Wyrm Tools 0.13.0

Wyrm Tools 0.13.0

Wyrm Tools is a suite of tools for any RPG system. more>>
Wyrm Tools is a suite of tools to make your gaming more productive regardless of which rules system you use. More importantly, Wyrm Tools is an RPG tool platform.

While this project anticipates to offer the standard RPG tool fare (such as a character generator and editor), it gives users the flexibility to add their own tools, even to the point of defining their own game systems.

The foundation of Wyrm Tools is the Eclipse Rich Client Platform. Wyrm Tools is to be to RPGs what Eclipse is to, well, everything else.

The overall project has progressed to a pre-alpha release. The core platform functionality (i.e. the game system agnostic bits) are mature. Currently, the d20 3.5 game system is being implemented along with a d20 character editor.

Umbra project is a simple graphical role-playing game.

Umbra is a simple computer role-playing game, written in Python. The world is randomly-generated for new play every time, but there is an eventual goal and storyline.

It was heavily influenced by rogue-like games, Alternate Reality, console RPGs, and the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith.

Umbra is set after a Lovecraftian apocalypse - the ancient god Mogth has risen from ages of deathlike slumber, conquered the world, thrown down civilization, and now man huddles in primitive communities, scattered and dying out. You play a band of heroes who will attempt to free humanity!

citygen 0.1.3

citygen 0.1.3

citygen project is a medieval city/kingdom demographics generator. more>>
citygen project is a medieval city/kingdom demographics generator.
citygen is a program which creates Medieval city and kingdom demographics. The demographics are completely configurable with options to force certain professions and to limit specific buildings. Its very handy for AD&D and other RPGs.
Shortly after releasing that program, citygen, I was asked if I would make a graphical version. I wanted to learn GTK programming under linux so I started out with a simple program to get the basics, GODR: The GTK Ochre Dice Roller. After finishing that, I wrote the GTK frontend of citygen, now known as GROCK: GTK Reorganized Ochre City and Kingdom generator.
Main features:
- GTK City/Kingdom Generator
- Console based City/Kingdom Generator
- GTK Dice Roller
Enhancements:
- city.c had a bug that would cause it to segfault

GalaxyMage 0.3.0

GalaxyMage 0.3.0

GalaxyMage is a free, open-source tactical/strategic RPG for Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. more>>
GalaxyMage is a free, open-source tactical/strategic RPG for Windows, Linux, and Macintosh.

The tipical RPG game system is a type of role-playing game where turn-based battles are fought on a 3D map. Examples of commercial tactical RPGs include Final Fantasy Tactics, Vandal Hearts, and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

Our goal is to make GalaxyMage a game that is relatively simple to pick up and play -- you can dive right in without getting bogged down in the details of the battle mechanics -- but to also allow for a lot of character development and customization.

We also intend to create a unique, advanced AI system that allows enemy units to work together as a team and employ a wide variety of strategies. And eventually, we plan on adding networked multiplayer support.

GearHead: Arena 1.100

GearHead is a mecha roguelike roleplaying game. more>>
GearHead is a mecha roguelike roleplaying game.
Set a century and a half after nuclear war, you can explore a world where various factions compete to determine the future of the human race.
Major features include random plot generation, a detailed character system, and over two hundred customizable mecha designs.
There are two things which really separate GearHead from most
other ASCII-based RPGs. First, movement is somewhat more complex.
Second, you get to pilot giant robots.
Movement in GearHead is a bit more complex than it is in most other roguelikes, but once you get used to it I hope youll enjoy it. Your character has direction, speed, and altitude. These three values are shown in the navigational display, on the left hand side of the character info window.
The display should look something like this:

Quiet Console Town 0.7

Quiet Console Town 0.7

Quiet Console Town is a console RPG city simulator. more>>
Quiet Console Town project is a console RPG city simulator.

Console RPGs have you visiting towns all the time, but Quiet Console Town puts you in the place of the mayor of a budding new city. Build shops, attract adventurers, hope villains overlook you: all the aspects of a console RPG town are yours.

Welcome to your everyday ordinary quiet console town. By the looks of your deceased friend there, youll probably want to stay a night at the Inn. Yes, those puncture wounds and missing organs certainly seem fatal, but all he needs is a good nights sleep and then (somehow) hell be good as new. In the meantime, might I direct you to our armor shop?

A bit of plate inbetween you and the monster might help you stay healthy! I see your thief seems anxious - theres some shady characters near the magic shop she might want to meet up with. Finally, once youre all done, perhaps you could look into the matter of our haunted mine...?

Quiet Console Town is a turn-based console RPG city simulator. You, as mayor, build the kind of RPG town youve always wanted heroes to visit. Buildings range from the simple Inn to the intricate dungeons beneath your mighty Citadel.

People can be as good as the most pious do-gooder, or evil as the most black-hearted villain. Make your city a bulwark against the forces of darkness, or a haven to shady characters round the world!

Currently we have a working mapengine (which will get a major overhaul in the next release), a working dialogue system and limited interaction with items on the map.

Eventually we will add extensive item functionality (picking up, buying, selling, using etc..) and then we will add some kind of fighting system.

FIFE 2007.1

FIFE 2007.1

FIFE is a 2D RPG engine. more>>
FIFE is a 2D RPG engine.

For the ones that have never heard about FIFE: this project is an open source engine that aims to be a platform for the creation of 2D RPGs. We do also provide support for the assets of the original Fallout games. So FIFE will be a good choice for the creation of Fallout-like & even non-Fallout-like games under all major platforms (Linux, Windows, Mac) with the emphasis on easy modding.

The development team emanated from the ianout project and is now working to bring you the best open source RPG engine with Fallout support. To do so, were still in need of dedicated developers that want to help us working on FIFE. If you are interested in contributing to the project we recommend to take a look at our new FIFE developer introduction. It will help you to get you a basic survey of the ideas and concepts of the FIFE project.

TileLib 0.4

TileLib 0.4

TileLib is meant to be an easy to use graphics library geared towards people wanting to make tile based games. more>>
TileLib is meant to be an easy to use graphics library geared towards people wanting to make tile based games. Such as RPGs, side scrollers, etc. It is meant for people developing with the Allegro graphics lib. What I eventually envision is to make TileLib be a very versatile core library for making tile based games.
Im going to pack as much useful stuff in here that should belong in the basic tile based games library. This means, Im not going to add support for controlling players, just support for loading worlds/scrolling them/interacting with them/etc. Maybe later Ill work on something like that. For now, the feature set is limited but still useful. See the next few sections for more information.
Main features:
- Smooth scrolling
- Support for 4 map layers (base, fringe, object, and roof)
- Ability to place tiles at offsets other than (0,0), i.e. can center tiles.
- Support for disappearing roof tiles ala Ultima style games/old RPGs
- Unlimited map size, limited only by amount of RAM on target system
- Built in functions to scroll the world
- Functions to retrieve information on tiles in the world
- Functions to modify information on the tiles in the world
- Easy to use
- Ability to limit the map window, as in create a border of any size to place it in. Useful for having other windows, like a status window.
- Support for any video mode via Allegro
Enhancements:
- Added smooth scrolling support
- Fixed minor bug in tilelib.h that was lacking some #ifndef tags
- Added 4th example program, TLtest4, to demonstrate smooth scrolling
- New documentation page layout
