Aurora Project 0.3
The Aurora Project aims to be a simple yet effective and intuitive Desktop Environment. more>>
The Aurora Project is an attempt to create a new generation of Linux distributions. It will try to break free from old patterns and establish Linux as a serious world player.
Currently, Aurora Project consists of the Aurora Desktop Environment which, unlike most other Linux-based desktop environments, dont attempts to accomplish everything but to remove the focus from system configuration and desktop customizing by creating an easy-to-use out-of-the-box intuitive and beutiful desktop experience.
The UI is (for now) somewhat Microsoft Windows-inspired. I am satisfied with the general layout of the panel and start menu, currently I am busy designing the core functionality of the desktop with the panel as my number one priority. Also there is the session manager, the desktop manager and the shared library.
The Aurora Project currently consists of two major components - the panel and the shared library.
Main features:
- Windows-like user interface with a start menu.
- Freedesktop-compliant application menu (compatible with GNOME and KDE).
- Frequently used applications are easy to access.

64 Studio 2.0
64 Studio is developing a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware. more>>
64 Studio is developing a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware (thats AMDs 64-bit CPUs and Intels EM64T chips).
Its based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other customisations.
64 Studio has Debian Pure 64 with X.org, the Gnome desktop, kernel 2.6.12 with realtime preemption patches and a selection of creative applications. Please note that this release is provided for testing only, and comes with no warranty.
Problems in this release include useful packages missing or not installed by default, confusing Gnome menus and assorted warnings during installation. There are probably plenty of other things wrong with it as well, which is why were calling this an alpha release. But it does actually install and run on our Opteron and Athlon 64 test hardware.
Anyone who is interested in getting involved with the 64 Studio project would be most welcome. Our aim is to create a distribution with full (but completely optional) commercial support, which will generate revenue to pay free software developers.
Enhancements:
- 64 Studio 2.0 is designed to retain compatibility with Debian Etch, to create a long-lived and stable creative desktop. We combine the stability and quality of Etch with a specialised real-time preemption kernel and the latest creative tools demanded by multimedia artists. Our tweaks to Debian include simplified installation and default settings which help get production underway quickly. Its our target that users should be able to get from a blank hard disc to a fully hardware-optimised and usable creative desktop in just half an hour.

The JEROME Project 0.1.0a
The JEROME Project or the Java-based Engine for Real-time Online Multiuser Environments. more>>
The JEROME Project or the Java-based Engine for Real-time Online Multiuser Environments, is designed as a heterogeneous parallel virtual machine, or grid, specifically for real-time applications.
Main features:
- Cross-platform - To allow for a completely heterogenous node network
- Standard - To use industry-standard technologies to connect and administer the nodes
- Simplicity - To maintain the simplicity of the codebase
- Independence - To be as implementation-independent as possible
- Fault-tolerance - To handle faults and load in realtime, without failure
- Reliability - To minimize or eliminate downtime for configuration or implementation changes
- Scalability - To be scalable, and meet the needs of all applications
- Speed - To be as transparent to message processing and communication latency as possible.
The JEROME architecture is a framework for creating realtime applications that benefit from a dynamic grid model. Each node is given one of four major tasks. These tasks are the four main aspects of the realtime processing enviroment: the interface or gateway, the event processor or context, the database, and the background or ambient processor.
Any number of these nodes are dynamically connected to eachother to form a realtime processing unit that dynamically distributes the processing load over nodes of the same type, and communicates via standard networks.
