usocksd 0.9.3

usocksd 0.9.3

usocksd project is a user-mode SOCKS5 daemon. more>>
usocksd project is a user-mode SOCKS5 daemon.

While the usual "socksd" runs as a system service, perhaps on a firewall machine with no users, this one is intended to be run by users themselves.

There are two situations where this is useful:

1. User has access to a machine with less restricted connectivity than the machine he works on.

2. User is on an insecure network and wants all network traffic to be enrypted using "ssh", and has access to a machine running "sshd" on a more secure network. "usocksd" contains special provisions for this situation.

More information on how to run "usocksd" is in the man page.

Installation: sh ./configure; make; make install.
configure takes additional arguments --enable-debug, --enable-norelax and --with-socks5. configure --help for more info.

This program can itself use SOCKS, although I havent tested that option.

Developed on Linux 2.0, tested also on HPUX 10, AIX 4.1, Solaris 2.6.

JSch 0.1.33

JSch 0.1.33

JSch is a pure Java implementation of SSH2. more>>
JSch is a pure Java implementation of SSH2.
JSch project allows the user to connect to an sshd server and use port forwarding, X11 forwarding, file transfer, etc., and you can integrate its functionality into your own Java programs. JSch is licensed under BSD style license.
Our intension in developing this stuff is to enable users of our pure java X servers, WiredX and WeirdX, to enjoy secure X sessions. Our efforts have mostly targeted the SSH2 protocol in relation to X window system and X11 forwarding. Of course, we are also interested in adding other functionality - port forward, file transfer, terminal emulation, etc.
Needless to say, SSH provides support for secure remote login, secure file transfer, and secure TCP/IP and X11 forwarding. It can automatically encrypt, authenticate, and compress transmitted data.
The SSH protocol is available in two incompatible varieties: SSH1 and SSH2. SSH2 was invented to avoid the patent issues regarding RSA (RSA patent has expired), and to fix some data integrity problem that SSH1 has, and for a number of other technical reasons.
SSH2 protocol has been standardized on IETF Secure Shell working group and drafts related to SSH2 protocol are available on the web. In developing JSch, we are now referring to following documents:
SSH Protocol Architecture
SSH Transport Layer Protocol
Diffie-Hellman Group Exchange for the SSH Transport Layer Protocol
SSH Connection Protocol
SSH Authentication Protocol
Main features:
- JSch is in pure Java, but it depends on JavaTM Cryptography Extension (JCE). JSch is know to work with:
- J2SE 1.4.0 or later (no additional libraries required).
- J2SE 1.3 and Suns JCE reference implementation that can be obtained at http://java.sun.com/products/jce/.
- J2SE 1.2.2 and later and Bouncycastles JCE implementation that can be obtained at http://www.bouncycastle.org/.
- SSH2 protocol support.
- Key exchange: diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1, diffie-hellman-group1-sha1
- Cipher: blowfish-cbc, 3des-cbc, aes128-cbc,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbcnew!
- MAC: hmac-md5, hmac-sha1, hmac-md5-96, hmac-sha1-96
- Host key type: ssh-dss,ssh-rsa
- Userauth: password
- Userauth: publickey(DSA,RSA)
- Userauth: keyboard-interactive
- X11 forwarding
- xauth spoofing
- connection through HTTP proxy.
- connection through SOCKS5 proxy.
- port forwarding.
- stream forwarding.
- signal sending. The unofficial patch for sshd of openssh will be found in this thread.
- remote exec.
- generating DSA and RSA key pairs.
- changing the passphrase for a private key.
- partial authentication
- SSH File Transfer Protocol(version 0, 1, 2, 3)
- packet compression. JZlib has been used.
- JSch is licensed under BSD style license.
Enhancements:
- bugfix: freeze in diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1. FIXED. By the default, diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 will be used and if you have not chosen diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1 explicitly, you dont have to worry about it.
- bugfix: there should be timeout mechanism in opening a socket for remote port forwarding. FIXED. At the failure or timeout, SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_OPEN_FAILURE will be sent to sshd.
- bugfix: there should be timeout mechanism in opening a socket for X11 forwarding. FIXED. At the failure or timeout, SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_OPEN_FAILURE will be sent to sshd.

Gnapster 1.5.0

Gnapster 1.5.0

Gnapster is a powerful client to the napster online MP3 community written for GTK/GNOME. more>>
Gnapster is a powerful client to the napster online MP3 community written for GTK/GNOME.
Installation (standard GNU autoconf installation):
./configure [ --disable-gnome ]
make
and as root:
make install
Napster itself has kind of a hacky way to get around firewalls, by setting your port to 0 and connecting outgoing instead of incoming in order for you to upload. This still means that you cannot download from other firewalled users with the same setup, severely limiting the functionality of Napster. Gnapster currently supports this option from 1.3.7 version.
The real problem is that a lot of users on Napster are behind a firewall as well. Thus, your computer and the one you are trying to download from cannot accept connections in. This creates problems. The only way around this is for one of you to be able to accept. This is left up to you.
The best way to completely resolve this problem if you have access to the gateway machine is to setup port redirection. Redirect port 6699 on the gateway machine to your IP in the LAN (port 6699). Then connect to Napster normally and everything should work fine. I used a program called redir to do this on my home LAN.
IMPORTANT! If you do not have admin access on the gateway machine you cannot do this! I suggest opening the properties and checking the firewall option. This will cause the server to limit your search results to only computers you can download from.
Enhancements:
- Multiple server/account management
- Search history
- Bandwidth limiting
- Ability to specify multiple share directories
- Many internal improvements
- Vorbis file sharing support
- MPEG/AVI file sharing support
- Added file type to search criteria
- Updated Browse OpenNAP dialog
- Fixed Safe Exit option
- Added an option to execute a program after a successful download
- Fixed a potentially exploitable remote segmentation fault concerning uploads
- SOCKS5 support should (hopefully) be fixed now
- Timestamped events
- Lots more changes I cant remember
- As usual, many bug fixes

JamochaMUD 2.0-07-06-03

JamochaMUD 2.0-07-06-03

JamochaMUD offers Unicode, plug-in, and multi-language support to allow a more enjoyable MUCKing/MUDding experience. more>>
JamochaMUD is a MUD/Muck client written in Java.
JamochaMUD offers Unicode, plug-in, and multi-language support (8 different languages) to allow a more enjoyable MUCKing/MUDding experience.
JamochaMUD project features command history, synchronized window controls, experimental SOCKS 5 support, and greatly improved ANSI colour support.
It plays nice on Unix systems, supports a wide range of MU*s, and also includes emulation of some TinyFugue editor controls. It uses Java 1.1, and includes classes to be easily reused in other Java applications.
Main features:
General items
- JamochaMUD can handle Multiple MU* connections simultaneously
- Support for both terminated and unterminated lines (common on many MU*s)
- ANSI Colour support
- Different frames (timers, main window, etc.) may be moved, hidden, or shown either synchronised or independent of each other.
- Multi-language support (languages that are not supported currently can easily be added by folks that neednt even know how to program).
- Unicode support (may currently not work?!), which allows the display of double-byte languages and Non-western language font support, such as Russian cyrillic characters
- Support for JamochaMUD plugins the extend the features of the basic MU* client
- Socks5 support (perhaps limited, but it does work!)
- Programmable macros and definitions
File menu items
- Save your session output to a (plain text) file
Edit menu items
- Just the usual cut and paste features
Connection menu items
- Quick reconnect to a MU* that you had just left.
Option menu items
- Changing font size, type, and (base) colour
- Changeable background colour
- Assign external programs to deal with special features, such as URLs.
- Socks5 support
- Manage plugins independently of each other
- Split Frames, which allows the input and output windows to be either combined or totally independent of one another.
- Autofocus input (automagically sends typing to the text-input window if another frame of JamochaMUD is currently in focus).
- Smooth display turned "double-buffering" of the MU* output area on or off. With double-buffering the redraw of the area is smoother, but slower. With double-buffering off, the refresh appears faster, but flickers more. (A personal taste thing!)
- The ability to use Unicode characters when connected to a MU*. (This must be supported by the MU*).
- The option to enable Tiny-fugue emulation. This enables JamochaMUD to emulate some of TFs " editor" keyboard controls.
Plug-ins menu: allows quick access to the properties of a plug-in
Help menu items
- The Help function connects you to the JMUD pages... In theory this will supply you with the most up-to-date JamochaMUD info. Yes, always on the bleeding edge of text-based MU* technology!
Additions via available plug-ins
- Replacing JMUDs title with your current location
- Gags and triggers allowing highlighting/dumping of text as well as audio hints (as of 2000-08-12).
Enhancements:
- This release features a change in the spell check libraries used, and supports mySpell (OpenOffice.org) dictionaries instead of the previous ASpell dictionaries.

Pxytest is a command line utility to test a host for open proxies that are vulnerable to spammer abuse. more>>
Pxytest is a command line utility to test a host for open proxies that are vulnerable to spammer abuse.

Unsecured proxies currently are the most significant conduit of junk email. This is a particularly vexing problem, because open proxies, unlike open mail relays, hide the origin of the spam, making it impossible to trace. This utility tests a host to see if it is vulnerable to such abuse.

The following types of unsecured proxies are detected: http-connect, http-post socks4, socks5, wingate, telnet and cisco. See the manual page for descriptions of these proxy types.

If you find this utility useful, you also may be interested in its sister utility, the rlytest open relay tester.
