Shmplayer 0.0.4

Shmplayer 0.0.4

Shmplayer executes a single instance of mplayer in the background and controls it through a FIFO. more>>
Shmplayer executes a single instance of mplayer in the background and controls it through a FIFO. Shmplayer supports many of the features youll find in XMMS and it is easily extendible.
However, unlike XMMS, shmplayer doesnt require an X server to be active. You can even use it from a remote shell. Shmplayer has also some unique features like "jgrep" that lets you jump to the first "grepped" match of the playlist.
Enhancements:
- When jumping to the last loaded playlist, xmplayer exits from shuffle mode.
- This bug has been fixed.
- If xmplayer is already running, the "play" command rewinds the current track.

SMPlayer 0.6.8

SMPlayer offers users a complete front-end for MPlayer, from basic features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like support for MPlayer filters and more. more>>

SMPlayer 0.6.8 offers users a complete front-end for MPlayer, from basic features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like support for MPlayer filters and more.

One of the most interesting features of SMPlayer: it remembers the settings of all files you play. So you start to watch a movie but you have to leave... don't worry, when you open that movie again it will resume at the same point you left it, and with the same settings: audio track, subtitles, volume...

Major Features:

  1. Configurable subtitles. You can choose font and size, and even colors for the subtitles.
  2. Audio track switching. You can choose the audio track you want to listen. Works with avi and mkv. And of course with DVDs.
  3. Seeking by mouse wheel. You can use your mouse wheel to go forward or backward in the video.
  4. Video equalizer, allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma of the video image.
  5. Multiple speed playback. You can play at 2X, 4X... and even in slow motion.
  6. Filters. Several filters are available: deinterlace, postprocessing, denoise... and even a karaoke filter (voice removal).
  7. Audio and subtitles delay adjustment. Allows you to sync audio and subtitles.
  8. Advanced options, such as selecting a demuxer or video & audio codecs.
  9. Playlist. Allows you to enqueue several files to be played one after each other. Autorepeat and shuffle supported too.
  10. Preferences dialog. You can easily configure every option of SMPlayer by using a nice preferences dialog.
  11. Possibility to search automatically for subtitles in opensubtitles.org.
  12. Translations: currently SMPlayer is translated into more than 20 languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese....
  13. It's multiplatform. Binaries available for Windows and Linux.
  14. SMPlayer is under the GPL license.

Loudhailer 0.8.1

Loudhailer 0.8.1

Loudhailer is a small and simple music player for the GNOME desktop more>>
A small and simple music player for the GNOME desktop
Loudhailer is an XMMS-like music player meant to integrate nicely in the GNOME desktop.
Its main interface is a playlist that is populated by drag and drop from your file manager, so it is not intended to be a library based player like Rhythmbox or Muine.
Loudhailer is written in C# and GTK# (runs with Mono) and uses GStreamer (part of GNOME) as a back-end for playing music.
The interaction with GStreamer is done via GST#, a C# wrapper library. The GST# dll is included in the distribution files since it is not widely available yet (current svn of GST# does not work with Loudhailer)
Loudhailer is licensed under the GPL (GNU General Public License).
Main features:
- Plays several different audio types, like ogg, mp3, flac, wav, aac and wma
- Small and clean interface
- Drag and drop song support
- Seek support and searching of songs
- Optional tray icon
- GConf support
- Repeat and shuffle mode
- Reads song title and artist metadata if available
- Manages and stores the playlist on disk

Hayes 1.4

Hayes 1.4

Hayes is the playlist for Noatun 2 / KDE 3 that attempts to be efficent for those users with large directories full of music. more>>
Hayes is the playlist for Noatun 2 / KDE 3 that attempts to be efficent for those users with large directories full of music. For these users, Hayes should be more efficient in speed and memory than the usual playlist. Plus, the playlist is updated in realtime as the directories change on-disk, so playlist maintenance is no longer an issue.

For everyone else, Hayes has some nice features, too: Full integration with the KDE global "MetaInfo" system for generic handling of tag information, Fully KDE standard user interface, proper shuffle behavior with a history, multiple sort modes (including a drag-reorderable custom sort), and nifty checkboxes that let one turn on and off particular files or directories.
The Konqueror integration adds convenience to playback and file management.

All playlist data is stored in .directory files, which are easily readable and reusable by other applications and tools.

mpgfe 1.0.0

mpgfe 1.0.0

mpgfe is a ncurses front-end for mpg123. more>>
mpgfe is a ncurses front-end for mpg123. It has advanced playlist editing features (load/save/add playlists in m3u format, order/shuffle playlist, move/add/delete playlist entries), resizing support.

An interesting feature is the ability to display the lyrics of the song that is playing (provided that you added the name of the lyrics file after the song file - in the playlist; you can do that from the program and save your new playlist).

Song information is being displayed while playing, in a customizable format (edit the "~/.mpgferc" file). Volume control is available (both channels at a time) and also movement. You can display the length of every song and total playing time.

The super user may run the player ("mpg123" or another program, at your choice) with real-time priority (playing will not be interrupted by disk access).

rstudio 0.6

rstudio 0.6

rstudio is a GTK+ GUI that controls programs used in recording, CD mastering, and managing a SHOUTcast server. more>>
rstudio project is a GTK+ GUI that controls programs used in recording, CD mastering, and managing a SHOUTcast server.
The "Radio Station" referred to here is a Shoutcast server. Before you can play any music on the station, you need to either record your own, or use a Peer-to-Peer program or other source to download some music.
The GTK-Gnutella button starts a peer to peer fileshareing program called GTK-Gnutella where you can get a wide variety of music free.
Start Radio station starts up the shoutcast server and its source client, which feeds an mp3 playlist to the server for broadcast.
The playlist file is created when you press the "Close" button in the playlist manager. The playlist manager lets you view either the downloaded files from GTK-Gnutella, or the permanent collection of files. You can select a file, then move it to the permanent collection, only if you are viewing the downloaded files. For either set, you may delete a file, or play it.
Audacity is a very versatile recording tool that can be used to create original content, or to record from other sources, such as a Shoutcast.com station, (or even your own shoutcast station).
Shoutcast.com button starts firefox, with the url of http://www.shoutcast.com so that you may listen to other shoutcast stations, or your own.
Kill XMMS stops any running xmms.
Quit exits rstudio.
GTK-Gnutella starts the P-2-P filesharing system.
K3B can be used to master audio CDs, or even mp3 data CDs that can be played on an mp3-compatible cd player or dvd player.
Enhancements:
- A shuffle playlist button was added.
- The audio player was changed to Audacious since Gentoo does not support XMMS.
- This version was tested on Gentoo AMD64 and Kubuntu 386.

Scalar 1.02

Scalar 1.02

Scalar is an addictive cross-platform puzzle game written in C++ using SDL library. more>>
Scalar is an addictive cross-platform puzzle game written in C++ using SDL library.

The goal of the game is to assemble the picture from pieces. Each picture is divided into pieces which are shuffled. You need to get each piece back to its original position. You accomplish that by swapping pieces (exchanging their positions).

You have a limited number of swappings for each picture. The game is over when you complete 3 images, and for each one you get the points. If you have a hard time playing this, you can look at the images directory and see what the final picture looks like.

Feel free to add more pictures to images directory and play with them (images can be in .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, any many other formats).

juice 0.03h

juice 0.03h

uice is a frontend for mpg123 and other players. more>>
Juice is a frontend for mpg123 and other players. It provides a nifty dialog-based playlist editor.

In order to play audio files, two player interfaces is provided. The mpg123-specfic interface uses the remote protocol of mpg123 (This feature was introduced in version 0.59r in order to accommodate generic frontends.)

The other player frontend is generic and allows for any player to be used. This is useful if you do not want to limit the functionality of juice to MP3s. Please note that this generic frontend is still in early beta phase and can be buggy.

It basically allows you to browse through your files in a "Midnight Commander"-like fashion. The MP3s you select is treated as a playlist which can be shuffled, rearranged, saved, etc.
