Cygwin Easy 2007.03.21

Cygwin Easy 2007.03.21

Cygwin Easy project is an autorun disk that let you work easily and quickly with Cygwin environment in a Windows computer. more>>
Cygwin Easy project is an autorun disk that let you work easily and quickly with Cygwin environment in a Windows computer without install anything on your hard disk.

When you insert the disk in the drive the autorun start automatically, if nothing happens its necessary to run "autorun.bat" manually.

Your Cygwin work directory (home) is the "cygwin" directory placed on your desktop.

If in your computer there is already an installation of Cygwin when "autorun.bat" is properly terminated (exiting from the environment with the exit command) or when you click on the link to remove Cygwin Easy it will return back to the previous environment.

In the desktop there is also some links to start new shells or to start X Windows server.

If you want to start X Windows server when the disk is inserted you can run the command "D:autorun X" from Start -> Run (where "D" is the letter that indicate your optical drive).

At the end of the work with Cygwin Easy on your guest system there will be only your workdir.

If you want to change your home path is possible to create a configuration file called "cygwineasy.ini" in your desktop with inside:

[Cygwin Easy]
HOME=C:homeuser

where "C:homeuser" is the path of your home

You can also specify this as second argument for "autorun.bat", for example:
"D:autorun shell C:homeuser" (from Start -> Run).

If you want a more powerful console (with for example the tab) you can run "console.exe" that is in the directory called "console". Console is an open source application that is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and next version (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/console).

A complete list of Cygwin Easy packages is inside the file "packages.txt". Licenses of packages vary but most are under the GPL. Cygwin Easy scripts are under GPL.

AutoGen 5.9.2

AutoGen 5.9.2

AutoGen is a templatized program/text generation system. more>>
AutoGen is a tool designed to simplify the creation and maintenance of programs that contain large amounts of repetitious text. AutoGen project is especially valuable in programs that have several blocks of text that must be kept synchronized.

AutoGen can now accept XML files as definition input, in addition to CGI data (for producing dynamic HTML) and traditional AutoGen definitions.

A common example where this would be useful is in creating and maintaining the code required for processing program options. Processing options requires multiple constructs to be maintained in parallel in different places in your program.

Options maintenance needs to be done countless times. So, AutoGen comes with an add-on package named AutoOpts that simplifies the maintenance and documentation of program options.

AutoGen is known to work on GNU/Linux, BSD, Apples OS/X, SVR4-5, HPUX, SCO OpenServer and Solaris. It is expected that it will work on any reasonably modern UNIX system with an ANSI-compliant C compiler. It also runs under WinNT, provided you have CygWin ** and Guile loaded.

CeGCC 0.50

CeGCC 0.50

CeGCC is a project that offers cross-development tools for Windows CE (PocketPC). more>>
CeGCC is a project that offers cross-development tools for Windows CE (PocketPC). CeGCC is a bundle of other free software projects, specifically combined and configured for this goal. You can create applications for PocketPC from your Linux or Cygwin PC using these tools.
Were aiming at providing a consistent and working set of development tools that generate code for Windows CE devices such as PDAs and smart phones. Our intended development platforms are the cygwin environment and GNU/Linux systems.
Enhancements:
- First stable release of the CeGCC tool family : - arm-wince-mingw32ce-* tools (recommended) - arm-wince-cegcc-* tools (includes unix-like layer) Note that all the RPM files are created on a Mandriva Linux system. They probably work on other distributions, this note is for informational purposes (and because the new release script apparently failed to name the files properly).

ccrypt 1.7

ccrypt 1.7

ccrypt is a commandline utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams. more>>
ccrypt is a commandline utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams. It was designed as a replacement for the standard unix crypt utility, which is notorious for using a very weak encryption algorithm. ccrypt is based on the Rijndael cipher, which is the U.S. governments chosen candidate for the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, see http://www.nist.gov/aes). This cipher is believed to provide very strong security.
Unlike unix crypt, the algorithm provided by ccrypt is not symmetric, i.e., one must specify whether to encrypt or decrypt. The most common way to invoke ccrypt is via the commands ccencrypt and ccdecrypt. There is also a ccat command for decrypting a file directly to the terminal, thus reducing the likelihood of leaving temporary plaintext files around. In addition, there is a compatibility mode for decrypting legacy unix crypt files. An emacs mode is also supplied for editing encrypted text files.
Encryption and decryption depends on a keyword (or key phrase) supplied by the user. By default, the user is prompted to enter a keyword from the terminal. Keywords can consist of any number of characters, and all characters are significant (although ccrypt internally hashes the key to 256 bits). Longer keywords provide better security than short ones, since they are less likely to be discovered by exhaustive search, brute force or dictionary methods.
Enhancements:
- (2004/02/04) PS1 - large file support now works under cygwin due to a newer cygwin version.
- (2004/02/04) PS1 - configure: added --disable-libcrypt option.
- (2003/12/12) PS1 - minor changes to wording of warning messages.
- (2003/10/29) PS1 - as requested by many users, made --timid the default behavior and added new --brave option to turn it off.

GetDP is a general finite element solver using mixed elements to discretize de Rham-type complexes in one, two, and three dimensions.
GetDP has features like closeness between the input data defining discrete problems (written by the user in ASCII data files) and the symbolic mathematical expressions of these problems.
Enhancements:
- This release simplifies the parser by using standard loops instead of the multi-index constructs, and removes the Cygwin dependency for the Windows version.

Slirp 1.0.17

Slirp 1.0.17

Slirp provides a SLIP/PPP emulator over shell/telnet/ssh/etc. more>>
Slirp provides a SLIP/PPP emulator over shell/telnet/ssh/etc.
Slirp is a (C)SLIP/PPP emulator based on the original BSD sources. It allows the user to pull up a full internet connection over a shell connection, and features sharing multiple modems for additional bandwidth.
Slirp emulates a PPP or SLIP connection over a normal terminal. This is an actual PPP or SLIP link, firewalled for peoples protection.
It makes a quick way to connect your Palm Pilot over the Internet via your Unix or Linux box!!! You dont need to mess around with your /etc/inetd.conf or your /etc/ppp/options on your system.
Slirp works on most Unix platforms, including:
Linux glibc and libc5 systems
Solaris 2.x
OSF/1
or any Unix that can compile GNU autoconfed programs with GCC.
Palm Pilot users can use this to connect their PalmOS device to the system and onto the Internet, using their home computer as a host. If you need to raise a temporary link, or cant run pppd, Slirp may help.
Enhancements:
- Changes for operation under Cygwin
- Added patch for Cygwin I_PUSH by Michael Wetherell
- dns is now transferred to peer, (If compiled with -DUSE_MS_DNS) (Ripped off from hacked pppd version 2.2.0f)
- Two dns options can be specified on command line, (Only the first is used internally, but both will get transferred to peer)
- Has a hack for connecting to a MS direct cable connect (If compiled with -DMS_DCC) Only works when PPP (-P option) is chosen, but gives effectively a nated direct cable connect. (A chat script option would be nicer)
- Fix to exit code that incorrectly iterated list of ttys attached
- Fixes to terminal restore code, No longer closes stdin on exit
- If stdout, or stderr are redirected, it wont close them (so you can debug using fprintf(stderr...)
- No longer removes 0s, 1s from incoming data stream
- New Option nozeros to not look at strings of 0s, 1s to cause exit/suspend (See docs/CONFIG)
- Can specify alternate tty on command line using "tty ttydevice" (Overrides SLIRP_TTY environment variable) (see docs/CONFIG)
- Debug builds log raw incoming data, and ppp checksum fault packets
- Minor documentation updates
- Does not close all file handles, (Pain when trying to debug)
- Can manually turn on early debugging in main()
- Most of Tims security fixes in place, (It is still insecure...) Probably snprintf will make slirp less portable.
