slackware spam filter 0.1.1

slackware spam filter 0.1.1

slackware spam filter allows you to install spam filtering capabilities onto a slackware 9.1 box. more>>
slackware spam filter allows you to install spam filtering capabilities onto a slackware 9.1 box.

this is a very simple way to install spam filtering capabilities onto a slackware 9.1 box. its pretty simple: install.sh will install/upgrade a few packages in the packages/ directory. then itll patch the system and the installed packages to work together and filter that evil spam.

finally there are some scripts in the scripts/ directory which you can use to maintain your spam filter and stuff. when the system is patched there will also be a few new tools for you to use;

sa-learn-md-wrapper is used by the spam filter as an easy way to learn spam from inside a maildrop filter, and sa-rebuild is an easy tool to rebuild the bayesian filtering index for a couple of users or all of them at once.

run install.sh to install the packages and revised configuration for each
package.

run enable_mail_for_user.sh with users to add and the script will add users and enable them for use with the mail system.

run create_fetchmail_config.sh to create (or add onto) a fetchmail config file in a users home directory. then run fetchmail for that user if you intend on using fetchmail

SlaBuntuVMware 0.2

SlaBuntuVMware 0.2

SlaBuntuVMware is a useful installation suite for installing VMware Server on Slackware or Ubuntu. more>>
SlaBuntuVMware is a useful installation suite for installing VMware Server on Slackware or Ubuntu.

The project automatically downloads packages from the VMware site.

Tested on Slackware 11. (Slackware 10.2 might not work - try)
Tested on Ubuntu Desktop Dapper Drake and Ubuntu Desktop Edgy.

IMPORTANT: this suite does not include the vmware server packs,
they are downloaded from the official VMware site.
You also need a server key for activating the product that you must
get (for free) from the VMware web-site (http://www.vmware.com/server/)

INSTALLATION (Slackware Linux) :

a) 1- The perfect setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
Slackware 11 (When you install the OS leave a big partion for your
virtual machines).

Using a good server with an hardware raid controller:

Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/sda1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/sda2 / 10Gb
/dev/sda3 /home 2Gb
/dev/sda4 /vm (160 Gb the rest for your virtual machines)

You must do a normal install with X support but no KDE.

2- Dropline Gnome (http://www.droplinegnome.net)
It is suggested you run gnome on Slackware 11. Gnome is not
included in the distro cds, therefore you must download
Dropline Gnome.

3- Kernel 2.6.x (with the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux)
(Default Kernel 2.4.33.3 works perfectly though)

CAUTION: take a look on www.vmware.com for the
supported kernel 2.6 versions.

OR

- If you have problems building 2.6.x vmware kernel module, just use
the normal 2.4.33.3 kernel supplied with your slackware, or try the test26.s
or huge26.s supplied with your slackware cds.

b) - The base setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
1- Slackware 11
2- Kde(not tested can have problems with some libraries)
(if you do not want to Download and install Dropline Gnome)
3- Kernel 2.4.33 (with the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux)

Using a normal pc with no raid controller (so you should use linux
raid software):

Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/md1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/md2 / 10Gb
/dev/md3 /home 2Gb
/dev/md4 /vm (100 Gb? the rest for your virtual machines)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do not want to use Gnome or Kde go at the end of this file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) After making sure you have everything (including the kernel sources
inside /usr/src/linux) you can run:

3) as root ./setup.sh

4) follow the steps provided
(you can hit ENTER to most of the questions (90%)

4) provide the vmware free key when needed
(ask for it on the site http://www.vmware.com)

6) under an X session: Run the command "vmware" and Enjoy vmware!

INSTALLATION (Ubuntu Desktop, Alternate,NOT Server):

1) edit /etc/apt/sources.list and uncomment all the lines starting with deb

2) open a terminal (xterm) and type "sudo ./setup.sh"

3) follow the steps provided
(you can hit ENTER to most of the questions (90%)

4) provide the vmware free key when needed
(ask for it on the site http://www.vmware.com)

5) Run the command "vmware" and Enjoy vmware!

INSTALLATION ON UBUNTU SERVER

- Not tried yet, but you should at first download and install X11 and gnome
and then follow the steps provided for Ubuntu Desktop above.

IMPORTANT INFO:

- Remember that vmware server packs are downloaded from the official vmware
site and are property of the VMware Company: http://www.vmware.com/

- Remember that in order to use VMware you should accept the terms of the
VMware license that will be displayed during the installation process.

- Remember that in order to installa VMware you should ask the VMware
fellows for a key. Do this at the VMware site: http://www.vmware.com/

- To create virtual machines you should use the vmware console.
a) Run the command "vmware" and the vmware console starts up.
b) Then connect to localhost.

- After created a virtual machine to run it from the cmd line use:
bash# vmware-cmd vmname.vmx start

KMSBII for Slackware 2.1.0

KMSBII for Slackware 2.1.0

KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu. more>>
KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu that replaces default KDE Menu Sidebar image with one designed specifically for your Slackware GNULinux distribution.
Having say a Slackware or Debian or FreeBSD or any other OS/distribution logo instead of default KDE gear may be a much better choice for those of you who are just in love with your favorite *nix.
Personalized it looks sexy, it looks witty, it stresses the facts.
This project proved to be a little success because people seem to appreciate it.
So, now here we are with updated package again and it is my pleasure to hear from you that youve given it a try.
Enhancements:
- Project structure has been redefined so that it is now template based and extensible. This is basically a first attempt to unify all types of KMSBII presented at kde-look.org.
- Installation script has been dramastically improved; added new features to control the installation process and the ability to perform post-installation actions; run `./install.sh help for more information. The script is quite verbose now and informs user of every action performed in a user-friendly manner;
- Abbreviations of the project related names have been introduced to provide a convenient way to refer to them. See "ABBREVIATIONS" section of `./install.sh help output;
- Graphic source files as well as KMSBI files have been changed once again, changes have been made to achieve the best look of the KMSBI;
- Added KMSBII for Slackware GNULinux distribution v11.0.0;
- Updated documentation.
- Licensing agreement has been introduced to protect intellectual property and rights of its owner. See COPYING file for more details and "Licensing Agreement" section of this file for short explanations on how this licensing agreement works.

Slackintosh 12.0

Slackintosh 12.0

Slackintosh is a port of Slackware GNU/Linux to PPC (Macintosh). more>>
Slackintosh is a port of Slackware GNU/Linux to PPC (Macintosh).

Russell Kroll was the first person who ported Slackware to PPC (http://slackintosh.exploits.org), but the project stalled with an unfinished 9.1 ..

I (Adrian) started again from scratch porting 10.1 to PPC, and ive stolen the name Slackintosh...

Please note that this port was not done by Russell, dont send him Bugreports.

I used the the Sources + SlackBuild files from Slackware 10.1. ..but i had to make a few changes:

The new Binutils from 10.x didnt like GCC, i used the 9.1 Version to build everything. The Installer uses BusyBox 1.0 and Linux 2.4 is not included, only 2.6.11.5 (Runs better on PPC .. imho)

Its not finished: Not all packages are ported. Youll get gcc, X, Mozilla, XFCE, Gimp.. but no
monsters like KDE & Co.

The installer maybe somewhat funky.. Missing packages are still listed and the yaboot installation isnt tested very well...

..but you should be able to get it running. It won the WFM (WorksForMe) price. (Tested on a MiniMac & iBook2)
