Shadow password file utilities package includes the programs necessary to convert traditional V7 UNIX password files to the SVR4 shadow password format, and additional tools to maintain password and group files (that work with both shadow and non-shadow passwords).
Enhancements:
- A problem where su set the enviroment too early when using PAM was fixed.
- A UID/GID overflow in groupadd, groupmod, useradd, and anusermod was fixed along with overflows in inactive, mindays, warndays, and maxdays in passwd, useradd, and usermod. groupmems was rewritten to use PAM and getopt_long().
- usermod was reverted back to previous -a option semantics.
- chsh and groupmod were rewritten to use getopt_long().
- Translations and man pages were updated.

squid_auth_shadow provides a shadow-based authentication module for squid.

squid_auth_shadow is a small authentication module for squid. It uses information from /etc/shadow for authentication.

Aliases for UNIX user names may be used and certain users may be explicitly blocked.

The module works on every system which uses shadow passwords.

Neverwinter Nights…endless adventure!

For the ZKM installation "Digital Body Automata" a realtime "blue-screen" driver software was used to build an interactive videowall made out of 16 TVs with interactive content on 12 of the screens.

System components were:

- 2x 8 TV screens arranged in a row on each side of the mural
- 5 Pentium200 PCs with 3 Matrox VGA video cards each and a Matrox Meteor framegrabber card
- 4 cameras imaging a red cloth screen below the TVs
- multiple VGA-to-TV converters, video splitters, cables, etc.
- RedHat Linux and custom X-Server that supports 3 video cards (needed at the time)

The TVs shows a cover image (stone texture). When the observer enters the space, a virtual shadow is cast onto the TVs revealing a detailed image underneath. The "shadow" is calculated from the obscured red sloth in the image path of the tiny wide-angle cameras hidden below the TVs.

Edastro places ever changing astrology charts for current time on your desktop.

The package contains 8 themes:

-2 (a black and a white) standard wheel charts
-2 standard wheel charts with hourglass look effect
-2 aspect/midpoint grids
-2 dispositor hierarchy charts

All the themes made in two differend colors, for dark and light desktop (for some dark themes an alternate background included with white shadow). The themes updating every 2 minutes as the sky spins a half degree. Click on the charts to display larger version.

The themes using the unbelievably good freeware ASTROLOG made by Walter D. Pullen (www.astrolog.org). I included an astrolog executable (compiled on 32bit without graphics) in the theme, because probably few able or have time to build it. Imagemagick used to resize images, make them still readable and transparent, and view them.

###To set up a theme:
1, Find out Your location coordinates. You can use these websites:

2, Extract the theme anywhere, change to that directory and start the !SETUP install script from command line and Answer the questions. Thats all...

###Playing with settings:
Check astrolog.dat config file for the calculation settings. Check the astrolog helpfile from its homepage to read about command line parameters, the 7 chart types etc.

###Possible problems, solutions:
If there is a problem try to rerun the !SETUP script.
If Astrolog executable is not working in Your system, get the source from www.astrolog.org and build a new astrolog, then copy it to the theme folder.

###Known problems:
The theme sometimes flashes on update

Clearbox is a customizable theme for the Metacity Window Manager.
A small GTK application allow configure the differents theme aspects, preview the theme and save it in the user themes folder.
The options that can be configured in the Clearbox theme are the following ones:
- Topbar style
- Clearbox-out, Clearbox-in or flat
- Gradient intensity (3 levels)
- Frame style
- Square corners or rounded corners
- Border width
- Colorized borders
- Interior outline
- 3D effect borders
- Title position
- Left or center
- Text with shadow
- Controls style
- Simple, with dark frame or with clear frame
- Buttons size
- Buttons gap

Avant Window Navgator (Awn) is a dock-like bar which sits at the bottom of the screen (in all its composited-goodness) tracking open windows.
Awn uses libwnck to keep a track of open windows, and behaves exactly like a normal window-list:
- Clicking an icon switches to that window, clicking again will minimise the window
- Right-clicking will bring up a menu extactly like that of what you see on the window-list, allowing you to max, min, close, resize etc the window.
- Dragging something on top of an icon will activate that window.
- Visually (and quite attractively) responds to needs attention & urgent events
- Can show windows from the entire viewport, or just the visible viewport.
The bar can be customised extensivley:
Choose between two engines:
- Glass engine. All the gradients can be changed to your tastes.
- Pattern engine. Thats right, you can now have a leopard print bar to match your underpants :).
- The border & internal border colours can be changed.
- The glow (the background of an active window icon) can be changed, to be as simple or as lavish as you require.
- Choose between sharp or rounded corners.
- Choose the text & shadow colour of the window title text.
All preferences can be adjusted using the provided avant-preferences program, which provides a friendly interface to the gconf settings.
