Sound Studio is a Tcl/Tk application written by Paul Sharpe as his third year individual project, for which he received the Microsoft Prize for Software Engineering. It was subsequently improved by Robin Whitehead.

It enables recording, playback and simple cut & paste editing of sound files of diverse formats on a PC equipped with a soundcard and the OSS (formally VoxWare) sound drivers.

It uses Lance Norskogs Sox for format conversion; the version weve used is bundled together with this software in its entirety to prevent incompatibility problems, although you should try it with your own sox if you have a more recent one.

Sound Studio is now "finished", but no doubt there are loads of bugs still to be found and features to be added.

Xubuntu community projects aim is to provide a nice Ubuntu desktop experience (even on older hardware) by using Xfce4 as the desktop environment and GTK+ 2 applications wherever possible.

Xfce4 has been supported in Ubuntus universe by the MOTUXfce team since Hoary and Breezy. For Dapper we want to go one step further and make Xubuntu a sibling of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu by having install and live CD images generated for it.

As Ubuntu has a delay of six weeks with a new release date of the first of June, Xubuntu should be released at the same time and should use the latest stable Xfce 4.X code (hopefully 4.4 will be released by then).

This release includes a recent code snapshot of the upcoming Xfce 4.4desktop environment.

In addition a nice selection of applications is provided to complete the user experience

The install CD also contains Openoffice.org2 but it not installed by default.

Open Invaders is a fully-GPL interpretation of Taitos Space Invaders. While it is not a perfect clone, the aim of the project is to provide a feature rich clone of the famous arcade game. It features (so far) 14 levels with unique backdrops and a full soundtrack.

In Angry, Drunken Dwarves, you are an angry, drunken dwarf. Why are you so angry? Who knows. But youve decided to take your aggression out on other dwarves, by dropping gems on their heads.

Lots of gems. Angry, Drunken Dwarves is a member of the classic "falling blocks" puzzle game family, similar to the Capcom game Puzzle Fighter.

The goal of the game is to build large gems by matching up colors, then break them, raining more gems down onto your opponent. The first person whose field fills up, loses.

Angry, Drunken Dwarves runs on all major operating systems. It has seven playable characters, six levels of AI, secret game modes and characters, and an original soundtrack.

Yahoo::Search::Request is a container object for a Yahoo! Search request. (This package is included in, and automatically loaded by, the Yahoo::Search package.)

Package Use

You never need to use this package directly -- it is loaded automatically by Yahoo::Search.

Object Creation

In practice, this class is generally not dealt with explicitly, but rather implicitly via functions in Yahoo::Search such as Query and Links, which build and use a Request object under the hood.

You also have access to the Request object via Request() method of resulting Response and Result objects.

To be clear, Request objects are created by the Request() method of a Search Engine object (Yahoo::Search).

libtour is a generic tournament processing library. The rules, participants, schedule, and results of a sporting tournament can be defined in the Scheme programming language and given to the library as input.
A CLI application is provided as a reference client implementation. See http://freshmeat.net/projects/qtour/ for a Qt-based client.
ach sporting tournament consists of a number of stages, examples of stages are Preliminary Stage, Quater Finals, Finals.
Each stage includes one or more group; for instance a Preliminary Stage may contain groups A, B, C, and D; Finals may contain a single group of two teams that compete for the winners title.
Each group has two or more teams. Before the tournament starts, only groups of the first stage know their teams. By the completion of the first stage it is usually possible to programmatically determine teams that advance to the following stage, based on their results, and so on for all stages.
Given rules of the tournament (points allocated to a team in a game, as well as sorting criteria for table of standings), initial teams and game schedule it is possible to interpret its results inside a computer program.
