sparco seats
Volity::Seat 0.6.5
Volity::Seat is a Volity seat, containing some players. more>>
SYNOPSIS
# From within a Volity::Game subclasss code:
my @seats = $self->seats;
# Or, given a Volity::Player object:
my $seat = $player->seat;
# Now tell the seat they just picked up the Three of Clubs:
$seat->call_ui_function("draw_card", "3C")
An objects of this class represents a seat at a Volity table. Volity players who are actually playing a game sit in seats, and referees address game-specific RPC calls to seats, not to individual players. See the main Volity documentation for more information about the seat concept: http://www.volity.org/wiki/index.cgi?action=browse&id=Seats
USAGE
As a game programmer, you need never create, modify, or destroy these objects yourself; that is all handled for you by the other objects that make up a Frivolity-run table, particularly the referee (see Volity::Referee). However, several methods of Volity::Game, the module you subclass to create your own Perl-based Volity game, will return objects of this class. Several crucial functions of communicating with a games players involve calling methods on these objects, including the all-important call_ui_function method (described below).
Your Volity::Game subclass must define some variables that assist the referee in seat creation, particularly the seat_ids and required_seat_ids class variables. If you wish to extend this class for your game, you can speficy a Volity::Seat subclass to use through Volity::Games seat_class method. All these are described in detail within Volity::Game.
Linux From Scratch 6.2-3
Linux From Scratch are instructions to create your own custom Linux system from scratch. more>>
There are a lot of reasons why somebody would want to install an LFS system. The question most people raise is "why go through all the hassle of manually installing a Linux system from scratch when you can just download an existing distribution?". That is a valid question which I hope to answer for you.
The most important reason for LFSs existence is teaching people how a Linux system works internally. Building an LFS system teaches you about all that makes Linux tick, how things work together, and depend on each other. And most importantly, how to customize it to your own taste and needs.
One of the key benefits of LFS is that you are in control over your system without having to rely on somebody elses Linux implementation. You are in the drivers seat now and are able to dictate every single thing such as the directory layout and boot script setup. You will also know exactly where, why and how programs are installed.
Another benefit of LFS is that you can create a very compact Linux system. When you install a regular distribution, you end up installing a lot of programs you probably would never use. Theyre just sitting there taking up (precious) disk space. Its not hard to get an LFS system installed under 100 MB. Does that still sound like a lot? A few of us have been working on creating a very small embedded LFS system. We installed a system that was just enough to run the Apache web server; total disk space usage was aproximately 8 MB. With further stripping, that can be brought down to 5 MB or less. Try that with a regular distribution.
If we were to compare a Linux distribution with a hamburger you buy at a supermarket or fast-food restaurant, you would end up eating it without knowing precisely what it is you are eating, whereas LFS gives you the ingredients to make a hamburger. This allows you to carefully inspect it, remove unwanted ingredients, and at the same time allow you to add ingredients to enhance the flavour of your hamburger. When you are satisfied with the ingredients, you go on to the next part of putting it together. You now have the chance to make it just the way you like it: broil it, bake it, deep-fry it, barbeque it, or eat it raw.
Another analogy that we can use is that of comparing LFS with a finished house. LFS will give you the skeleton of a house, but its up to you to install plumbing, electrical outlets, kitchen, bathtub, wallpaper, etc.
Another advantage of a custom built Linux system is added security. You will compile the entire system from source, thus allowing you to audit everything, if you wish to do so, and apply all the security patches you want or need to apply. You dont have to wait for somebody else to provide a new binary package that fixes a security hole. Besides, you have no guarantee that the new package actually fixes the problem (adequately). You never truly know whether a security hole is fixed or not unless you do it yourself.
Enhancements:
- The LFS LiveCD Team is proud to announce the release of the x86-6.2-3 version of LFS LiveCD. This version is built using LFS 6.2 and many Beyond Linux From Scratch packages from the Subversion branch. Source packages for LFS 6.2, and the LFS book itself, are included on the live CD. The CD is also suitable as a host for building x86 and x86_64 Cross LFS systems. Other features and bugfixes: the CD supports hibernation; the CD file system can be written to; the CD contains a visually pleasing and easy-to-use window manager, XFce...

The content from the first bonuspack, also included, is:
Onslaught:
ONS-Adara
ONS-IslandHop
ONS-Tricky
ONS-Urban
Three new vehicles:
SPMA (Self Propelled Mobile Artillery)
The SPMA is a two person vehicle, with the driver controlling a long range artillery piece. Alt-fire deploys the spotter camera. Enemies will want to shoot down the spotter camera as soon as they see it, to keep the SPMA from raining destruction from afar. An AVRiL at the spotter camera will automatically re-direct toward the SPMA if it ever becomes visible to the AVRiL.
Paladin
The Paladin is a defense focused vehicle, with a powerful energy projectile cannon and a defensive shield alt-fire. Firing the cannon while the shield is deployed will heavily damage nearby players.
Cicada
The two-man Cicada ground attack bomber is a powerful weapon against ground targets, but is easy prey for Raptors. The pilot can fire missiles, or use the alt-fire to specify a target. While holding alt-fire, multiple missiles are loaded up, and released when alt-fire is released. These missiles will all track toward the specified target location, so the alt-fire can be used to avoid enemy fire while loading up missiles. The second seat in the Cicada is an energy beam turret located on the belly of the Cicada. Its alt-fire is chaff that can be used to confuse incoming AVRiLs.
Six new characters:
Mekkor (Skaarj)
Mekkor is from the Black Fist Clan, sworn enemies of the Iron Skull Clan. Severely injured in battle, he is testing his new cybernetic armor in the Tournament.
Skrilax (Skaarj)
Skrilax is from the Black Fist Clan, sworn enemies of the Iron Skull Clan. Alongside his brother Mekkor, he was severely injured while fighting the Iron Skull Clan."
Barktooth (Iron Guard)
Barktooth would rather rip an opponent to shreds with his bare hands than fight from afar. He also finds close range Flak shots very satisfying."
Karag (Iron Guard)
Before joining the Iron Guard, Karag honed his weapon handling skills during a long stint as a Marshall for the Terran Colonial Authority. His style and panache already have the the Tournament audience abuzz."
Kragoth (Necris)
After an absence of several years, the Necris are preparing a return to the Tournament. Known as the Star Slayer, Kragoth is a dread Necris Phayder assassin. He is rumored to have single handedly killed the entire crew of an ICV Star Cruiser."
Thannis (Necris)

Volity::WinnersList 0.6.5
Volity::WinnersList is Perl class for Volity game record winners lists. more>>
SYNOPSIS
Heres code you might see in a Volity::Game subclass implementing a game where there is one winner and a bunch of losers, the latter of whom are all effectively tied for second place (we assume that the methods called in the first two lines are defined elsewhere):
if ($self->game_has_been_won) {
my ($winner, @losers) = $self->get_winning_seat_order;
$self->winners->add_seat_to_slot($winner, 1);
$self->winners->add_seat_to_slot(@losers, 2);
$self->end;
}
And heres what you might see in a subclass defining a score-using games where each player has a discrete ordinal place, and ties and ties are not possible (again assuming the presence of some magic methods defined somewhere else in the subclass):
if ($self->game_has_been_won) {
my @ordered_seats = $self->get_winning_seat_order;
for (my $index = 0; $index winners->add_seat_to_slot($ordered_seats[$index], $place);
}
$self->end;
}
Attached to every Volity::Game-subclass object is a WinnersList object, accessible through the game objects winners method. When a game wraps up, it should use the methods listed in this document to place the tables seats in a winning order before calling the end method. The referee will then use this information when it builds the game record to send to the Volity bookkeeper.
METHODS
slots
Accessor to the raw list of winner slots. Returns an array of anonymous arrays, each representing a single slot, in winning order: the one at index [0] is the winningest slot, and the one at [-1] is the losingest. Each of these slot-arrays contains a number of Volity::Seat objects.
add_seat_to_slot ($seat, $position)
Adds the given seat to the winners list at the given position. Note that the position is expressed in game-rank, so the first-place position is 1, not 0.
If there are already seats at the current position, the given seat will share the slot with them. As a shortcut, you can add several seats at once to the same slot by passing an arrayref of seats as the first argument.
seats_at_slot ($position)
Returns the list of seats the given position in the winners list. Note that the position is expressed in game-rank, so the first-place position is 1, not 0.
Angband 3.0.9
Angband is a freeware computer dungeon exploration game. more>>
Angband has a very long history. It started 1990 as an improved and "Tolkienized" variant of Moria. Moria itself was created in 1985 and was inspired by Rogue (from the late 70s). Countless changes were introduced by many programmers on the way to the current versions of Angband.
Ben Harrison, the previous maintainer, cleaned up the source code and made it easy to enhance and port to the different computer systems. The clean, well commented and modular source is one of the reasons for its popularity and for the number of variants and other extensions available.
Its addictive, very addictive. Your REAL life will be influenced by playing! Dont say I didnt warn you!
Angband was originally text-based, but graphical versions are now available for almost every computer system. Some Angband players still use the old ASCII-based graphics. There are even a few sound effects available for multimedia freaks.
The original name "Angband" was created by J.R.R. Tolkien in the stories about "Middle Earth".
Angband was a mighty fortified citadel originally constructed by Morgoth (Melkor) in the earliest days of the world as an outlying fortress to his northern stronghold of Utumno. Utumno was destroyed by the Valar, and Morgoth imprisoned in Valinor for three ages, but on his return to Middle-earth, he took Angband as the seat of his power, and raised the towers of Thangorodrim above its gates.
Angband was besieged by the Noldor during the early part of the First Age, but the Siege of Angband was broken at the Dagor Bragollach. It was finally destroyed by the forces of the Valar at the end of the First Age, in the War of the Wrath.
Enhancements:
- This is a bugfix release that fixes over fifty bugs present in the previous release, none of which individually are particularly annoying, but collectively merit a new release.
