Jinamp Is Not An Mp3 Player 1.0.5

Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. more>>
Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. Jinamp runs in the background and does not require X or even a terminal.
A control program allows limited control over the playing (pause, next song, etc., but no seeking).
The actual playing is done by other programs, so it can be adapted for other purposes, such as shuffling video clips for advertising.
Enhancements:
- The control tools have been improved, in particular making once-off song requests possible.

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. more>>
LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. LINGOT is easy to use, accurate, and highly configurable. Originally conceived to tune electric guitars, its configurability gives it a more general character. (Tuning another instruments has not been tested).
It looks like an analogic tuner, with a gauge indicating the relative shift to a certain note --found automatically as the closest note to the estimated frequency--, indicating that note and its frequency.
The note will be found automatically, since the program hasnt any manual function mode (indicating the note to tune manually), for mantaining its general purpose.
We recommend using the tuner in conjunction with a sound mixer for selecting the desired recording source and the signal recording levels.
Main features:
- Accurate.
- Easy to use. Just plug in your instrument and run tuner.
- Very configurable via GUI. Its possible to change any parameter while the program is running, without editing any file.
- It works in an automatic way. It isnt necessary specify the note to tune; the program guesses it.
- Its free software. It has GPL license.
- Tuning other instruments than guitars is possible. Since this program guesses the note you are playing, it can be used to tune a piano, a bass, a violin, etc.
Enhancements:
- Files have been reorganized to a more "GNU-like" structure.
- Multi-lingual support has been added.

Damn Small Linux Not 0.1 RC4

Damn Small Linux Not 0.1 RC4

Damn Small Linux Not provides a reliable, and compact array of applications based mostly on the GTK2 libraries. more>>
Damn Small Linux Not is built on Damn Small Linux technology. Damn Small Linux Not is also small, bigger than DSL but smaller than most. Damn Small Linux Not provides a reliable, and compact array of applications based mostly on the GTK2 libraries.
DSL-N is not an evolution of DSL, it is not intended as progress over the philosophy of DSL, but is intended for a different user, or the same user under different circumstances.
Main features:
- it is small
- it has software which is feature full
- it takes advantage of redundant lib dependencies and suits to pack features into a tight distribution
- DSL-N has a modern kernel and does not squeeze out critical modules that would limit compatibility
Like DSL, DSL-n can:
- Boot from from a CD as a live Linux distribution (LiveCD)
- Boot from a USB pen drive
- Boot from within a host operating system (thats right, it can run *inside* Windows)
- Run very nicely from an IDE Compact Flash drive via a method we call "frugal install"
- Transform into a Debian OS with a traditional hard drive install
- Run fully in RAM
- Modularly grow -- DSL-N is highly extendable without the need to customize
- The applications in DSL-N were chosen because they are functional, usable, and relatively compact. Unlike DSL, DSL-N has GTK2 applications, that means DSL-N will need more ram and CPU cycles than DSL. To have a pleasant experience, we recommend at least 64MBs and 300MHz.
DSL-N, unlike DSL, does not have a hard size cap, but it is being developed by the DSL team, and we hate bloat! So, dont expect DSL-N to get too big.
Why are you making this offshoot of DSL when DSL is so successful? Because a 50MB, GTK2 based distribution, with a 2.6.x kernel and excellent hardware detection/support is a contradiction in terms. DSL-N represents our best effort to stay compact while providing for the needs of those who want the Bling Bling such as SATA support, Gnumeric, Abiword, gMplayer.
Enhancements:
- Added "noprompt noeject" to default boot options for frugal installs.
- Fixed madwifi wireless.
- Fixed chpasswd vs passwd. "secure" boot option now works correctly.
- Added gnu-utils into the base iso.
- Fixed USB2 not loading bug
- Improved mydsl=hdxy when specified to not also search this makes it consistent with restore boot option.
- Enhanced exitcheck to prompt warning if no backup device is selected when requested to save special settings.
- Fixed multi user hard drive install bug.
- Added murgaLua Lua/Fltk development toolkit.

Not A Commander 1.0-SNAP-051109

Not A Commander 1.0-SNAP-051109

Not A Commander is an X11 file manager. more>>
Not A Commander is yet another file manager modeled after the Norton Commander. Good integration with the command line is the primary goal.
This project is using the technology of Natural Stupidity for development: first get something working at all, then gradually improve it. My primary targets are the features that I personally would use. The features that I wont use anyway are not planned to be implemented at all (though if someone would contribute an implementation I would gladly accept it - as long as it does not break any of the things that I use).
Build
Run `make. That should build all the binary parts. The X11 headers are required for build. You may need to modify the Makefile for peculiarities of your particular system (directory names, libraries etc.).
Installation
Run `make install. By default the `nac binary is instaled into /usr/local/bin and the rest of files is installed into /usr/local/lib/nac (which is referred further as "the NAC directory").
These directory names can be changed in the Makefile. If the configuration file nac.sysrc was present in the NAC directory before installation, it will be moved into nac.sysrc.old.
Configuration
The default configuration of NAC can be changed with rc files. There are two rc files:
per system - nac.sysrc in the NAC directory per user - .nacrc in the users home directory
These files are common Tcl scripts that can be used to change the tunable values. NAC first sets the built-in values, then loads the system-wide rc file (if present), then loads the users rc file (if present). Thus the system-wide script can examine the built-in values and modify them was neccessary, and the users script can do the same thing with the result
of the system-wide script.
Be careful with the syntax, in case of an error in the rc scripts NAC wont start.
The list of the supported tunables and their values can be found at the top of tune.tcl. For now (the alpha phase of development) its expected to be quite liquid and change between snapshot releases. Probably some sort of versioning will be added after it stabilizes.
The sample system rc file included in a release contains only one setting - the name of font to use (most probably you dont have the font "koi9x16" which is the built-in default).
The default initial size of the window is defined by panel dimensions, variables named set panel:filespercolumn (number of rows in panels), panel:ncolumns (number of columns in panels), panel:columnwidth (width of a column in dots). The internal xterm is automatically resized to fit these dimensions. Alternative size in pixels or xterm characters can be
selected with command line options.
Enhancements:
- Various bugs were fixed and workarounds were included for bugs in glibc and Tk.

ScryMUD 2.1.13

ScryMUD 2.1.13

ScryMUD is a MUD with a Java client. more>>
ScryMUD project is a MUD with a Java client.
ScryMUD is a MUD written completely from scratch that has a full feature set including persistant belongings, a ree-based skill/spell system, game-navigated vehicles, complex scripting, player-owned stores and houses, and much more. The distribution also comes with Hegemon, a Java client that provides a nice UI for ScryMUDs Online Building.
Main features:
- Completely original world and code. We have 6000+ rooms, 400+ mobs and 400+ objects.
- Integrated Java Client (applet/application) which offers a nice interface to the game and to the Online Building tools.
- Player controlled shops (you get the goods, set the prices, and collect the dough.)
- Can Brew potions. This requires the brew skill, a cauldron, and the necessary ingredients.
- Can Scribe Scrolls. Requires a scroll, pen, and knowledge of the spell.
- Spells become less powerful when there are many scrolls/potions that can cast them in the game. This balances the above features.
- Skills and Spells are learned in a tree-like manner. You must learn the pre-requesites to at least 50% before you can move on to the skills/spells it enables. So, you can customize the character to your liking and are limited only by the number of practices you have.
- Game-navigated vehicles (though not widely used in the game yet.)
- Complex NPC scripting so that the builders can make quests and other interesting things.
- Mobs have some personality traits, which can influence their behavior in battle and afterwards. Some will track you down and kill you (and then return to their starting point. Others may heal you if you are badly hurt.
- Bulletin boards for in-game communication, as well as gossip, yell, and other channels.
- Banks to keep your cash safe for you.
- Configurable ANSI color.
- Some multi-lingual capability.
- Released under the GPL
Enhancements:
- This release includes the addition of weather, several new spells and socials, minor improvements to ranged combat, and assorted bugfixes.
- Daemonizing code in particular should be a bit safer now.

tag-not-ed is a TAGged NOTes EDitor.

This is the homepage of tag-not-ed, my favourite program. [You might have read this before somewhere else] Give it a try if you feel like it.

It is a system which allows you to create and manage text documents by attaching tags to them.

Later, documents can be retrieved by running queries on those tags (e.g., "show me all docs that deal with dogs and cats").

FrameMaker::FromHTML 0.03

FrameMaker::FromHTML 0.03

FrameMaker::FromHTML is a Perl class to convert HTML file to FrameMaker MIF. more>>
FrameMaker::FromHTML is a Perl class to convert HTML file to FrameMaker MIF.

SYNOPSIS

use base FrameMaker::FromHTML;

use strict;

my ($infile, $outfile);

$infile = shift;

($outfile = $infile) =~ s/.htm[l]*$/.mif/;

# Insert routine to validate HTML -- eg, use HTML-Tidy

# VERY important -- this script is fragile at any time

# but worse with bad HTML

my $p = FrameMaker::FromHTML->new($outfile) ;

$p->parse_file("$tempfile") or die "Parsing failed on $tempfile: $!n";

Use to convert properly formed HTML into FrameMaker MIF. Likely to be found buggy, particularly with funny HTML. Errors in MIF are usually flagged in FrameMaker console when FrameMaker is used to open the file.

See example file htmltofm.pl, which may be all youll need to get it working on some files. In which case, youll need to have HTML-Tidy installed to clean up your HTML.

Texinfo 4.9

Texinfo 4.9

Texinfo is the official documentation format of the GNU project. more>>
Texinfo is the official documentation format of the GNU project. It was invented by Richard Stallman and Bob Chassell many years ago, loosely based on Brian Reids Scribe and other formatting languages of the time. Texinfo project is used by many non-GNU projects as well.

Texinfo uses a single source file to produce output in a number of formats, both online and printed (dvi, html, info, pdf, xml, etc.). This means that instead of writing different documents for online information and another for a printed manual, you need write only one document. And when the work is revised, you need revise only that one document. The Texinfo system is well-integrated with GNU Emacs.
