queue_repair is a toolkit for dealing with the qmail queue directory structure; it can create a new queue, move and properly rename a queue, dynamically change the conf-split value, convert big-todo queues to non-big-todo and vice versa, and repair a corrupted queue.

PAR2GUI project provides a GUI to the command line utility PAR2. You can Verify , Repair and Create PAR2 files. Its very simple and provides instant user feedback via the intergrated konsole widget.

I have included instructions on the third tab on how to double click a PAR2 file and repair your files without the use of Kommander.

Mp3Fixer is an amaroK Script for repairing various defects in MP3 files, for instance files which display a bogus track length in your audio player.

For example, if you have a track that you know is really two minutes long, but amaroK shows its two hours something, then this script is for you.

Mp3Fixer calculates the real track length and adds the missing XING header to the file, and it also repairs broken MPEG headers.

Recovery Is Possible (RIP) is a Slackware-based CD or floppy boot/rescue/backup/maintenance system. It has support for a lot of filesystem types (Reiserfs, Reiser4, ext2/3, iso9660, UDF, XFS, JFS, UFS, HPFS, HFS, MINIX, MS DOS, NTFS, and VFAT) and contains a bunch of utilities for system recovery.
R.I.P. also has IDE/SCSI/SATA, PCMCIA, RAID, LVM2, and Ethernet/DSL/cable/PPP/PPPOE network support.
The bootable CD image `RIP-12.4.iso.bin can be written to a CD/DVD disk, using cdrecord/dvdrecord etc.
The 2.6.11.6 kernel has IDE/SATA and SCSI support. The kernel also has PCMCIA, LVM2, RAID, and Ethernet/cable/dsl/ppp/ pppoe/wireless networking support.

It also includes the DVD udf filesystem packet writing tools (cdrwtool, mkudffs, pktsetup).
The reiserfsck and fsck.reiser4 programs are used to check and repair a Linux reiserfs and reiser4 filesystem.
The xfs_repair program is used to repair a Linux xfs filesystem.
The jfs_fsck program is used to check and repair a Linux jfs filesystem.
The e2fsck program is used to check and repair a Linux ext2 or ext3 filesystem.
The ntfsresize program non-destructively resizes Windows XP/2000/NT4 or Windows Server 2003 NTFS filesystems. Read /usr/doc/RIP/ntfsresize.txt on the rescue system.
The parted program is used for creating, destroying, resizing (fat16/32, ext2/3, reiserfs v3.6), checking and copying partitions, and the file systems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganising disk usage, copying data between hard disks and disk imaging.
The partition image program partimage saves partitions in the ext2, ext3, reiserfs, jfs, xfs, ufs, ntfs, fat16, and fat32 formats to an image file. Only used blocks are copied to save space and increase the speed. The image file can be compressed, in gzip or bzip2 formats.

File::Revision is a Perl module to return a name of non-existing backup file with a revision id.

The File::Revision program modules provides the name of a non-existing file with a revision identifier based on the a file name $file. This has many uses backup file uses. There are no restrictions on the number of backup files or the time to live of the backup files.

A typical use would be to create a backup file for If the revised file passes does not pass all validity checks, use the backup file to replace or repair the revised file. This minimizes loses import data when revising files.

Better yet, create a temporary file, using one of the temp file name program modules. Revise the temp file. Once it passes all valitity checks, rename the original file to the backup file and rename the temp file to the original file. This allows full use of the original file until a validated revison is ready to replace it.

The File::Revision program module also supports limiting the backup files and delete the oldest once File::Revision reaches the rotation limit.

Deep-Water Linux is a half minimalist software distribution using the linux kernel released under the terms of the gnu gpl license v2.

Originaly i designed it for myself to make my work a bit easyer - it was a few years ago when there were not so many live distributions that fit my needs - i needed something more than "minimal" but not something that would need more than 2-3 minutes to load requireing hardware, that i couldnt afford.

So i designed a small system for myself that i could use whenever i broke my "harddisk" distro so much, that it was impossible to repair the system from inside of it. I started using the system as a sort of a rescue system and i installed it on my computer as a sort of a neighbour to other systems that i have used.

Then i thought other people might find it interesting, if not as a whole, than atleast a part of it, or maybe they might like to use it for some "rescue job". I was messing arround with xlib and tcl/tk, so i added some programs to ease a users life - like a panel, icons, file-manager. You see, i thought it is stupid to just copy someones work and then re-distribute it in my name - i hate the kind of distros where the "developers" just change the background of some well known distro and then give it a new name.

In my distro you wont find so many tools, it evean might not work good, it evean can make you angry "make you laugh, or cry", but atleast i can say, that many things in this system is my work - i programmed deep-panel/ deep-view/ deep-icons/ made a new hackedbox"a hack of blackbox"/designed the startup and many other things.

There are 2 version-types of the distro - the first copying the whole system in the memmory and the second copying only a part of itself - the first is for people with older hardware with little memmory and the second for boxes with memmory atleast 128MB. I know that there are many systems out there that are better and im not saying that its good to use this distro on an everyday basis, but if you find some inspiration in it, or if you use it as a rescue system, or want to use deep-view to browse/edit some files or to display image galleries and your "real" system is broke, if you find any use of it than im happy enough.
