SDL::Video is a SDL perl extension.

SYNOPSIS

$video = new SDL::Video ( -name => pr0n.mpg );

SDL::Video adds support for MPEG video to your SDL Perl application. Videos are objects bound to surfaces, whose playback is controled through the objects interface.

METHODS

SDL::Video::error() returns any error messages associated with playback
SDL::Video::audio(bool) enables or disables audio playback, (on by default)
SDL::Video::video(bool) enables or disable video playback, (on by default)
SDL::Video::loop(bool) enables or disable playback looping (off by default)
SDL::Video::volume(int) set the volume as per the mixer volume
SDL::Video:display(surface) binds the clip to a display surface
SDL::Video::scale([x,y]|[surface]|int) scales the clip by either x,y factors, scales to the image dimensions, or a single scalar.
SDL::Video::play() plays the video clip, call SDL::Video::display() before playing
SDL::Video::pause() pauses video playback
SDL::Video::stop() stops video playback
SDL::Video::rewind() resets the clip to the beginning
SDL::Video::seek(offset) seeks to a particular byte offset
SDL::Video::skip(time) skips to a particular time
SDL::Video::region(rect) takes a SDL::Rect and defines the display area
SDL::Video::frame(int) renders a specific frame to the screen
SDL::Video::info() returns a new SDL::MPEG object reflecting the current status
SDL::Video::status() returns either SMPEG_PLAYING or SMPEG_STOPPED or SMPEG_ERROR

mpeg2videotools is a C library and set of tools for encoding, decoding, verification and analysis of MPEG-2 video. It supports 422 Profile and High Profile bitstreams. A PSNR tool is included for comparing uncompressed video to encoded MPEG-2 video.
The library will provide a C API and be implemented in C. Platforms supported will be popular Unices and Linux, MS Windows and MacOSX. autoconf and automake will be used to achieve portability for most platforms. Decoded bitstreams will be displayed using X11 server for Unix and native Windows API for MS Windows.
Included is an encoder and decoder application which are useful for creating compliant bitstreams and decoding and verifying MPEG-ES, MPEG-PS, MPEG-PES and MPEG-TS bitstreams.
A number of important improvements over the original SSG code have already been made:
display on TrueColor visuals (16, 24, 32 bit displays)
decoding of MPEG-TS streams
decoding of broken streams which do not start with a required start code
autoconf build
MS Windows display
a library API to enable its use in other projects (ImageMagick and the AAF SDK come to mind)
MIAMI is an MPEG-2 video codec library which aims to be a complete implementation of the ISO/IEC 13812-2:2000 standard. The priority is completeness and correctness rather than speed. Included is an encoder and a decoder for MPEG-ES,PS,PES,TS bitstreams.
Enhancements:
- changed function decs to ANSI style
- added const qualifier to suitable function args

iPod Video Encoder is a command line tool for convenient encoding of video files for use on iPod video. iPod Video Encoder project uses the ffmpeg tool for the actual encoding.
It features recursive encoding of all files in a directory, and generating a podcast.xml file for convenient use in iTunes.
It can be used in a cron job that periodically checks directories for new files and encodes them without user intervention.

Options:
--version show programs version number and exit

Video bit rate, in kbps (default: 1024)

-P, --pretend Do not really encode, just print out the ffmpeg
commands which would be executed

Podcast options:
-p, --podcast Generate a podcast.xml file for each directory.
--podcast-documentroot=PODCAST_DOCUMENTROOT

Podcast base URL; eg. http://localhost/
Enhancements:
- Only uses the -e option for processing directories.
- The default ipod extension is now _ipod.mp4 for Windows compatibility.
- The README file has been extended with information on the .ipod-encoder settings file.
- The program no longer crashes when HOME is not set on Windows.
- --width and --height parameters have been added.

VNC Spy monitors network traffic to find keystrokes entered into a VNC viewer. Letters the user types are printed to your screen.

So, for example, if an engineer insists on using VNC to log in from his Windows machine into your network whenever he wants from home, try leaving vncspy running for a while. I like to use the command:

sudo vncspy eth0 | tee keylog

Note that you need to run vncspy as root. You can either su root, or sudo.

This will sniff all keystrokes he enters from home to his VNC server. Assuming he has to enter his user name and password to log-on, you should see his user name in the keylog, followed by his password. Its that simple!

When you get his password, try writing it on a sticky-note, and pasting it on his monitor. Ive found showing people their passwords to be very effective at improving their security habits.

Usage:

vncspy must be run as root. It takes only one optional parameter, the interface to sniff on. If left out, it will use the first interface on your system, typically eth0.

Compling:

The only major dependency for vncspy is the pcap development library. On Debian or Ubuntu, you may issue a command like:

sudo apt-get install libpcap0.8-dev

If your system does not have libpcap available, you can install it from source from:

http://www.tcpdump.org.

Once you have libpcap, compiling vncspy is simple. Just type:

make

It should create the vncspy program. Let me know if you need help.

You can use ffmpeg too, just comment out the right lines in the python file, Im unable to encode some videos with ffmpeg, so mencoder is the default

Video::Xine is a Perl interface to libxine.

A perl interface to Xine, the Linux movie player. More properly, an interface to libxine, the development library. Requires installation of libxine.

Xine by itself does not provide a user interface, and neither does this interface. Instead, you must set up the window using your own windowing code, and pass the window information to Xine.
