Armangils podcatcher is a podcast client for the command line. It provides several download strategies (new shows only, back-catalog allowed, etc), supports BitTorrent, offers cache management, and generates playlists for MP3 player applications.
Armangils podcatcher project is written in Ruby, and runs on Linux (tested), MacOS, Windows and many other operating systems.
Usage is fairly straightforward: podcatcher subscriptions.opml > latest.m3u downloads the latest subscribed podcasts into the current directory and generates a playlist.
OPML URLs are also allowed as parameters, so that listening to the most popular podcasts is as easy as typing something like podcatcher http://podcastalley.com/PodcastAlleyTop50.opml > latest.m3u.

Enhancements:
- This release adds the --cachedir option for explicitly specifying the content cache directory independently from the state directory (specified using --dir), the --language option for selecting feeds by language, the --horizon option that prevents the downloading of content older than a given date, the --restrictednames option for using content file names that are acceptable for restrictive filesystems such as VFAT, and more robust handling of feeds that use the Media RSS module.
- A bug in update checking has been fixed.

showposition is useful if you want to explain to somebody (e.g. on Usenet) where something is.

PyMM is an MP3 Manager written in Python. With it you can easily create playlists, edit ID3 tags and search your collection.
I used to use the windows program MP3 Manager to manage my MP3s. I have since migrated my MP3 collection to Unix, and I therefore needed something similar on that platform. The project also gave me an opportunity to get aquainted with wxPython, which I must say is a quite suberb windowing toolkit.
You can use the program to manage your collection, create playlists, control the XMMS player, edit ID3 tags and so forth.
You can install the program in two ways:
1. run "python setup.py install". This requires write access to the python installation tree. It will install a startup script in the python bin directory. Then just type "pymm" to start the program.
This requires Python 2.0/1.6 or that you have Distutils installed.
2. Just put this directory somewhere and start the program with "python pymm.py". I made a link to the pymm.py script in a bin directory (i.e something like "ln -s /pymm.py /usr/local/bin/pymm").
Enhancements:
- pymm.py (Timer.Notify): Added total time of track to statusbar.
- xmms.py (Xmms): Added get_playlist_time(pos).

Video::Info can retrieve video properties such as: height width codec fps.

Video::Info is a factory class for working with video files. When you create a new Video::Info object (see methods), something like this will happen: 1) open file, determine type. See Video::Info::Magic. 2) attempt to create object of appropriate class (ie, MPEG::Info for MPEG files, RIFF::Info for AVI files). 3) Probe the file for various attributes 4) return the created object, or a Video::Info object if the appropriate class is unavailable.

Currently, Video::Info can create objects for the following filetypes:

AudioFile::Info::MP3::ID3Lib is a Perl extension to get info from MP3 files.

This is a plugin for AudioFile::Info which uses MP3::ID3Lib to get data about MP files.

new

Creates a new object of class AudioFile::Info::MP3::ID3Lib. Usually called by AudioFile::Info::new.

POE::Component::Enc::Mp3 is a mp3 encoder wrapper.

SYNOPSIS

POE::Kernel->run();

This POE component encodes raw audio files into mp3 format. It is merely a wrapper for the notlame program.

METHODS

The module provides an object oriented interface as follows:

new

Used to initialise the system and create a module instance. The following parameters are available:

alias

Indicates the name of a session to which module callbacks are posted. Default: main.

bitrate

Should be self-evident. If left unspecified, defaults to 160.

enc < file-name > [del-orig]

Encodes the given file, naming it with a .mp3 extension. An optional true value for the second parameter indicates that the original file should be deleted.
