WMAcpi is port of WMApm 1.1 with ACPI support.

Implementation of "ACPI" mode:

As far as I know, there arent any tools available right now to process battery statistics provided in /proc/power by ACPI stuff in 2.4.x kernels. So, I updated wmapm 1.1 to handle ACPI also. There are no changes between 1.1 and 1.2 other than ACPI stuff. If you are NOT interested in ACPI, this version is NOT for you. However, if you ARE interested in ACPI, please test this and
let me know if it works for you. This code makes a couple assumptions, they
are as follows:

* You only have one battery, and its a "Control Method" battery
* Your ACPI bios is more or less "not fucked up" (i.e. it works with 2.4.2)
* VERY IMPORTANT: You are running kernel 2.4.2. This has been tested under 2.4.2 kernel ONLY, and is not guaranteed to work with anything else. You have been warned.

To use ACPI support, just follow "INSTALL" instructions. Makefile has been updated to include -DACPI. If you dont have ACPI, you dont need this version of wmapm. Information after "INSTALL" section only applies to APM systems, without ACPI support.

Installation:

* dance
* < somewhere useful >/wmapm &
* phear
(if it doesnt work, skip the phear step)

Note, this (for now) only supports laptops with one system battery. I am working with kernel acpi people to standartize power reporting interface, and when its usable, WMApm will be updated to support any number of batteries, and provide full information about ACPI power sources.

heatload is a tool for Linux which plots the CPU load against the CPU temperature as measured by the ACPI subsystem.

Installation:

As this package is made with the GNU autotools you should run ./configure inside the distribution directory for configuring the source tree. After that you should run make for compilation and make install (as root) for installation of heatload.

acpitail project shows in a tail-like way information off the battery-state, fan-states, temperatures, etc. of an ACPI capable system (mostly laptops).

acpi.py provides an platform-independent and uniform interface to ACPI.

Installation:

Linux 2.4 / 2.6

The Linux implementation reads informations from /proc/acpi/. Therefore a low level modul is not needed. Copy the file acpi.py from the acpi.py directory into your Python directory/site-packages (in most cases you must be root for that).

Be sure that the needed ACPI drivers are loaded (on laptops usually battery). You will have subdirectories in /proc/acpi/. Thats all.

Note: We have not tested acpi.py elaborately on Linux 2.6.

KToshiba is a battery and Fn-key monitoring for Toshiba laptops, but it does much more than that. KToshiba lets you configure the Fn-F# combinations with the supported options to let you have a complete and fully customizable setup for your specific model, and lets you use those special multimedia keys found on the front panel (prev, next, play/pause, stop), plus some others found on newer models.
It also features a Grapical User Interface (UI) higly integrated with KDE a powerful Desktop Environment, and a configuration module available through the Control Center or directly from the application panel menu.
All of these coulnt be done without the work of Jonathan Buzzard and his Toshiba utilities.

Driver (asus_acpi)
This driver provides support for extra features of ACPI-compatible ASUS laptops. It may also support some MEDION, JVC or VICTOR laptops (such as MEDION 9675 or VICTOR XP7210 for example). It makes all the extra buttons generate standard ACPI events that go through /proc/acpi/events, and (on some models) adds support for changing the display brightness and output, switching the LCD backlight on and off, and most importantly, allows you to blink those fancy LEDs intended for reporting mail and wireless status.

Unsupported Laptops
If your laptop is not supported (see dmesg after modprobe asus_acpi) :
