Fuzzy adventure 0.3

Fuzzy adventure 0.3

Fuzzy adventure is a fun 2D platform game. more>>
Fuzzy adventure is a fun 2D platform game.

This is a fun 2D platform game I am working on. It is in alpha stage, so expect bugs and bad maps, etc.

There is no story yet, but the general thought is that you play as a rabbit called fuzzy combating evil in some nice fantasy land. It is very similar to other platform games with some plans for some cool extras later. The major focus for me is to get the game to look good and polished.

There are a long todo list on things todo, so if you feel you like to help with graphics, levels, code or anything else, please join the project on sourceforge, or read in this thread I would really like some help with designing some 20-30 good and fun levels!
To run it on windows, download the .zip file, extract it somewhere and run the .bat file representing the suitable resolution for you. (default is 1280).

To run the game in Linux, just grab the latest source from CVS and compile!

How to play: Control the character with the arrow keys, use enter or control to select a level. Use control to run. Remember to give feedback!

KAdventure is a nice and simple adventure game providing fun and challenging puzzles. more>>
KAdventure is a nice and simple adventure game providing fun and challenging puzzles. The player is presented with a 2D view from above a playing field, where he has to move his player to the exit.
To get to the exit he has to overcome several obstacles, like walls, moving blocks, water and creatures.
I encourage anyone to create new levels using the new level editor, or even new objects and artwork.
Finally, if someone manages to create a Windows port hes welcome as well.
Version restrictions:
- Clicking Save Level immediately saves the current level, and will overwrite the old level without warning.
- Saving levels only works when the level files are writable. So you should have installed in your home directory or made the directory with the levels writable. No warning is given when saving fails.
- Pressing +/- to change the resolution has some redrawing issues in Edit mode. You can minimize and re-open the window to get a correct redraw.
- If you have changed the size of a level, you need to save and reload the level for the new size to take effect.
Enhancements:
- Fixed the crash when a mine exploded.
- Some small fixes and tidying up.
- Added 2 small new levels.

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money project quickly calculate money shared each month between multiple people for multiple bills. more>>
Since I am the person who manages the money for our house, I need an efficient way to keep track of our expenses and an easy way to calculate who owes what to whom at the end of the month. There are lots of good free software utilities for managing money like GnuCash, KMyMoney and the wonderful Gnumeric spreadsheet. I had been using Gnumeric to manage the money for the last 8 months, but now that we have some people staying at the house for just the summer, and other leaving and coming back in September, the spreadsheet was not able to adjust to these irregular circumstances.

The reason I decided to write my own application from scratch instead of using an already existing money management application was because my problem is multi-person orientation and most (if not all) of the money management programs I have tried are single-person oriented. For example GnuCash will let you setup accounts that show you all the money moving to and from a single person. But in my house things like food are paid by any person and shared by every other person. Thus to efficiently and easily calculate who owes how much, it must take into account the fact that one pizza may be paid for by one person, but it was eaten by 4 people. Also I dont want to have to divide up the amounts myself and put it into GnuCash with multiple accounts, because then I might as well be doing it on paper.

I could have spent my time learning to make an already existing application do exactly what I want; and I probably would have found something pretty close. But I decided that it would be faster to just program it from scratch and then I would be sure I would get exactly what I wanted. I think I was right; it took less then 2 weeks to finished writing this program.

The program is currently called Adventure Money, but if anyone can think of a better name for it let me know and Ill gladly change it.

When you first launch the program you will see it has five views, all of which can be seen in the screenshots below.

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge 3.0

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge 3.0

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge is a first-person action adventure game using the Aleph One (Marathon) engine. more>>
Excalibur: Morganas Revenge (EMR) is a unique scenario based upon the Aleph One (Marathon) engine. It is a first-person action adventure game, featuring an epic and in-depth story line. As a Federation Marine resting after your last mission, you start aboard the exploration class Starship Kronos where you learn that your real mission has yet to begin. You are re-acquainted with the AI Merlin, who introduces you to Kronos time traveling technology, and reveals your new mission: to save mankind from the clutches of Morgana and her minions. Through untamed raptor-infested jungles, castle arenas, and war-torn streets of the future, you will wield weapons from all time periods - including the Sword of Power, Excalibur - in an effort to thwart the diabolical plot that unfolds. The EMR adventure, spread across 42 solo levels, weaves a tale of truth and honor, knighthood and bravery, and darkness and treachery. EMR also delivers 27 adrenaline pumped network levels. EMR immerses you in an amazing new world, creating an addictive, fun and unique gaming experience.

For those that played EMR under the old Marathon Infinity engine, EMR 3.0 brings exciting new maps, new high resolution textures and landscapes, a completely new set of weapons, new monsters and friends, new scenery, new 16-bit sounds, original music, and a carefully woven original story line that transcends time. Using the Aleph One engine, EMR now sports loads of new special features using Aleph Ones MML and Lua scripting languages. Please note that the AlephOne engine is old technology improved. Architecture is still simulated 3D, so there are no ramps, bridges, and balconies, nor horizontal doors. The sprites in EMR are made up of 2D images posed in different views, not 3D models. Do not expect the latest state-of-the-art graphics engine, but you can expect an intriguing storyline, creative map architectures, engaging graphics, original spellbinding music, and mood-setting sound effects.

Head Over Heels 1.0.1

Head Over Heels 1.0.1

Head Over Heels is a spanky new remake of the classic Jon Ritman & Bernie Drummand isometric adventure. more>>
Head Over Heels is a spanky new remake of the classic Jon Ritman & Bernie Drummand isometric adventure.

Head Over Heels was released, um, a while ago. Around about 1987 if I recall correctly and it was immediately praised in the press as being quite the bestest thing ever. Not only was it a huge game for its time, it also had great graphics and was very addictive - if somewhat punishing in its difficulty level.

The variety in the locations was amazing and the challenges brilliantly designed. Quite rightly it was awarded with pretty much every accolade that could be bestowed upon it by the various magazines. Even today it still stands as a brilliantly designed title and has never really been bettered in the isometric adventure genre.

This version is a pretty darn faithful remake of the Speccy original except with a few spanking extra bits grafted on like a save system and subliminal flashes of erotic art (if I have my way!). I should perhaps tell you a bit about the team whos making the game. Im the one responsible for the graphics (apart from the lovely logo which you see adorning this site) and Im Graham Goring.

The programming is by the very talented Tomaz Kac (who only wrote this game because of a hastily scrawled diagram posted on the Retrospec mailing list about how you cant properly sort isometric games without complex masking), the excellent music is by Dorian Black (who I understand has a picture of an old man in his loft - ha ha ha!) and this website and the games logo is by Pierre Jovanovic.

Other contributors are James Curry, Kakarot, Milos Babovic, Metka Jostl and Sir Dave-O whose beta testing has been invaluable in both ironing out the programming bugs and also refining the layout of some of the rooms due to the handling being ever so slightly different to the Spectrum version.

On a personal note Ive also been encouraged by all the lovely people at the pixelation forum (pixelation.swoo.net) and of course the other members of Retrospec who have now grudgingly accepted that I can actually draw fairly good graphics.

The Scott Adams compiler, sac, allows you create adventure games in a straightforward syntax, and compiles them into the format that was used in the classic Scott Adams adventures - and which is therefore now understood by scottfree and various other interpreters for those old games.

If youre running a Linux system, theres a fair chance that you already have such an interpreter on your system - its probably called scottfree, ScottCurses, GnomeScott or something similar. Certainly Red Hat Linux distributions from 4.0 onwards (and maybe much earlier) have come with Scott Adams interpreters.

This manual describes the syntax of the sac file which sac compiles into Scott Adams format.

All of the examples are taken from Scott Adams first game, the classic Adventureland - a game dripping with atmosphere and nostalgia which I cant recommend highly enough.
