NVBase is a highly customizable open source enterprise search engine licensed under LGPL. The project comes with several search devices like RSS, HTML, Samba, NNTP, Database and local file systems, agents for passive searching and a seamless integration of popular authentication systems. Samba TNG is another SMB server for Unix-like operating systems. This software is concentrating on MSRPC interoperatability with Windows NT, 2000, XP, and 2003.
It provides PDC support and tools to remotely administer NT servers and workstations. Note that Samba TNG is currently in a beta stage. If you need advanced file/print serving capabilities, you should opt for Samba classic.

PySamba is a Python library that provides a full wrapper for the Samba CLI library provided with samba-3.0.24.

PySamba is a full wrapper based in the work of Tim Potter. In fact, PySamba is built as a Python C extension over the cli library provided with samba-3.0.24 and a Python module that hides the complexity of the lower layer (smb) providing high-level commands like Mkdir or DiskAvail. At now, PySamba provides a fully functional samba wrapper, allowing the developer to interface any samba-capable device much like python’s ftplib does.

PySamba has been written by Juan M. Casillas and released under GNU GPL public License.

You need a gcc compiler, a python running environment (tested with 2.4.3) and the samba-3.0.24 sources. PySamba Has been developed under an UNIX environment (HP-UX) and tested against native NT shares.

Simple & Easy

from pysamba import * ... and go. Server login is encapsulated in the constructor, so just provide the require parameters, and start working with your favorite smb share. PySamba is easy to use, and easy to install.

Installation:

See the INSTALL file, but the installation process is the following:

Get Samba-3.0.24 and uncompress it.

copy py_smb.c and py_smb.h into samba-3.0.24/source/python replacing the existing files

go to samba-3.0.24/source and issue a configure --with-python=python. Then make , make install, make python_ext, make install This will install python’s dynamic library.

Import pysamba from the directory where pysamba is, or copy it to any place under the PYTHONPATH

NBFW is a smb forwarder. With the Samba NetBIOS forwarder, nbfw, you can browse the local windows network transparently to and from your masqueraded network.

This will most likely be of use for people who have Windows machines on a backend network who want to browse the Network Neighbourhood on the normal network though their masquarading firewall.

If your Samba is not working ok, NBfW will not work, too. NBfW can cause major problems if you dont configure it correctly. And it has ... It really helps to know what youre doing.

FerrisSambaModule is a VFS module for Samba 3.x which allows it to provide shares which use libferris as a data source.
Thus, anything libferris can access can be shared as a filesystem via Samba, including LDAP, PostgreSQL, XML files, sleepycat dbXML database, evolution mail client, and queries against libferris various indexes.
Enhancements:
- STLport use was made optional.
- Some fixes were made for mounting eaquery:// as a Samba share.

GSAMBAD is a frontend for the Samba file and print server. GSAMBAD project features multiple local and remote user and group imports, on the fly share creation, and user handling, including randomization of usernames and passwords.

Catalyst::Example::InstantCRUD is a CRUD scaffolding for Catalyst.

SYNOPSIS
instantcrud.pl -name=My::App -dsn=dbi:Pg:dbname=CE -user=zby -password=pass
The instantcrud.pl executable creates a skeleton CRUD application in current directory. The parameters are: name of the application and database connection details.

The script will create CRUD interface (CReate, Update, Delete) with paging and sort for all tables defined in the accessed database. The Create and Update forms let you manipulate also on relations (even many to many). It includes some basic authentication code.

I am waiting for suggestions what else basic functionality would be nice to have in the generated application.

When the code is generated you can run the application:

$ My-App/script/my_app_server.pl
You can connect to your server at http://zby.aster.net.pl:3000

To access the CRUD interface to the tables you need to add /tablename (in lowercase) to the address: http://localhost:3000/tablename (Note that if the table name has a underscore, that underscore should be deleted in the address so table foo_bar is available at http://localhost:3000/foobar, this is due to some conversions made by the underlying libraries).

The generated application will use DBIx::Class for model classes and Template::Toolkit for View.

CUSTOMISATION AND EXTENDING

The first place for customisations are the Template Toolkit templates and the CSS file. The CSS file used by the application is root/static/pagingandsort.css. The templates are generated in directories named after the controllers in the root directory.

To customize the forms used for creation and modification of records you can modify the interface_config.dat file generated in the application main directory. For now its content is a dump of a perl structure. I hope it is enough self explanatory for some simple modifications. The most basic one should be deleting some field, by deleting its hash from the list, and changing the order of fields.

The generated controller is a subclass of Catalyst::Example::Controller::InstantCRUD. You can use the standard OO technique of overriding the documented methods to customize and extend it.
