Lingua::RU::Charset 0.02
Lingua::RU::Charset is a Perl extension for detecting and converting various russian character sets. more>>
Lingua::RU::Charset is a Perl extension for detecting and converting various russian character sets: KOI8-r, Windows-1251, CP866, ISO-8859-5, X-Mac-Cyrillic, russian text in english letters, russian part of Unicode and UTF-8. Lingua::RU::Charset module can be especially useful for computers with broken cyrillic locales (like foreign web hosts).
SYNOPSIS
use Lingua::RU::Charset qw (:CHARSET);
use Lingua::RU::Charset qw (:CONVERT);
use Lingua::RU::Charset qw (:CONVERT :CHARCASE);
use Lingua::RU::Charset qw (any2koi koi2lc koi2uc);
More documentation and examples coming soon...
NOTE
Unfortunately I dont have time to implement the Unicode and UTF-8 subroutines. But I am sure that such functions would be useful for interesting Perl scripts exchanging russian data with Java servlets. So you are welcome to submit some code!

grammydotru123 0.2rc4
grammydotru123 eases interaction with the MP3 portal grammy.ru. more>>
grammydotru123 eases interaction with the MP3 portal grammy.ru.
It works in this way: you seek up the url of an artist or an album at grammy.ru, and then just invoke
grammydotru123
or
python grammydotru123
and it fetches all songs belonging to the artist/album (a song of an album of an artist is considered to belong to the artist, of course).
Life is not always that easy, though. It might happen that a certain file is not accessible when you try it, or you get some rubbish instead of the file you asked for (eg., a html file reporting an error). There are some coomand line options for coping with this kind of complexity, check them out by "grammydotru123 -h". Eg., the program makes it possible to check the size of the downloaded files, and to test the files by passing them to an outer program and match the resulting output against a regexp (currently the "file" command is used, test your "file" command on an existing mp3 file before using grammydotru123, and change the pattern by the appropriate option if necessary -- otherwise all downladed files will be judged being corrupt!!!)
Main features:
- Recursively download songs belonging to an album or artist
- Testing downloaded files
- Retrying unsuccessfull attempts
- Scheduling currently hopeless downloads to better times
- Saving schedules to file and load them
- If you run multiple instances of grammydotru123, number of simultaneously active ones can be limited (in order to aviod refusal by the server)
Enhancements:
- Fixed a bug which caused that a download wasnt retried if it resulted in a corrupt file
- Now those sometimes occuring "CLICK HERE!" redirecting pages are handled as well
- Added one-letter equivalents to some long options
- Removed a file from the package which was there only by accident

rip-utils 0.2.1
rip-utils is a command line toolkit for ripping, encoding, tagging, organizing, compiling, and managing audio archives. more>>
rip-utils is a command line toolkit for ripping, encoding, tagging, organizing, compiling, and managing audio archives. Each utility participates in a common framework that allows commodity tools (such as file browsers, multimedia players and streaming servers) to access your digital catalog simply and effectively.
rip
A single command (tuned for optimal quality using cdparanoia and LAME) drives the ripping, encoding and tagging process from end to end:
% ru rip
No further intervention will be necessary. Each track will be extracted from the compact disc, encoded, tagged (using album information obtained from a freedb server) and filed in a sensible location (~/mp3 by default).
list, tag, diff and submit
For those of us who want to exercise some editorial control, rip-utils also provides powerful support for retrieving, modifying, comparing and submitting album information using freedb servers. In addition to supporting standard editing features based on freedb naming conventions, rip-utils offers convenient methods for performing otherwise tedious tasks such as tagging multi-artist compilations or properly capitalizing album and track information; when maximum flexibility is required, regular expressions can be used. For a detailed example, see:
ru tag + cddb read misc 710ef109
organize and compile
Furthermore, rip-utils uses portable mechanisms to organize your entire audio collection. You can use rip-utils to create file system-based categories or to compile standard Internet playlists. Every file created or managed by rip-utils can be easily used without modification by most multimedia players, streaming servers (such as the one provided with the SliMP3 Player) and operating systems that might access your recordings using a shared file system (e.g., Samba). At the same time, every effort is made to ensure that each file name and path is legibly formatted so that humans are able glean as much from the file system as their software:
Hardfloor - The Best of Hardfloor%3A The Mixes.m3u
Hardfloor/The Best of Hardfloor%3A The Mixes/07. Depeche Mode - Its No Good (Hardfloor Remix).mp3

vcr 1.10
vcr is a text-console video recorder. more>>
VCR is a program which enables you to record a program using a video grabber card thats supported by the video4linux drivers. It doesnt require a graphical environment, and you can use all popupular windows codecs (like DivX, Indeo Video 5, etc) because VCR is built around the avifile library.
Now, you can finally record your favourite program from a remote place, because Murphys law dictates that you remember to record it when youre as far away from your home as possible...
System requirements:
- Depending on the codec used, a fast CPU (My celeron-466 CPU copes well enough to record divx low-motion @ 25fps, just occasional frame drops)
- Diskspace (you can never have enough of that!)
- Avifile library: http://divx.euro.ru/
- XawTV: http://www.strusel007.de/linux/xawtv/ (you can do without, but if you want to use tuner presets, you want to read the manual on how to make a .xawtv config file)
- Aumix: http://jpj.net/~trevor/aumix.html (Its not required either, but its very useful to set the recording device for your soundcard (which you probably want if you want to record sound from the soundcards line-in!))
Enhancements:
- Updated source to match avifile-0.7.37, and possibly beyond.
- New configuration directive vflip, with which you can flip the image vertically.
- Support for custom sound device (config file directive sound-device)
- Applied patches from debian/unstable that fix some outstanding bugs and include other improvements. Thanks guys, you rock!
- A/V Syncing improved for longer recordings, thanks to a tip from Alexander Rawass.

OODBC for unix 1.05
Object adapter for ODBC more>> OODBC is object interface built above ODBC API for C++ language. The primary goal of OODBC is to provide a flexible and convenient interface to relational databases for C++ language. Anyone who has to use ODBC or similar SQL interfaces will understand what I am speaking about. So binding of variables is performed exactly in place where they are used in the query. Programmer should not worry about specifying types and sizes of query parameters, binding buffers to retrieve results, allocation and deallocation of resources. As a result programming of interaction with database becomes significantly less error prone. What is more important, this interface allows programmer to abstract from relational database table and deal only with application objects. OODBC also provides flexible mapping of application classes on relational database tables, making application code less dependent of the database structure.<<less

Jlint for Unix 1.23
Jlint will check your Java code and find bugs, inconsistencies and synchronization problems by doing data flow analysis and building lock graph more>> Jlint will check your Java code and find bugs, inconsistencies and synchronization problems by doing data flow analysis and building lock graph.
Jlint consists of two separate programs performing syntax and semantic verification. As far as Java mostly inherits C/C++ syntax and so inherits most of the problems caused by C syntax, the idea was to create common syntax verifier for all C-family languages: C, C++, Objective C and Java. This program was named AntiC, because it fixes problems with C grammar, which can cause dangerous programmers bugs, undetected by compiler. By using hand-written scanner and simple top-down parser, AntiC is able to detect such bugs as suspicious use of operators priorities, absence of break in switch code, wrong assumption about constructions bodies...
Semantic verifier Jlint extracts information from Java class files. As far as Java class file has very well specified and simple format, it greatly simplifies Jlint in comparison with source level verifiers, because development of Java grammar parser is not a simple task (even through Java grammar is simpler and less ambiguous than C++ grammar). Also dealing only with class files, protect Jlint from further Java extensions (format of virtual byte instructions is more conservative). By using debugging information Jlint can associate reported messages with Java sources.
Jlint performs local and global data flow analyses, calculating possible values of local variables and catching redundant and suspicious calculations. By performing global method invocation analysis, Jlint is able to detect invocation of method with possible "null" value of formal parameter and using of this parameter in method without check for "null". Jlint also builds lock dependency graph for classes dependencies and uses this graph to detect situations, which can cause deadlock during multithreaded program execution.<<less
