Linux. more>>
Bitterbpp project can make DVD backups to matroska under Linux.
Bitterbpp may not be used to make illegal copies of DVD movies; in fact, it functionally cannot since it depends entirely on MPlayer and lsdvd to read and process the DVD structure. So if you cannot legally (local laws, etc) make a backup copy of a DVD you legally own, you may not use this software in conjunction with MPlayer to do so. In fact, if for you the previous statement is true, I wouldnt even visit the MPlayer site, let alone download MPlayer.
Bitterbpp is designed as a lightweight, feature rich GUI "wrapper" to MPlayer, lsdvd and various other related software. As such, bitterbpp is an application written in Perl, utilizing the Gtk+ 2.x Perl bindings. Since it has some typically non-portable methods and system calls designed for Linux compatible systems, I dont suggest using this in any untested environment (Mac OS X, Windows, etc).
Main features:
- Recompresses any selected movie track in 2 passes (or n passes if desired) using one of four configurable codecs, to fit chosen space and scaling requirements. Scaling calculations are based on bits per pixel estimates, hence the name bitterbpp :)
- Unlimited audio tracks (in original AC3 or DTS, or recompressed to Ogg Vorbis) and unlimited subtitle tracks, with proper language support.
Enhancements:
- itterbpp-refresh separated from bitterbpp.
- Revised program structure.
- Updated documentation.

ExtSub 1.00

ExtSub 1.00

ExtSub is an utility which extracts and decodes subtitle data from VOB files. more>>
ExtSub is an utility which extracts and decodes subtitle data from VOB files. This program is for extracting subtitles from DVD VOB files. It does not descramble CSS-encrypted files. To compile simpy type "make". The command line parameters are as next:

infile= The VOB file from which to extract subtitles.

videofile= A file to which to write MPEG 2 video stream data.
(optional, highly experimental)

subname= The prefix of all subtitle files (see below for
details on the individual files).

convscript= An optional shell script, which will invoke
ImageMajicks "convert" utility to turn raw subtitle
image files into TIFF files.

id= The optional ID of the subtitle stream to be extracted
(default is 0). The specification allows IDs 0-31.

Each subtitle caption in the source file generates 3 output files with the suffixes ".gray", ".sub" and ".info".

The .gray file is a raw 8bpp bitmap image of the caption. DVD subtitles however are only 2bpp. in order to see anything with the naked eye using a program such as Imagemajicks "convert". it will probably be necessary to use the Enhance->Normalise function.

The .info file is a text file containing information about the caption, such as its resolution and and alpha channel data.

The .sub file is the raw data as extracted from the VOB source. Details of its syntax is available from http://sam.zoy.org/doc/dvd/subtitles/

kEchoSub 0.2

kEchoSub 0.2

kEchoSub lets you create your own movie subtitles. more>>
kEchoSub is a small script lets You create subtitles "from scrath". When You want to make a translation for a movie and there are no subtitles available on the net even in other languages You can use this script.

Since version 0.2 it can also convert time stamps to hh:mm:ss with add zeros button. For example it can convert a timestamps like 1:22:3 to 01:22:03 format making it readable for some stupid video players which cant rad 1:22:3 format.

Since version 0.2 it can also add minumum time to read a subtitle line - different for long lines and short lines. You cna set the options "Characters per lon g line" to indicate how much characters doesn the line have to have to be considered LONG in Your opinion.

Ths script will then calculate the time spaces in seconds beteween the lines and it its too short itll put a | mark instead of timestampt so the video player will display the second time without erasing the preaviouse line from the screen.
