Spring-RCPs mission is to provide an elegant way to build highly-configurable, GUI-standards-following rich-client applications faster by leveraging the Spring Framework, and a rich library of UI factories and support classes.
The Spring Rich Client Project (RCP) is a sub-project of The Spring Framework. Initial focus is on providing support for Swing applications but a goal of Spring-RCP is to be view agnostic as much as possible.
Spring Rich Client Projects goal is to provide a viable option for developers that need a platform and a best-practices guide for constructing Swing applications quickly.
Specifically, spring-richclient seeks to:
Provide a way to build structured, highly-configurable, GUI-standards-following Swing applications faster by leveraging the Spring Framework.
Foster integration with existing rich-client-related projects where it make sense. For example, jgoodies-forms and TableLayout are two good layout managers. We dont need to develop another one.
Adhere to the principles set forth by the Spring Framework--programming to interfaces; the importance of sound OO design, documentation, and testing.
Main features:
- A command framework that provides centralized configuration of Swing actions and appropriate handler registration based on the current active view. Command configuration, as well as action bar contribution policies (to menus or toolbars), can be defined centrally and externalized in Spring bean defintiions.
- A forms data binding and validation framework, for connecting edits made in your UI controls with your domain model automatically--with as you type feedback.
- Support for multiple window management, page configuration, and view management. The concepts here are inspired by Eclipses perspective/view constructs. Views can be defined in the Spring container, associated with one or more pages, and a default page can be configured to be loaded at startup.
- Common support classes addressing various rich client requirements including: well formed dialogs, wizards, input validation (typing hints and validation results reporting), button bars,internationalization, image/icon caching, progress monitoring, UI threading (classes cleanly promoting responsive UIs), treetable/property sheet, table sorting/high-volume table updates, GUI standards builders/helpers, help/about, etc.
Spring-rich adds value for people needing to develop Swing applications and do so in a way that promotes consistent, well-designed, configurable Swing applications. The spring-rich developers strongly feel the old days of Swing apps not looking native and not being performant or web-accessible are gone with JDK1.4.2 and 1.5 and webstart.
It is our belief the only problem with Swing is that there are a limited number of higher-level abstractions available that assist in making the toolkit simpler and easier to use, and a limited number of design best practices. The goal of spring-richclient is to provide that.

Sloth Online RPG is aJava Online RPG with Real-Time Action and rich 2D graphics.

Sloth Online RPG is a work in progress that will provide a fully graphical online role playing game engine. SlothORPG is coded in Java and is currently in a near playable state featuring several classes with over a thousand lines of code.

My main intentions with this project are to provide a free, fully functional, ever expanding Role Playing Engine (both client and server side) for the end user who would be playing the game. Developers would also be able to use the project as a resource on certain aspects of Java Game Programming.

Server side the project implements the NIO Networking library to create a smoother, stronger tcp/ip core. I found UDP and TCP w/ the old IO library to be unreliable and sluggish respectively. The way in which the server is structured has proven to be strong thus far.

The client side of the code features the Graphics2D Java library to provide near perfect animation without requiring a rendering device such as OpenGL or DirectX.

To summarize my entire intent for this project I basically wanted to provide an Online RPG that is functional on almost any OS that has Java installed and can run just as smooth on low end machines while still being able to feature rich 2-D graphics. The source code is clean and neat as well as commented and organized.

It is easy to read and understand for someone who has some knowledge of Java. As I write this, the project is coming along nicely and some pre-alpha local network testing has proven this. I plan to continue with this project and in the future include database integration and more of a developer-side interface.

A quick rundown of what this project includes so far: Character Creation, Smooth character animation, and fully supported tcp/ip gameplay. Chatting is also implemented.

Eclipse project is an open source community whose projects are focused on providing an extensible development platform and application frameworks for building software.

The Korseby Icon Package is a rich set of XPM and PNG icons created for use for window managers without available icons.

The Korseby Icon Package now includes 452 several icons with 4 different backgrounds. Hopefully they can cover mostly all of the existing file associations.

Karora Cooee is a Web application framework for building rich, AJAX based applications without writing any JavaScript. The project is Java based and attempts to follow the Swing API.
Enhancements:
- Rendering of a TabPane no longer crashes in Internet Explorer if the Tab height is less that 8 pixels high.
- A default style name is now applied to a component on creation.

OpenLink AJAX Toolkit in short OAT, offers a broad Javascript-based, browser-independent widget set for building rich user interfaces on all common browsers.
It comes with sample applications for interactive SQL query composition and database design. These applications work against any Microsoft XML for Analysis (XML/A) servers, such as OpenLink Virtuoso and others.
Enhancements:
- This release includes the following new Semantic Data Web technologies: a JavaScript-based Fresnel processor, enabling declarative display templates for RDF Data Sources; an XSLT template for producing HTML from the Fresnel processor; Interactive Query Builder for SPARQL (iSPARQL) with support for INSERTs and DELETEs; an enhanced N3/Turtle parser; and new Navigator UI for the OAT RDF Browser.
- Other fixes and enhancements were made.

Archetypes project is a framework for developing new content types in Plone.
The power of Archetypes is first in automatically generating forms, second in providing a library of stock field types, form widgets, and field validators, third in easily integrating custom fields, widgets, and validators, and fourth in automating transformations of rich content.
