Filaments 1.0
Filaments is a library package that can be used to create architecture-independent parallel programs. more>>
Filaments is a library package that can be used to create architecture-independent parallel programs---that is, programs that are portable efficient across vastly different parallel machines. Filaments project virtualizes the underlying machine in terms of the number of processors and the interconnection.
This simplifies parallel program design in two ways. First, programs can be written (or generated) with the focus on the parallelism inherent in the application, not the architecture. Second, programs can be written that use familiar shared-variable communication.
Furthermore, Filaments uses a carefully designed API along with machine-specific runtime libraries and preprocessing that allow programs to run unchanged on both shared- and distributed-memory machines. Most importantly, applications programmed in Filaments run efficiently, achieving a speedup of over 4 on 8 processors or nodes in almost all tests that have been performed.
Platforms supported
Currently the following (homogeneous) architecture/OS combinations are supported:
- cluster of Sparc/Solaris
- cluster of X86/Solaris
- cluster of X86/Linux, kernel version 2.0.23 and above (older versions may work, but - have not been tested)
- multiprocessor SGI/Irix
- multiprocessor Sparc/Solaris
Note that Filaments does not run on heterogeneous platforms.

Templayer 1.4
Templayer is a layered template library for Python. more>>
Templayer is a layered template library for Python. Templayer currently supports only HTML generation, but its simple design is easily extended to support other file formats.
Templayer was created to offer an alternative to the more common ways of generating dynamic HTML: embedding code within the HTML (PHP etc.) , or embedding HTML within code (traditional CGI).
Neither of these methods allow for a clean separation of the form, or layout, of a page and the function of page generation. Instead of mixing HTML and Python, two rich and extremely expressive languages, we can add a small amount of syntax to each and keep the two separate and coherent.
Enhancements:
- Added a django_form convenience function for using Templayer with the Django web frameworks FormWrapper objects.
- Added an allow_degenerate parameter to Template.__init__. If set to True then a template file that is missing a contents block will be accepted and not cause an exception to be raised.
- Added a special layer name * that treats the entire contents of a template file as a layer.
- Added two new HTML Markup elements: - (pluralize,count,singular_markup,plural_markup) inserts singular_markup if count equals one, and plural_markup otherwise. - (&,entity) inserts the given HTML entity where valid entity values include "gt", "#161" and "#xA9".
- FileLayer.close now returns the file object to which it wrote.
- This simplifies the code required to use Templayer in Django view functions.
- Fixed a really obvious bug in the html_href function.

kassiope 0.15b
kassiope project is a tool for developing business applications. more>>
v These are applications that support business administration processes.
When completed kassiope will be a repository-based-program-generator. In the current version 0.10b it is a framework that simplifies development of business applications.
kassiope supports development of LAMP-applications. In fact kassiope-generated applications are true "write once, run anywhere"-applications. On server-side just a web-server, that supports PHP (typically Apache), and the MySQL-database are necessary (many other SQL-databases are supported either). On client-side only a web-browser is needed.
Enhancements:
- This release includes the following new features: single-record forms, tabbed pages, reference lists, new caching (PEAR Cache), text-areas fieldsets, and inter-form communication.

CPPSERV 0.1.99.0 (Samples)
CPPSERV is a web application server that provides Servlet-like API and JSP-like functionality to C++ programmers. more>>
CPPSERV is a web application server that provides Servlet-like API and JSP-like functionality to C++ programmers. CPPSERV consists of stand-alone daemon, listening on TCP socket for requests from web server, and web server module. Currently apache-2.0.x and ligttpd are supported.
CSP (C++ Server pages) are currently implemented as a precompiler that converts CSP source to C++ source of a servlet, which, in turn needs to be compiled into CPPSERV servlet. In other words - no run-time compilation/updates. This greatly simplifies the system, avoids long "first-time access" delay, and avoids dependancy on compiler and header files on the server.
Enhancements:
- This version features a completely non-interactive test suite for CPPSERV, an update to the latest SPTK API, and a few minor bugfixes.

SmartVariables 0.91 Beta
SmartVariables is a C++ library that simplifies network database programming by implementing seamless sharing and storage. more>>
SmartVariables is a C++ library that simplifies network database programming by implementing seamless sharing and storage of generic content. This C++ based network development platform is rather novel in that it "attaches" an email-like address to container and list objects. This makes the working program data "network aware" and distributed. SmartVariables simplifies application development and maintenance by removing complexity. The product provides an automated, intelligent data delivery capability for generic objects and lists.
Most systems manage data by moving the data in and out of databases - using a "buffer" to transfer data between the database and application working variables. SmartVariables removes this "buffer" by attaching the working variables directly to network information storage. When the storage changes, so do the variables... on all of the machines with copies of that information! Internally, distributed databases "push" altered content to machines accessing that - and deliver the data to each processs working variables automatically.
The library has two logical entities (container and list) that translate into six physical object-classes. Containers can hold almost any piece of data - from numbers to arbitrary-length strings to complex binary objects including multimedia and files. Containers can perform infinite-precision math. List objects hold containers - or other list objects as elements. Because SmartVariables behave similar to ordinary C++ intrinsic types, there is very little time required before a developer becomes productive with the library. Junior programmers can learn this environment with about 1 day of study.
The developers assert this platform is useful for a wide variety of common distributed processing tasks, including GRID programming, web-services and integration of legacy software. It is easy to use SmartVariables as "glue" to make systems communicate.. The company is internally using SmartVariables as a component in a massively-parallel distributed neural network: In that, distributed neurons process sequences of auto-associative invariant pattern representations and yield a percentage match for input pattern fragments. These neuron objects use SmartVariables objects as "generic axons" to widely exchange information.
Enhancements:
- This release compiles and runs using GCC 4.X.
- Order-of-processing for object updates has been fixed.
- New object XML conversion code has been added.
- There is a fix for the object name@localhost truncation bug.
- There are VC++ and build system "make install" changes.

SDPSL 0.4.3
SDPSL provides tools for discovering a RenderMan shaders arguments at runtime in a render-engine neutral way. more>>
SDPSL provides tools for discovering a RenderMan shaders arguments at runtime in a render-engine neutral way, either with external, per-shader XML metafiles, or by parsing a shaders source directly.
This significantly simplifies the development of render-engine-neutral 3D graphics tools, by eliminating linking to multiple, proprietary parsing libraries (such as libslcargs.a for BMRT, libsloargs.a for PRMan, etc.)
SDPSL also allows a shader author to communicate a much richer set of data to modelling apps in a standardized way. For example, a shader metafile can specify that a string argument is intended for use as a texture; a modelling app can use this information to adjust its UI accordingly.

GMP compiler 1.0.0
GMP compiler tool simplifies the use of GMP, the GNU multiple precision library. more>>
GMP compiler tool simplifies the use of GMP, the GNU multiple precision library. It scans a C source file for specially marked GMPS arithmetic expressions and replaces them with plain C.
The abbreviation gmpc stands for GMP compiler, or alternatively GMPS-to-C compiler. GMPS arithmetic expressions are straightforward infix expressions which transparently support the special types mpq_t, mpz_t and mpf_t as defined by GMP. GMPS means, rather unimaginatively, `GMP script.
No dependencies are added to the resulting C source, so there is no need to include additional header files or link with special libraries other than GMP.
Invoking gmpc
To translate a .gmpc file to C source, at least the input and output files must be given. The most concise invocation would look like this:
gmpc -o foo.c foo.gmpc
This will translate foo.gmpc into foo.c.
It is highly recommended to enable all warnings with the -Wall switch:
gmpc -Wall -o foo.gmpc foo.c
Other switches can be used to change the default behaviour of gmpc. They are listed in the following sections.
Enhancements:
- Added support for C-like compound assignments, increment and decrement operators.
- Fixed an assignment precedence bug.
- Temporary variables and constants are grouped together to make generated code more readable.
- Added Doxygen comments and configuration file.

Porcupine 0.1
Porcupine is a web application server that provides an object oriented framework for developing web applications rapidly. more>>
Porcupine is a web application server that provides an object oriented framework for developing web applications rapidly.
Many of the tasks required for building web applications as you know them, are either eliminated or simplified. For instance, when developing a Porcupine application you dont have to design a relational database. You only have to design and implement your business objects as classes, using the building blocks provided by the framework (datatypes). Porcupine integrates a native object database, no mapping required.
Another tedious task for web applications is the interface design, and the constraints imposed by HTML. QuiX, the servers integrated XUL motor, simplifies the interface design process. All you have to do is describe your applications interface in XML and write the appropriate event handlers. You dont have to waste time and money on widget implementations. QuiX comes with a variety of ready to use widgets, accelerating the development process.
Generally, every Porcupine application consists of three distinct layers. The first is the business layer consisting of the business objects which encapsulate the business logic.
The second layer binds the HTTP protocol with the first layers business objects. This layer is implemented using Python Server Pages or Servlets. If using XML-RPC, one common approach is to directly map an XML-RPC method to a business objects method.
The third layer, the presentation layer, usually consists of XML UI definitions and JavaScript event handlers.
The first two layers are executed server side and the third layer is executed on the client (browser).

LTI-Lib 1.9.15
LTI-Lib is a C++ Library for computer vision. more>>
The LTI-Lib is an object oriented library with algorithms and data structures frequently used in image processing and computer vision.
LTI-Lib has been developed at the Chair of Technical Computer Science (Lehrstuhl fuer Technische Informatik) LTI at the Aachen University of Technology, as part of many research projects in computer vision dealing with robotics, object recognition and sin
The main goal of the LTI-Lib is to provide an object oriented library in C++, which simplifies the code sharing and maintenance, but still providing fast algorithms that can be used in real applications.
It has been developed using GCC under Linux, and Visual C++ under Windows NT. We have not tested it under other platforms.
Many classes encapsulate Windows/Linux functionality in order to simplify dealing with system or hardware specific code (for example classes for multi-threading and synchronization, time measurement and serial port access).
The rest of the more than 300 classes deal mainly with one of following fields:
Linear algebra
Matrices, Vectors, Tensors, and functors to extract eigenvalues, eigenvectors, linear equations solutions, statistics, etc. are provided.
Classification and Clustering
Radial Basis Function classifiers, Support Vector Machines, k-Means, Fuzzy C-Means, classification statistics are just some examples of what you can do with the LTI-Lib.
Image Processing
The most classes deal with image processing problems. Different segmentation approaches, linear filters, wavelets, steerable filters, und much more are already available.
Visualization and Drawing Tools
The most difficult part when developing image processing algorithms in C++ is showing temporary images while debugging. Due to the object oriented architecture of the LTI-Lib, you just need to create a viewer object and give it the image you need to show. Thats it. An if you additionally need to draw some extra information on that image (some text, ellipses, boxes, lines or points) you can use one of the drawing objects. This will help you to save lots of time!
