Document Library 1.2b2

Document Library 1.2b2

Document Library is a Web application for document management in larger organizations with a lot of documents. more>>
Document Library is a Web application for document management in larger organizations with a lot of documents.
Organizations deal with numerous documents, such as word processor documents and PDFs. These documents often reside on someones computer and are not network accessible. Versions of documents are hard to track - the same document may be passed around using email in multiple versions over time. In large organizations it therefore becomes important to structure the flow of documents and present them in a common format. This is typically done using a document management system. Document Library is one such document management system.
Information in the Document Library can be accessed using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), meaning that besides being open source, the Document Library is also a good example of an open data application. Because it is open data, the Document Library is easier to integrate with other applications, such as the Silva CMS or any other application capable of OAI-PMH harvesting.
Main features:
- Automatic conversion service: using OpenOffice, the Document Library can convert Word documents into PDFs and plain text, PDFs into plain text. The plain text version is important in that it allows for full-text indexing of document contents, and also makes documents more accessible to people with disabilities.
- Publication workflow: documents only become available for harvesting and download after a review process.
- Delegation of control: reviewers ("librarians") can be assigned to particular sections.
- Dynamic access: authors have automatic access to all the documents that list them as an author.
- Versions: multiple versions of the same document can coexist, one public and one under preparation.
- Email reminder functionality: users receive emails of the progress of the document through the workflow.
- OAI-PMH data provider: allows other systems to harvest document metadata using standard protocol.
- Integration with Silva CMS (using OAI-PMH).
- Fast upload and download integration with Apache using Tramline.
- Easy overview screens for librarians.
- Smart file upload user interface: files need to be uploaded only once even if rest of form needs to be amended.
- Document Library is built using the powerful Zope 3 application server platform.
Enhancements:
- Installation was made easier by using zc.buildout.
- Optional LDAP support was added.
- Filesystem storage was integrated with Tramline.
- The conversion provided by OooConv was improved.
- Table rendering was improved using zc.table.
- Zope was updated to 3.3.

Software Render Library 0.0.1

Software Render Library 0.0.1

Software Render Library is a library for polygon-based rendering of 3D scenes in software. more>>
Software Render Library is an Open Source software implementation of a polygon-based renderer (like your graphics card).
Main features:
- Transform vertices (from world to screen coordinates)
- Lighting
- Apply fog
- Rasterization of points, lines and triangles
- Texturation
- Z-Buffers
- Alpha blending
- Output to several pixel formats
Installation:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute
`configure itself.
If youre using GNU `make or any other `make program that supports the `VPATH variable, you should instead create a new directory, `cd to it and type `../srlib-src/configure.
This way you can keep the source directory clean and have your sources in a directory which is not modifyable by normal users.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the libraries, headers and documentation. At the moment, only static libraries are built; support for shared libraries will be provided soon.
4. You can remove the library binaries and object files from the build directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean.
There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Version restrictions:
- Read or write files and file formats, like png or jpeg. Software Render Library expects pixel data in a suitable format in a memory buffer.
- Read and process file formats describing a scene. Software Render Library only takes simple commands like "render this list of triangles" or "apply this certain light".
- Tesselation, i.e. dividing more abstract elements like cubes or spheres into lines and triangles.

IFF Format Library 0.1

IFF Format Library 0.1

IFF Format Library provides header structures and utility functions for reading and writing data files in the Interchange Files. more>>
IFF Format Library provides header structures and utility functions for reading and writing data files in the Interchange Files.
The Interchange File Format is a simple structured binary file format consisting of sized and typed chunks of data, selectively readable without having to know the format of each chunk.
This functionality is similar to what XML provides for text documents, and the IFF format can indeed be viewed as a sort of a binary XML. IFFs extensibility is an excellent way of not breaking old applications when the file format changes, making it an excellent choice for your next applications data files.
The IFF is also the simplest and the smallest such data format, ensuring that your files consist of real data rather than overhead and that your code spends more time on real work than on parsing the data file. This library defines the IFF header structures and provides simple algorithms for directly writing many of your objects as chunks and containers.
Installation:
This library can be downloaded from SourceForge, as can its sole prerequisite:
libiff - The library source package.
uSTL - An STL implementation, required.
First, unpack and install uSTL, as described in its documentation. Unpack libiff and run ./configure; make install, which will install the library to /usr/local/lib and headers to /usr/local/include. ./configure --help lists available configuration options, in the usual autoconf fashion. The one thing to be aware of is that by default the library will not be completely conforming to EA85 specification. Why that is so, and why you should take the default options anyway, is discussed in detail in the next section. If you really want to use the original EA85 format, you can to pass --with-bigendian --with-2grain to configure.
Usage:
If you are using C++, chances are you already have an object-oriented design of some kind. You have a collection of objects, related to each other in some way, and you want to write them all to a file in some way. It is, of course, possible to just write them all to the file, one after the other, but that approach makes things difficult if you ever decide to change the structure of those objects, write more or fewer of them, or explain to other people how to read your format. Hence, it is desirable to create some kind of structure in the file, to be able to determine where each objects begins and ends, and what kind of object is where. When using an IFF format, youll make simple objects into chunks, and objects containing other objects into FORMs, LISTs, or CATs.
The first task is to make each of your objects readable and writable through uSTL streams. To do that youll need to define three methods, read, write, and stream_size, and create flow operator overrides with a STD_STREAMABLE macro. Here is a typical example:
#include < iff.h > // iff header includes ustl.h, but doesnt use the namespace.
using namespace ustl; // it is recommended to leave iff:: namespace on.
/// Stores players vital statistics.
class CPlayerStats {
public:
void read (istream& is);
void write (ostream& os) const;
size_t stream_size (void) const;
private:
uint16_t m_HP;
uint16_t m_MaxHP;
uint16_t m_Mana;
uint16_t m_MaxMana;
};
// Since the object is simple, and contains no other objects,
// well make it a simple chunk.
enum { // Define a chunk format for writing this object.
fmt_PlayerStats = IFF_FMT(S,T,A,T)
}; // In a hex editor youll see STAT at the beginning of the object
// making it easy to find when you want to hack something in it.
/// Reads the object from stream p is
void CPlayerStats::read (istream& is)
{
is >> m_HP >> m_MaxHP >> m_Mana >> m_MaxMana;
}
/// Writes the object to stream p os.
void CPlayerStats::write (ostream& os) const
{

TCB::Library provides a database-backed book library package for DBIx::Frame.

TCB::Library is a DBIx::Frame object written to keep track of library books at the TCB Group at UIUC.

It provides a Web interface for adding books to the library, for users to check out and return them, and for reminder messages to be sent out periodically to list what books are checked out.

This is actually a fairly basic function of research groups, but doesnt have a standard software package.
