INSTALLATION

To install this module type the following:

To avoid installing to a system directory, if you dont have root access, you can change the installation prefix at Makefile.PL time with

This will install the module to the subdirectory lib/perl5 under the given prefix. If this is not already in perls include path, youll need to tell perl how to get to this library directory so you can use it; there are three ways:

in your environment (the easiest):

on the perl command line:

The purpose of this release is to test DropTeams network functionality with a large number of players. Anyone can play for free in order to help us test DropTeam but this build has the following important restrictions:
1. Single player is disabled. You can only play network games with this release. The full version of the game includes single player skirmish games and a single player campaign.
2. This release only allows you to play 2 scenarios. The full version of the game includes 21 scenarios with more available for free download after release.
3. This is a test release, which means the game isnt finished yet. It definitely still has bugs. We greatly appreciate your help in finding and fixing them all!
Apart from these restrictions, this is a fully functional release. Players can use all of the dozens of vehicles and deployable items in the game. The two included scenarios are "Ice Field" and "Raid". Ice Field takes place on the frozen wasteland of Arcanum, a once-inhabitable planet orbiting Luytens Star that has had its climate devastated by bombardments from the Mu Arae Entente. The Raid scenario takes place on an inhabitable moon called Hopewell. Hopewell orbits a gas giant in the Wolf 9773 star system. Almost half of the moons surface, called "The Scorch", is a radioactive Hell created by the destruction of an antimatter station that used to orbit the gas giant. The remainder of Hopewell has recovered from this disaster and is once again beginning to flourish with vegetation and a growing human population.
This release includes everything needed to connect to servers and play on the Internet or on Local Area Networks on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X Tiger. It also includes everything needed for players to run their own public or private servers. This is important since there will be a limited number of public servers made available by TBG. We plan to run only 6 servers for this public test release so players might need to run their own servers if they want to play frequently.

Geo:Coder:US 1.00 offers a full-feature facility for geocoding US addresses, that is, estimating the latitude and longitude of any street address or intersection in the United States, using the TIGER/Line data set from the US Census Bureau. Geo:Coder:US uses Geo:TigerLine to parse this data, and DB_File to store a highly compressed distillation of it, and Geo:StreetAddress:US to parse addresses into normalized components suitable for looking up in its database.

You can find a live demo of this code at http://geocoder.us/. The demo.cgi script is included in eg/ directory distributed with this module, along with a whole bunch of other goodies. See Geo:Coder:US:Import for how to build your own Geo:Coder:US database.

Consider using a web service to access this geocoder over the Internet, rather than going to all the trouble of building a database yourself. See eg/soap-client.pl, eg/xmlrpc-client.pl, and eg/rest-client.pl for different examples of working clients for the rpc.geocoder.us geocoder web service.

Major Features:

  1. Geo:Coder:US->geocode( $string )
    • Given a string containing a street address or intersection, return a list of specifiers including latitude and longitude for all matching entities in the database. To keep from churning over the entire database, the given address string must contain either a city and state, or a ZIP code (or both), or geocode() will return undef.
    • geocode() will attempt to normalize directional prefixes and suffixes, street types, and state abbreviations, as well as substitute TIGER/Line's idea of the "primary street name", if an alternate street name was provided instead.
    • If geocode() can parse the address, but not find a match in the database, it will return a hashref containing the parsed and normalized address or intersection, but without the "lat" and "long" keys specifying the location. If geocode() cannot even parse the address, it will return undef. Be sure to check for the existence of "lat" and "long" keys in the hashes returned from geocode() before attempting to use the values! This serves to distinguish between addresses that cannot be found versus addresses that are completely unparseable.
    • geocode() attempts to be as forgiving as possible when geocoding an address. If you say "Mission Ave" and all it knows about is "Mission St", then "Mission St" is what you'll get back. If you leave off directional identifiers, geocode() will return address geocoded in all the variants it can find, i.e. both "N Main St" and "S Main St".
    • Don't be surprised if geocoding an intersection returns more than one lat/long pair for a single intersection. If one of the streets curves greatly or doglegs even slightly, this will be the likely outcome.
    • geocode() is probably the method you want to use. See more in the following section on the structure of the returned address and intersection specifiers.
  2. Geo:Coder:US->geocode_address( $string )
    • Works exactly like geocode(), but only parses addresses.
  3. Geo:Coder:US->geocode_intersection( $string )
    • Works exactly like geocode(), but only parses intersections.
  4. Geo:Coder:US->filter_ranges( $spec, @candidates )
    • Filters a list of address specifiers (presumably from the database) against a query specifier, filtering by prefix, type, suffix, or primary name if possible. Returns a list of matching specifiers. filter_ranges() will ignore a filtering step if it would result in no specifiers being returned. You probably won't need to use this.
  5. Geo:Coder:US->find_ranges( $address_spec )
    • Given a normalized address specifier, return all the address ranges in the database that appear to cover that address. find_ranges() ignores prefix, suffix, and type fields in the specifier for search purposes, and then filters against them ex post facto. The intention for find_ranges() to find the closest match possible in preference to returning nothing. You probably want to use lookup_ranges() instead, which will call find_ranges() for you.
  6. Geo:Coder:US->lookup_ranges( $address_spec, @ranges )
    • Given an address specifier and (optionally) some address ranges from the database, interpolate the street address into the street segment referred to by the address range, and return a latitude and longitude for the given address within each of the given ranges. If @ranges is not given, lookup_ranges() calls find_ranges() with the given address specifier, and uses those returned. You probably want to just use geocode() instead, which also parses an address string and determines whether it's a proper address or an intersection automatically.
  7. Geo:Coder:US->find_segments( $intersection_spec )
    • Given a normalized intersection specifier, find all of the street segments in the database matching the two given streets in the given locale or ZIP code. find_segments() ignores prefix, suffix, and type fields in the specifier for search purposes, and then filters against them ex post facto. The intention for find_segments() to find the closest match possible in preference to returning nothing. You probably want to use lookup_intersection() instead, which will call find_segments() for you.
  8. Geo:Coder:US->lookup_intersection( $intersection_spec )
    • Given an intersection specifier, return all of the intersections in the database between the two streets specified, plus a latitude and longitude for each intersection. Provides a mechanism to convert arbitrary bit-strings into numeric digit strings. The transformation can be uniform or non-uniform depending on the type of distribution of the numeric digits achieved.

The former approach is useful for security-related applications such as calling cards and the such, which require a uniform digit distribution. The algorythm used to generate uniform distributions, while deterministic, is more constly than the non-uniform variant.

This module is distributed under the same terms and warranty as Perl itself.

Whenever the state of a connected joystick changes, oscjoy will send UDP packets with OpenSoundControl messages in them to the specified IP address and port. The oscjoy archive includes source code and binaries for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows XP.

Twindy is a window manager for linux and possibly any system running an X server, inspired by Tracktion, the multitrack audio editor/sequencer for Windows and OS X.
Twindy tries to apply Tracktions workflow, where everything is on screen at once, to a window manager.
As such, there are two panels, a main panel where new windows/programs open by default and may be selected using tabs, and a lower panel, which can only hold one window/program at a time.
The idea is that youll do your main work in the top panel, and use the bottom panel for a terminal, or a file manager youd want to keep open. See the screenshots page for some examples.
The philosophy behind Twindy isnt particularly complicated:
- Twindy is intended to be as simple as possible. That means it is only a window manager - its not intended to become a huge Desktop Environment like KDE/Gnome, with all sorts of applications developed specifically for it.
- All Twindys options must be configurable from Twindy itself - there shouldnt be any messing about with configuration files necessary. (okay, were not there yet, but eventually...)
- Twindy should be fairly lightweight - Im not entirely sure how well it succeeds in this yet, as I dont have a low-ish spec machine to test it on, but on my P4 laptop, it only takes up ~10MB while running, which I reckon is pretty good, compared to Gnome and KDE. Since it uses JUCE to do pretty much everything, it should be pretty good on this front, and its got very few dependencies (basically the X libs, and freetype).
Main features:
- Windows are automatically mapped to either the upper or lower panel, and fixed in position.
- Upper window panels are tabbed.
- Fully customisable colour scheme, colours are read from .tracktionscheme files, so you can import your favourite Tracktion 2 scheme. This is probably the best place to find .tracktionschemes.
- You dont have to start it from an xterm anymore!
- Fourteen user-customisable buttons in the lower left corner, which can be set to open a popup menu with a number of program entries, or just start a particular program.
- Can run any number of programs at startup (particularly useful for gnome-settings-daemon).
- Clicking the clock switches between showing the current time, or the date.
Enhancements:
- This is the last release of the project.
- Various small improvements to the UI have been made, such as labeling the upper and lower panel buttons, asking whether the user wants to log out, and providing buttons to switch apps between the upper and lower panels.
- Localization support was also added.

Chess::FIDE - Perl extension for FIDE Rating List. FIDE is the International Chess Federation that every quarter of the year releases a list of its rated members. The list contains about fifty thousand entries. This module is designed to parse its contents and to search across it using perl expressions. A sample list from April 2004 is provided under filename APR04FRL.TXT The following methods are available:

Constructor

There are two types of constructors - one takes a local file and another one retrieves the up-to-date zip file from the FIDE site, unzips it on the fly and parses the output immediately. In case of the second constructor no files are created. Also usage of an optional proxy is possible in the second case.

Each player entry in the file is scanned against a regexp and then there is a post-parsing as well which is implemented in function parseLine. The entry is then stored in an object defined by the module Chess::FIDE::Player (see its documentation). Every new object is inserted as a hash member where the FIDE ID of the player is the key. A sparse array could be used instead, though.

Searches the fide object for entries satisfying the conditional specified as the argument. The conditional MUST be a PERL expression within double quotes. All constant strings should be expressed within single quotes because the conditional is evaled against each entry. Any conditional including a regexp match that may be eval-ed is valid. For the fields to use in conditionals see Chess::FIDE::Player documentation.

Sshpass project is a tool for non-interactivly performing password authentication with SSHs so called "interactive keyboard password authentication".
Most users should use SSHs more secure public key authentication instead.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Enhancements:
- This release makes sure that authentication failures are terminated early.
- It will better detect when the child has exited.
- Error reporting has been improved.

Make->new creates an object if new(Makefile => $file) is specified then it is parsed. If not the usual makefile Makefile sequence is used. (If GNU => 1 is passed to new then GNUmakefile is looked for first.)

$make->Make(target...) makes the target(s) specified (or the first real target in the makefile).

$make->Print can be used to print to current selected stream a form of the makefile with all variables expanded.

$make->Script(target...) can be used to print to current selected stream the equivalent bourne shell script that a make would perform i.e. the output of make -n.

There are other methods (used by parse) which can be used to add and manipulate targets and their dependants. There is a hierarchy of classes which is still evolving. These classes and their methods will be documented when they are a little more stable.

The syntax of makefile accepted is reasonably generic, but I have not re-read any documentation yet, rather I have implemented my own mental model of how make works (then fixed it...).

In addition to traditional
