- The system is forced use the OLD_PASSWORD system, so that when someone moves their database from one host (using an old version of MySQL) to a new one (using a new version of MySQL), the passwords of the existing users wont have to be recreated.

XMMS Plugin for Ogle DVD Player is an XMMS plugin, that allows it to play DVDs, using Ogle DVD Player as a backend.

1.) To install all type ./install

2.) To clean all type ./distclean

3.) Check if there is a dvd device (/dev/dvd)

4.) To play DVD make a plain file with extension .dvd (i.e. Ogle.dvd) and open it with XMMS.

SILVERCODERS DVD Backup is an unix shell script providing functionality for backuping files and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) on DVD discs.
The project supports multisession and incremental backups. Mail notification is also supported.
Usage:
dvd_backup.sh [--config < file_name >] --init|--add
--config < file_name > - use specified config file (default is ./dvd_backup.conf)
--init - initial backup (empty media)
--add - add next backup (media with backups)
Enhancements:
- Configuration for burning speed and temporary directory was implemented.
- Calculating checksums (SHA1 or MD5) was introduced.
- Warnings are printed if some files were changed while being archived.
- SMTP authentication can be disabled in this version.
- The path to the config file can be passed as an argument.
- A lot of bugs and compatibility fixes are included for several platforms.

SimplyMEPIS is a ready to go desktop operating system for PCs and Apple computers that have Intel or AMD 32 or 64 bit processors. SimplyMEPIS project is easier than Windows Vista and intuitive for Windows XP and Windows 98 users. MEPIS includes all of the applications that most users need and want. Warren Woodford of MEPIS has built KDE 4 Beta 1 live DVDs to verify the compatibility of KDE 4 with SimplyMEPIS 7.x. Both 32-bit and 64-bit editions are available. They are about 1 GB each and include all of the KDE 4 applications that are working at this time. KDE 4 Beta 1 is a very early release and is meant for developers, testers, and reviewers. The live DVDs were built using a MEPIS 7.0 Etch core and include the usual MEPIS kernel and hardware compatibility features. Since KDE 4 is functionally different than KDE 3 and also in an early beta state, a minimal KDE 3 installation remains on the disk to facilitate exploration by the user.

Ts2Dvd lets you make video DVD from almost any video file. You just have to select input video files, add subtitles file, then press Start button. After few minutes you get VIDEO_TS for burning it as DVD.

Scientific Linux is a Linux release put together by Fermilab, CERN, and various other labs and universities around the world. Its primary purpose is to reduce duplicated effort of the labs, and to have a common install base for the various experimenters.
The base SL distribution is basically Enterprise Linux, recompiled from source.
Our main goal for the base distribution is to have everything compatible with Enterprise, with only a few minor additions or changes. An example of of items that were added are Pine, and OpenAFS.
Our secondary goal is to allow easy customization for a site, without disturbing the Scientific Linux base. The various labs are able to add their own modifications to their own site areas. By the magic of scripts, and the anaconda installer, each site is to be able to create their own distributions with minimal effort. Or, if a users wishes, they can simply install the base SL release.
The Scientific Linux project, which rebuilds source packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) into a complete RHEL clone, has released a live CD/DVD edition of their latest version for the i386 and x86_64 architectures:
"The Scientific Linux Live CD/DVD is a bootable CD/DVD that runs Linux directly from CD/DVD without installing. It is based on Scientific Linux 4 It uses Unification File System (Unionfs), allowing read-only file system to behave as a writable one and SquashFS providing on-the-fly decompression that allows to store 2GB of software on a normal CD-ROM. The Live CD/DVD was built using modified scripts from Linux-Live."

New feature: Live CD can be installed to local hard disk.
