cec 6
cec (Coraid Ethernet Console) client, can connect to any CEC server over raw ethernet. more>>
Cec is also the name of the client used to connect to cec servers. Cec will run on linux, and bsd flavors supporting bpf. By default the makefile is linux ready -- just run make. To compile a bsd binary, run
make PLATFORM=bsd
or edit the makefile accordingly.
Documentation
See the cec.8 manpage. To read the manpage before installation, some
versions of man accept a "-l" option:
man -l cec.8
... while on other systems groff may be used.
groff -Tascii -mandoc cec.8 | less
Enhancements:
- Solaris support was added.
- An "install" target was added to the makefile.
- Minor bugs were fixed.
Photorec 6.6
PhotoRec is a small tool to recover pictures from digital camera memory. more>>
It can recover data from CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SecureDigital, SmartMedia, Microdrive, MMC, USB Memory Drives...
PhotoRec is safe to use, it will never attempt to write to the drive or memory support you are about to recover from. Recovered files are instead written in the directory from where you are running the PhotoRec program.
Photorec ignores the filesystem, this way it works even if the filesystem is severely damaged.
It can recover lost files at least from:
- FAT,
- NTFS,
- EXT2/EXT3 filesystem
Digital Camera
PhotoRec has been successfully tested with:
- Canon EOS300D, 10D
- HP PhotoSmart 620, 850, 935

RockBot 6
Rockbot is a C irc robot initally based on comstuds Combot. more>>
DCC model of rockbox is different like eggdrop. In RockBot YOU NEVER initiate a DCC chat with the bot. In all cases the bot will send you a DCC chat request when it needs one due to the type of data its returning. If you have trouble with DCCs it may be the bot cannotdetermine its true IP address on the machine. Try playing with "#define PPP" in config.h.
Enhancements:
- The data files and memory model were totally re-written. RockBot now uses a multiple-channel scheme for keeping track of users, and also allows one user to store multiple hostmasks under one "handle". There is also a "global" config that controls the default settings for channels and high level bot users. In order to diferentiate
- between global commands and local channel commands the following syntax has been implimented:
- (Note: This example assumes CMDCHAR is !)
- Sent to a channel -> !userlist = userlist of the channel typed in
- Sent to a channel -> !#mychannel userlist = userlist of #mychannel
- Sent to a channel -> !!userlist = global userlist
- ---
- Privmsg to bot -> #mychan userlist = userlist of #mychan
- Privmsg to bot -> !userlist = global userlist
- ---
- When you use JOIN a data file will be created to contain the new channels users, settings, topic etc. The LEAVE command parts the bot but does NOT remove the datafiles, however REMCHAN does.
ethtool 6
ethtool is a Linux net driver diagnostic and tuning tool for the Linux 2.4.x (or later) series of kernels. more>>
Enhancements:
- This release fixes handling of statistics where the label is exactly 32 bytes.
- It adds the ability to change the advertised speed/duplex to a different range of values, rather than all-or-one.
- It adds/updates register dump support for ixgb, sky2, Fabric7 VIOC, e1000, r8169, and SMSC LAN911x/LAN921x.
- It adds the ability to decode raw register dump stored in a file.
- It adds the ability to force hex register dump.
- Additional 10Gbps support is included. 2.5G support is included.
- The internal ethtool.h has been synchronized with upstream kernel 2.6.23-rc1.
Fgr 0.6.6
Fgr is the command find tool used by the Xfce desktop environment since 2000. more>>
Fgr 0.6.6 will enhance the use of your files. It is actually a command find tool which combines the power of "find" with the versatility of "grep". The Xffm-find GUI uses this simple program for searching into the contents of files. The ability to use fgr from either a GUI or the command line provides this application with great versatility.
Fgr first appeared (as glob) in the year 2000 in the xfce3 desktop and is now part of the Xffm distribution. Today fgr can be installed along with Xffm or as a standalone application. This allows for quick and easy installation in any system. The fgr program does not have any dependencies, except for GNU grep 2.x or higher if you want to search into the content of files.
<<lessxRecurseDiff 1.6
xRecurseDiff is a small program that can rapidly traverse entire directory trees. more>>

Installation:
Extract archive: tar xzf xRecurseDiff.version.tgz
Enter in the new directory: cd xRecurseDiff.version
Link the correct language file: ln -s lang/xrdstrings-lang.h xrdstrings.h
Compile: make
Copy in the path: cp xrecursediff /usr/local/bin/
Blended 1.6
Blended provides a simple theme designed to blend in with the menu bar to create a smooth appearance. more>>
The theme was designed with the Clearlooks GTK2 theme in mind, but works well with other themes that have plain menu bars.
Inculdes 4 theme variations:
- Blended ( Top corners rounded)
- BlendedDoubleRound (Top and bottom corners rounded)
- BlendedSmall (Smaller window butons)
- BlendedSmallDoubleRound
NOTE:
If you want all 4 variations make sure they are all coppied to your themes folder as at least for me installing through theme preferences only installs the last theme.
Enhancements:
- Looks much better with darker GTK themes
- Windows have a slightly beveled appearance
- Title padding reduced on regular button size themes
- focused text no longer etched
- other minor changes
FSGuide 0.6
FSGuide is a web-based Norton Commander clone for advanced file management. more>>
Note: Due to the limitations of running scripts in server environment, you can reach only those files of the filesystem that are available to the web user (www-data or wwwrun used by Apache). In general, its much more than just the files and directories under document root!
Main features:
- user authentication (you can disable user authentication to use FSGuide without logging in)
- details of user access are configurable in a simple .ini file
- deeply customizable through its configuration file and the user.ini file, loads of peruser settings
- access control finetuning through access control lists in user ini file
- you can implement your own authentication module (eg. rdbms-based)
- two-panel display (supports sorting)
- directory bookmarks
- selecting files using checkboxes You can even "cross-copy" files between the two panels: after selecting files in both panels, just click the copy or move button - this way all the selected files are copied/moved to the other panel. If you click on the delete button, all the selected files in both panels are deleted.
- advanced file selection dialog (select files by regular expression, extension, extension group, permission, filesize, time)
- copying, moving, deleting files and directories even recursively
- renaming files or directories (only the first selected file)
- creating directories
- the file operations use no external commands (it helps multiplatform use)
- a one-line navigator on both panels. Clicking on parts of the navigator results in opening that subdirectory in the panel.
- downloading files (and optional bandwidth control mechanism)
- opening and displaying files:
- built-in detection for different filetypes (DOC, PDF, text, PHP, binary, etc.) by extension or contents
- displaying files depending on the result of the detection:
- files having .php and .inc extension are displayed using source highlight
- images files recognized by PHP are displayed as images: this helps a lot while organizing image files on a remote server (eg. if you use Windows).
- If there are no other special characters than #09 (tab), #10 (CR), #12 (page break), #13 (LF), the file is displayed as a simple textfile. The file is divided into 10000 characters long pages (you can use the "more" or "less" links to switch between pages)
- If there are other special characters in the file, or characters undefined in the ISO-8859-2 codepage, then the file is treated as a binary file. In this case the control characters, and ISO-8859-2s undefined characters (0x7f- 0x9f) are replaced with a dot (to avoid browsers displaying contents erroneously and to conform the HTML standard).
- file uploader:
- configurable number of files to upload at once
- you can configure any application to run after upload
- you can check to drop the original file when the application finishes
- file editor:
- plain text editor
- binary editor
- works under both Windows and Linux
- does not depend on third-party libraries or extensions and needs no RDBMS
- produces well-formatted, valid HTML 4.01 Transitional pages
- uses PHPs error messages to report errors of file operations (since the default messages contain all the important information about the errors). This will change in the future.
Enhancements:
- array_multisort bug fixed,
- added Spanish translation, thanks to Andres Barreto!
- advanced file compare dialog
- JavaScript confirmation before deleting files
- donations accepted through Kagi
Trend Rev #58 03/10/2006
Trend is a general-purpose, efficient trend graph for live data. more>>
Main features:
- OpenGL graphics
- Automatic or fixed graph scaling
- Two graph scrolling and shading modes
- Configurable colours/grid

- Interactivity
Doodle 0.6.6
Doodle is a file search tool based on meta-data. more>>
Doodle project uses libextractor to support obtaining meta-data from various file-formats. The database used by doodle is a suffix tree, resulting in fast lookups. Doodle supports approximate searches.
Main features:
- A web interface
- Ordering of search results
- Spidering (indexing the Internet or websites)
Using
First the doodle database needs to be created. The simplest way to create the database is to run doodle with the -b option on the directories that are to be indexed. For example:
$ doodle -b
This will create the doodle database under ~/.doodle.
After creating the doodle database, you can search it. For example:
$ doodle keyword
Full text search
You can achieve a (limited) form of full-text search with doodle. For that, the dictionary-based plaintext extractors from libextractor are used. In order to use them, you need to pass the option -b LANG to doodle.
LANG is a two letter language code that selects the dictionary. Available languages at the moment are en, es, fr, it and no. Words and sentences that are available in the respective dictionaries for these languages will then be added to the index.
While libextractor attempts to avoid full-text extraction for certain kown binary formats, it may still find words in non-text files. Running with this option will dramatically increase the size of the index and the time it takes to build the index.
Note that if you change the options used to build a database will not (!) result in doodle re-indexing files that were processed with other options previously. The only way to force doodle to re-index files with different options is to either touch the files (change modification timestamp) or to delete the old database and start from scratch.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a bug on big-endian systems and an error in handling empty metadata entries.
- It also adds support for pkg-config.
- The database format changed; doodle indices will need to be regenerated.
