SourceBase 0.1.1

SourceBase 0.1.1

SourceBase is a parser library aimed at developers of free Integrated Development Environments. more>>
SourceBase is a parser library aimed at developers of free Integrated Development Environments.

It should make implementing advanced features such as intellisense code completion, call trees, symbol browsers, etc. a no-brainer. SourceBase is a tear-away development from Source Navigator.

The current aim is to support C and C++, and to provide a clean API. Future aims include addition of more languages such as Java, PHP/HTML/ASP, Perl, Python, FORTRAN and COBOL.

SourceBase uses code from Source Navigator and is licenced under GNU GPL. One of our aims is to move to a more commerce-friendly licence such as LGPL in the future. However, for that to happen, we need to move away from the source navigator codebase to fresh code. All new code contributions should be dual licenced under GPL/LGPL.

ccovinstrument 0.20

ccovinstrument 0.20

ccovinstrument package contains instruments C/C++ code for test coverage analysis. more>>
ccovinstrument package contains instruments C/C++ code for test coverage analysis.

SYNOPSIS

ccovinstrument code.c > covcode.c
ccovinstrument code.c [-f] -o covcode.c [-e errs]
-f instrument fatal code as well as normal code

Scans C/C++ source (before cpp) and inserts trip-wires in each code path to record execution.

A number of error prone coding styles are also detected. Many of these ideas came from study of the highly regarded perl5 source code (and from my own coding experience.

This approach (or almost any approach) to coverage analysis is NOT fullproof! Just because you exercise every code path does NOT mean you have exercised all possibilities. For example, consider the following code:

char
fetch_char(int xx)
{
static char *string = "Dr. Zorph Trokien";
if (xx < 0) {
return 0;
} else {
return string[xx];
}
}

Unfortunately, you still have to be somewhat intelligent about designing your test scripts. However, assuming youre clever, you can use this tool to know when to stop writing more tests. Thus, thereby achieving test coverage.

CCov SOURCE DIRECTIVES

/* CCov: off */
Turns off coverage instrumentation. You probably dont want to analyze debugging code.

/* CCov: on */
Turns on coverage instrumentation.

/* CCov: jump if for do while else return */
Adds to the list of identifiers that cause a change in execution flow. In addition to the usual keywords, macros used by the perl core and XSUBs are included by default.

/* CCov: fatal myexit croak panic */
Adds to the list of identifiers that cause a fatal exception. Instrumentation of these blocks is turned off by default. (You usually want to make sure the code is suppose to work works before you make sure that the code that isnt support to work works.)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The instrumenter processes source code before it is seen by cpp. This helps you isolate your testing. Usually, you want to do test analysis on each library/application individually. A global analysis would cause you to test new code and all the libraries you are using (for every single application!).

The instrumentor does not really use a lexer (tokenizer). The techniques are probably more similar to image processing than parsing. As you might imagine, this doesnt work in the general case. CCov tries to be forgiving, but it simply doesnt understand obfuscated code. Rather than calling it a bug, I think its an significant feature.

Simple code probably has fewer bugs than complex code. Not only is this tool aimed at test coverage analysis, it is also helps you improve your coding style. There are still some rough edges, but I am mostly satisfied with the degree of strictness.

Simple Machine Language interpreter

Simple Machine Language interpreter

Simple Machine Language interpreter is a simple machine language interpreter. more>>
SML is a "toy" machine language intended to teach basic processor concepts. This website contains an explanation and definition of SML, as well as an interpreter and example SML programs. GPLd source code for the interpreter is available, as well as binaries for Windows and Linux.

A machine language defines a set of instructions that a CPU can execute to perform operations. In other words, a machine language defines what you can do with your computer. Modern processors have very complex instruction sets; however, the simple language described here can give you an understanding of what is happening "under the hood" with your computer.

Machine language is the actual data that is directly run by the processor. Writing a program in machine language can therefore be advantageous if you need to save space or highly optimize your code. However, machine language is also not portable and can be difficult to understand and maintain.

Therefore, almost all code is now written in a higher level language, such as C, C++, Java, or scripting languages such as shell or perl. These languages all have their advantages and disadvantages as well, such as varying levels of portability, maintainability, scalability, and execution speed.

One level higher than machine language is assembly language. Assembly language is basically readable machine language. Instead of writing out the code bit-by-bit, you write out the code as a sequence of human readable instructions, which are then compiled almost directly into machine language.

Assembly language is almost always used instead of machine language when such a direct level of control is needed. For example, some games implement part of their code in assembly in order to maximize execution speed. Assembly can be "inlined" into some higher level languages, like C. This means that the assembly is defined as a callable procedure from within the C code.

MetaC Compiler metacc r70125

MetaC Compiler metacc r70125

MetaC language extends C in a 100% backward compatible way. more>>
MetaC language extends C in a 100% backward compatible way with reflective features and techniques for refactoring, reconfiguring and modifying arbitrary C source code.
Therefore, the extensions provide special metadata types for working with source code information, syntactical structures for the definiton of code templates, and metafunctions to gather information about source code and refactor, modify, delete, or insert code.
Some of the modifications that can be done with MetaC, are also realizable with the C preprocessor. But the C preprocessor suffers certain limitations that can be overcome using MetaC.
The area of applications for MetaC is not limited to specific domains. But its concepts and its motivation has been derived from problems of CASE tools for embedded real-time systems (e.g. Mathworks Matlab, Telelogics Tau, Aonixs STP).
- Source code reconfiguration and refactoring in general.
- Abstraction of APIs and hardware-specific or vendor-specific implementations of well-defined functionallity (ever got locked to a specfic API by a RTOS vendor?).
- Source code instrumentation for WCET-analysis
- Adaption of source code to multiple embedded targets (especially differing native platform APIs) based upon an abstract machine model
- Application specific debug support (e.g. control-flow or data-flow tracing)
- Verification of domain- and application-specific constraints (e.g. MISRAs rules set for C based programs in automotive applicaitons)
Advantages of the Metaprogramming Approach:
- Source code modification is done based upon syntax. In consequence invalid modifications can be detected at the moment they are executed.
- Decision for code modifications can be made upon user parameters and information derived from the source code
- Crosscutting reconfigurations (i.e. reconfigurations concerning multiple functions or modules) of source code are possible.
Enhancements:
- Support for Win32 hosts was added.
- Support for initializer lists was added.
- Some C99 issues were fixed.
- Several more enhancements were made.
- A whole bunch of bugs were fixed.

Quake III Arena Source 1.32c

Quake III Arena Source 1.32c

This is the source code for Quake III Arena version 1.32b, released by id Software. more>>
This is the source code for Quake III Arena version 1.32b, released by id Software. Quake III Arena Source is subject to the terms of the GNU General Public License.
While we made sure we were still able to compile the game on Windows, GNU/Linux and Mac, this build didnt get any kind of extensive testing so it may not work completely right.
Whenever an id game is released under GPL, several projects start making the source code more friendly to nowadays compilers and environements.
If you are picking up this release weeks/months/years after we uploaded it, you probably want to look around on the net for cleaned up versions of this codebase as well.
The build system using cons, which may be known as sconss perl ancestor now you dont have to track it down though, the build script is provided in the tree you will need nasm and gcc 2.95
Make sure you have the X Direct Graphics Access and X Video Mode extensions headers for your X11 a typical compile command goes like this:
[..]/code$ ./unix/cons -- gcc=gcc-2.95 g++=g++-2.95
Enhancements:
- Fix for a security exploit.

Domino Javadoc Generator 0.4

Domino Javadoc Generator 0.4

Domino Javadoc Generator project aims to create a documentation to the Lotus Notes API for Java. more>>
Domino Javadoc Generator project aims to create a documentation to the Lotus Notes API for Java in a standard format common in the Java comunity and accepted by the most IDEs for Java.

The Lotus Notes API is delivered as a Java archive together with the original documentation in the native format of a Domino database with the IBM Domino Designer. The documentation can be read only in the Lotus Notes. Java-oriented tools cannot use it to display a description of a Java class, to browse classes and their methods or to offer an automatic code insertion based on a Java object and its class.

The goal is to create a Javadoc documentation together with a pseudo-source code of the Lotus Notes API. The documentation can be viewed, indexed and integrated to IDEs. The pseudo-source code can be integrated to IDEs to support object browsing and automatic source code insertion.
