view3dscene 2.1.0

view3dscene 2.1.0

view3dscene project is a viewer for 3D scene files. more>>
view3dscene project is a viewer for 3D scene files.
Main features:
- Two navigation methods are available: Walk (walking like in FPS (Doom, Quake) games, with collision detection, gravity and related features available) and Examine (this allows you to easily rotate and scale the whole model).
- Convertion of 3DS, OBJ and GEO files to VRML 1.0
- You can also simply open and save any VRML 1.0 or 2.0 file and in effect view3dscene will work as a "pretty-printer" for VRML files.
- Built-in ray-tracer (that is also available as a separate command-line program, rayhunter) to generate nice views of the scene (with shadows, mirrors, and transmittance). Classic ray-tracer implements exactly VRML 97 lighting equations.
Supported file formats:
- VRML 1.0 and 2.0. Almost complete VRML 1.0 support is ready. VRML 2.0 (aka VRML 97) support is also done, although some advanced features are missing right now (like prototypes, scripting, interpolators, sensors). VRML files usually have WRL extension.
- See VRML implementation status for detailed list of supported features. See also my extensions to VRML, my VRML test suite, and finally the official VRML specifications.
- Also many OpenInventors 1.0 ASCII files (extension IV) are handled. Mainly its because Inventor 1.0 and VRML 1.0 are very similar formats, but view3dscene handles also some additional Inventor-specific nodes.
- 3d Studio 3DS format. Not every information in 3DS is handled by view3dscene but most important things, like materials, texture coordinates and texture filenames are supported.
- Wavefront OBJ files. Only very basic support : geometry and texture coords. Texture named default_obj_texture.png in the current directory will be used if texture coords are specified in the file.
- GEO. Some simple format; I dont even know what program writes files in this format, it just happened that I had a few files in this format. No, its not Videoscape GEO and its not Houdini GEO.

Coindesigner is a RAD (rapid application development) system to build 3D applications using Coin3D openInventor.
Coindesigner allows to write simple 3D scenarios just using drag&drop, so users require no programming acknoledges at all to use it.
Coindesigner is a system equivalent to glade or qt-designer, where we can choose components from the openInventor toolkit, add them somewhere in our scene and configure them in a very easy way... and all changes are applied to the scene on the fly!
Main features:
- Reads and write scenes in native openInventor file format
- Can import geometry from VRML, 3ds, DXF, OFF (from geomview), SMF, sphere trees .SPH and XYZ point clouds file formats.
- Can export geometry to file formats VRML2, SMF, OBJ, STL, OFF y XYZ.
- It allows to visualize volumetric data (such as medical CT) if SIM Voleon is available in your system.
- Makes some basic geometrical operations, as mesh reduction (with QSLIM) and convex hull computation.
- It includes cdsview, an minimalistic external viewer that allows you to view and distribute scenes without need of coindesigner.
- Provides helpers to define colors (with QColorDialog), file paths (with QFileDialog), menus for enumerated types and much more...
- Allows to use manips to configure Lights and Transform nodes. Just use the right mouse button to interchange between those nodes and their manip!
- GUI has been translated to English, Spanish and Portuguese
- Includes the complete coin reference and several tutorials directly brownsables from the application.
- Its as multiplatform as coin3d and Qt are. It works under Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

Cinelerra 2.1

Cinelerra 2.1

Cinelerra is a complete audio and video production environment for Linux. more>>
Cinelerra is a complete audio and video production environment for Linux. Cinelerra replaces Broadcast 2000.

Heroine Virtual Ltd. presents an advanced content creation system for Linux. Cinelerra takes what normally is a boring server operating system - studied in computer science classrooms, hidden in back offices - and turns it into a 50,000 watt flamethrower of multimedia editing power.

Thats right kids. Unlike most of the Linux solutions out there, Cinelerra requires no emulation of proprietary operating systems, no commercial add-ons, no banner advertizements, no corporate dependancies, no terrorists, just a boring old Linux box.

Cinelerra does primarily 3 main things: capturing, compositing, and editing audio and video with sample level accuracy. Its a seemless integration of audio, video, and still photos rarely experienced on a web server.

If you want to make movies, you just want to defy the establishment, you want the same kind of compositing and editing suite that the big boys use, on the worlds most efficient UNIX operating system, its time for Cinelerra.

What youll find here is the heroinewarrior version of Cinelerra. This is the version that supports what we need to do at Heroine Virtual Ltd. and is the same tree that was started in 1997. As time passes and new students come and go from the Linux scene, new forks of Cinelerra emerge that are more suited to the community. Today youll probably find the cinelerra.org fork more useful.

They moderate what parts of our fork get into their fork while contributing anything they want while we moderate what parts of their fork get into our fork while putting in anything we want, which makes it pretty much even.

SME Server 7.2

SME Server 7.2

e-smith is a server-oriented distribution. more>>
The SME Server server and gateway is free software (also referred to as open-source software) and is freely available for anyone to download.
This software is brought to you by the community and contribs.org. Many individuals and organizations (both commercial and non-profit) use the SME Server as their primary network server and gateway.
We would like to remind you that the SME Server software is licensed under the General Public License (GPL). This means that if you alter the software and distribute the altered version, you must make the source code for your altered version freely available.
The GPL is a large part of why free software has made such an impact on the commercial scene. By restricting anyone from making proprietary modifications, the GPL ensures that improvements find their way back to the original code base, thereby creating an explosive rate of technical advance.
The difference between traditional development and GPL development is the difference between a light bulb - where output is radiated in many directions - and a laser - where output is reflected back in a coherent way to produce a greater, more focused result.
Its main design focus is simple, centralized configuration, along with security and ease of installation.
Enhancements:
- This release is based on CentOS 4.5 and all packages have been updated to the latest releases. This release contains many new features, all released updates for SME Server 7.1 and fixes for many reported problems. Upgrades will be available by CD, the Software Installer and command line. All users should upgrade to this release.

KShaderDesigner preview2

KShaderDesigner preview2

KShaderDesigner is an Intergrated Development Environment for graphic vertex and fragment shaders. more>>
KShaderDesigner is an Intergrated Development Environment (IDE) for graphic vertex and fragment shaders. It supports the Cg programming language.
- It interfaces the NVIDIA Cg Compiler
- It allows to block Cg parameters from the scene and set them manually for debugging purpose
- Its architecture allows graphic developpers to add new complex OpenGL scenes to the program, and apply shaders on them
- It supports the latest hardware profiles, like VP40 et FP40 for GeForce 6 GPUs.
The released version is only a preview, it is not really usable. I would like testers to try compilation, project loading, and basic OpenGL rendering. An FX-class Nvidia card is needed for fragment shaders. Project creation and saving is not implemented yet.
An example project is also provided, it implements a shadow mapping algorithm as well as bump mapping.
Please report all compilation errors, feedback or whatever by email.
You will need the Nvidia Cg Toolkit (URL given in configure script).
Enhancements:
- Updated the build system to the latest bksys development version, using the new modules system
- The rendering window now redraws even when no project is running
- Added a per-pixel lighting example. This is an unoptimized implementation of the Blinn-Phong lighting model, using per-pixel calculation. Usefull for benchmarking.

Stage Managers Helper 0.4.4

Stage Managers Helper 0.4.4

SMHelper provides Web-based tools to speed up the process of keeping paperwork for each show. more>>
SMHelper provides Web-based tools to speed up the process of keeping paperwork for each show.
Stage Managers Helper is a set of PHP scripts to assist the Stage Managers of the world in keeping all the minutiae and paperwork which is associated with live entertainment under control. Rather than have to recreate the form for each show you use, or open a heavy application like a word processor, I find it much easier to just let the scripts generate the layout, and then fill in the blanks and click away. This should hopefully automate show management to some degree, and in so doing, ease the load on web Stage Managers servers.
Hopefully, by having the forms available via a web browser, the SM need only have a computer with access to the server and need not worry whether s/he remembered to pack their computer. In addition, since the data is stored on the server, the other members of a production team need only visit the website to see the days report, should they lose their paper copy or simply not desire more paper in their lives.
That said, I cant create this software alone. I need feedback. I want to know what you need or want from this software. If I can get it done in any sane way, Ill put it in the works. Currently planned:
Collation: Collect all data for one person/department into a single page, automatically, over a range of dates.
Currently included [and at least semi-working] in the package are pages for:
Generating Daily Reports
Viewing Daily Reports [Soon with print view]
Basic Show Info Setup
Props list generation and maintenance
Collation and summarization
French Scene Setup and Tables Generation
Enhancements:
- Added actual_sections.php. Script for setting up the breakdown of your show. *Fixed up french_scener.php to display entered data, at least rudimentarily. *Cosmetic fixes: Unified title blocks, interface consistency where possible
