libvte-java 0.12.3

libvte-java 0.12.3

Java-GNOME is a set of Java bindings for GNOME and GTK libraries, so GNOME applications can be written in Java. more>>
Java-GNOME is a set of Java bindings for GNOME and GTK libraries, so GNOME applications can be written in Java.

libvte-java is implemented as a JNI layer that delegates the Java calls out to the underlying C library.

Installation:

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.

4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

BMPx 0.40.1

BMPx 0.40.1

BMPx is a media player based on the XMMS music playing application. more>>
BMPx is a media player based on the XMMS multimedia player software. Its primary goals are usability and usage of current desktop standards.
BMPx is the codename for the next-generation BMP. It will not differ very much from the current BMP, except that the code has been rewritten 95% from scratch, including the skinning engine and the playback backend (a few utility functions and miscellaneous stuff has been taken from the old codebase).
Main features:
Support for multiple playlists
- BMPx can keep several playlists at the same time loaded, and you can switch between them at any time and play songs from them.
GUI-Less player
- BMPx is actually a gui-less player. It can function completely without GUI and is as such a fully functional audio player with the same capabilities that the UI provides (in other words, the UI doesnt provide any capabilities that the core player doesnt have). However, it currently uses a Winamp2.x-skin compatible skinning engine (rewritten from scratch, not based on the XMMS engine), which is not a seperate process communicating via DBus, but compiled in. Our reasoning for this is that we dont want to be faceless, a main GUI should always be readily available. Just so you get an idea what is meant by GUI-less: It would take maybe 15 minutes with VI to create a fully building and working BMPx source tree without the GUI, which you could then control through DBus.
Daemonized running and DBus control
- BMPx can, as already stated above, run as a daemon process, in which the UI is not initialized at all. Its not simply hidden, its just not initialized, so there are also no resources being wasted. The core player code is 100% UI-independent. When running in daemon mode, no "helper" UI subsystems need to be initialized for the player to run.
- The player can be controlled through DBus in a very fine grained manner which goes far beyond what was possible in BMP (or XMMS for that matter). Basically, it allows to run BMPx as a playback backend and attach a different GUI trough DBus to it. This is comparable to MPD (http://www.musicpd.org/).
Metadata cache/Media library
- BMPx has a metadata caching system that will cache the metadata for files that have been at least once added to a playlist. Optionally you can pre-load the metadata cache with a path on the filesystem (recursively). By doing this, you basically turn the cache into a media library, and BMPx does provide facilities to use the cache as a library.
- Never the less, this system is more of a metadata cache rather than a media library, and hence control over it isnt as fine-grained as in e.g. Rhythmbox or iTunes, where you can dedicatedly add or remove paths to/from the library. But despite of this fact it is very usable and the current UI that allows you to access the cache as a library is very effective.

Audio Tag Tool 0.12.3

Audio Tag Tool 0.12.3

Audio Tag Tool is a program to manage the tags in MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files. more>>
Audio Tag Tool is a program to manage the information fields in MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files, commonly called tags. It is available under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).
Please send me any comments or bugs you find (email at the bottom)
Tag Tool can be used to edit tags one by one, but the most useful features are the ability to easily tag or rename hundreds of files at once, in any desired format.
The interface is arranged into two sections, with the list of available files on the left and a set of tabs on the right.
Each tab corresponds to one of the main operations Audio Tag Tool can do:
Tag Editor
- Lets you edit the tags individually.
Tag Multiple Files
- Here you can set the tags of multiple files at once. The tag fields can be set to a fixed value, filled in automatically from the files name, or left alone.
Clear Tags
- Allows you to remove the tags from multiple files at once. For MP3 files it lets you choose to remove only ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags.
Move/Rename Multiple Files
- Here you can rename multiple files at once and/or organize them into directories. File names can be based on the contents of the tag.
Create Playlists
- Generates playlists. Playlists can be sorted by file name or by any tag field.

Sonance 0.2.1

Sonance 0.2.1

GNOME audio player based on GStreamer and Mono. more>>
GNOME audio player based on GStreamer and Mono.

Sonance is a brand spankin new audio player based on the GStreamer media library and is developed on the Open Source Mono .NET Platform, written in C#. It uses the gst-sharp GStreamer bindings, which are currently only available via CVS.

Version 0.2 now supports shuffle/repeat modes, playlist searching, recursive directory additions, and saves the window/widget states in GConf.

Sonance may currently act as a simple drop-in XMMS/Beep replacement. It sports a basic playlist, with add/remove/clear/reorder support, and metadata support through GStreamer. Now that Sonance has a stable base, the goal is to create an entire music organization and playback platform, much like Rhythmbox and iTunes.

However, Sonance will have a much smaller footprint, and will be more versatile: you dont have to utilize a music library. Sometimes its just nice to have a standalone player that isnt dependent on any kind of database.

Sonance is multi-threaded. Playback is always smooth and fast, based on a solid, featureful GStreamer core, and adding lots of files to the playlist is no problem, because additions are done in a separate thread. Sonance is easy to use, simple, yet powerful, and its future is very bright.

ID3iconv 0.2.1

ID3iconv 0.2.1

ID3iconv is a little Java command line tool to convert ID3 tags in mp3 files from whatever machine encoding you have to Unicode. more>>
ID3iconv is a little Java command line tool to convert ID3 tags in mp3 files from whatever machine encoding you have to Unicode. It convert both ID3v1 tags and ID3v2 tags to Unicode-encoded ID3v2 (v2.3 or v2.4). This is sometimes useful because:
ID3v1 or v2 dont really supports multi-byte encodings such as GBK or Big5. Most existing files falsely pretend they are ISO-8859-1 encoded. This means the softwares handle them in all kinds of weird ways.
Even if the user can force the encoding in some players, it is then impossible to display tags of several international languages at the same time if files are so encoded.
I wrote this to convert all my mp3 files with Chinese (both simplified and traditional Chinese) tags to Unicode and play them using Rhythmbox under Linux. This is after much struggle with XMMS and other players that either cannot handle the large charsets GBK/GB18030 or cannot handle Chinese at all.
CAUTION: The tool updates mp3 files in place. You have to do a backup if you dont want to lose your precious music.
Enhancements:
- Bug fix: Under windows, cannot rename the output temp file to the original file name
- Bug fix: Conversion from v2 tag is using different encoding (big-endian UTF-16) from conversion from v1. Now both using little-endian UTF-16 for better compatibility.
- Added option to force using id3v1 tag even if v2 tag exists
- Added option to remove v1 tag after convertion
