Remove playlist duplicates detects all duplicate playlist entries and leaves just the first one of each of them. more>>
Remove playlist duplicates is a simple perl script which on track change detects all duplicate playlist entries and leaves just the first one of each of them.

I have files duplicated on my mp3 player and hard drive and when I plugged my player in, my collection contained duplicate entries. this was bit annoying, so Ive made a script to remove songs that were in playlist twice. probably theres easier way to do it...

File::Remove 0.34

File::Remove 0.34

File::Remove is a Perl module to remove files and directories. more>>
File::Remove is a Perl module to remove files and directories.

SYNOPSIS

use File::Remove qw(remove);

# removes (without recursion) several files
remove qw( *.c *.pl );

# removes (with recursion) several directories
remove 1, qw( directory1 directory2 );

# removes (with recursion) several files and directories
remove 1, qw( file1 file2 directory1 *~ );

# trashes (with support for undeleting later) several files
trash qw( *~ );

File::Remove::remove removes files and directories. It acts like /bin/rm, for the most part. Although unlink can be given a list of files, it will not remove directories; this module remedies that. It also accepts wildcards, * and ?, as arguments for filenames.

File::Remove::trash accepts the same arguments as remove, with the addition of an optional, infrequently used "other platforms" hashref.

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet 1.0

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet 1.0

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet is a tool to install/remove packets with debian apt-get. more>>
Apt-get Install / Remove Packet is a tool to install/remove packets with debian apt-get.

About Apt-Get:

Advanced Packaging Tool, or APT, is a package management system used by Debian and its derivatives. APT was originally designed to work with .deb packages on Debian systems, but it has since been modified to work with RPM packages via apt-rpm, and to run on other operating systems such as Mac OS X (see fink). On systems with package management based on .deb, such as Debian, APT is a front-end for dpkg.

APT simplifies the process of installing and removing software on Unix systems, by automating the retrieval, (from the Internet, local network, or CD) the configuration, the compiling (sometimes) and the installation of software from APT sources.

There is no apt program per se; APT is a C++ library of functions that are used by several command line programs for dealing with packages, most notably apt-get and apt-cache.

APT front-ends can upgrade the system or specific packages. Packages can be installed or removed. When installing one or several packages, APT front-ends can list the dependencies of these packages, ask the administrator if packages recommended or suggested by newly installed packages should be installed too, automatically install dependencies and perform other operations on the systems packages to allow the installation of the packages. Similarly, to update one or several packages, front-ends can install, remove or update other packages.

APT is often hailed as one of Debians best features, giving Debian the reputation of being a "pain to install, but a joy to maintain", although with Debian 3.1 and its Debian-Installer, Debians installation might be too easy nowadays to keep this true.

HoneyLattice 0.1

HoneyLattice 0.1

HoneyLattice provides a simple honeypot system. more>>
HoneyLattice provides a simple honeypot system.

In computer terminology, a honeypot is a trap set to detect, deflect or in some manner counteract attempts at unauthorized use of information systems.

Generally it consists of a computer, data or a network site that appears to be part of a network but which is actually isolated, (un)protected and monitored, and which seems to contain information or a resource that would be of value to attackers. A honeypot that masquerades as an open proxy is known as a sugarcane.

A honeypot is valuable as a surveillance and early-warning tool. While often a computer, a honeypot can take on other forms, such as files or data records, or even unused IP address space. Honeypots should have no production value and hence should not see any legitimate traffic or activity. Whatever they capture can then be surmised as malicious or unauthorized.

One very practical implication of this is that honeypots designed to thwart spam by masquerading as systems of the types abused by spammers to send spam can categorize the material they trap 100% accurately: it is all illicit. A honeypot needs no spam-recognition capability, no filter to separate ordinary e-mail from spam. Ordinary e-mail never comes to a honeypot.

Honeypots can carry risks to a network, and must be handled with care. If they are not properly walled off, an attacker can use them to actually break into a system.

mod_ifier 0.8

mod_ifier is a simple Apache2 module which intercepts each incoming HTTP request to your webserver. more>>
mod_ifier is a simple Apache2 module which intercepts each incoming HTTP request to your webserver. mod_ifier allows you to reject malicious, buggy, or unwanted clients. Consider it an intelligent Apache-specific firewall!
Clients are rejected by a series of rules which you will need to create yourself, these rules allow you to block connections based upon headers sent in the request, or parameters sent to CGI scripts.
All together you can:
- Deny requests based upon arbitary incoming HTTP headers.
- e.g. Drop Referer-spam
- e.g. Drop badly behaved user agents.
- Deny requests based upon submitted CGI parameters (GET only.)
- Deny requests based upon path requested.
- Log those clients which were dropped.
- Execute commands when clients are dropped. (To add them to a firewall, for example.)

AMaViS-ng is a modular rewrite of amavisd and amavis-perl. more>>
AMaViS-ng is a modular rewrite of amavisd and amavis-perl. It scans email for malicious code inside attachments and archive files, stopping delivery if malicious code is found.

Most people will say: "A virus scanner? For UN*X? Why? Viruses do not work in a UNIX environment." On the first glance they are right (even if there are at least two viruses which run under Linux - well, actually they are Trojan Horses)

On the second view though, imagine a heterogene network environment where can exist UNIX and Windows systems.Now think of an UN*X server that serves Windows and/or Macintosh workstations via a POP3 service. Would it not be nice to ensure attachments coming via email are scanned for viruses before they reach a system they are able to infect? Well - that is what this package is for. It resides on the server that handles your incoming mails. When a mail arrives, instead of being delivered via procmail directly, is parsed through a script that extracts all attachments from the mail, unpacks (if needed) and scannes them using a professional virus scanner program.

KMail Power Tools 0.3

KMail Power Tools 0.3

KMail Power Tools is meant to be a suite of enhancements to KMail and may be other mail user agents. more>>
KMail Power Tools is meant to be a suite of enhancements to KMail and may be other mail user agents.
It is currently composed of only one (perl) script that acts as a filter (take input from stdin, outputs the modified mail to stdout), adds dialog boxes to kmail, and allows the user to:
- remove all attachments from an email (no user interaction),
- remove selectively attachments, after asking the user,
detach (i.e. save then remove) any attachment to a directory chosen by the user,
- hence reducing the size of your mailbox, while allowing you to backup important attached files.
All these actions are logged within a sentence in the mail body (see below).
Note: removing and detaching is already supported by Thunderbird, but my favourite mailer program is KMail, then...
How it works
KMail allows the definition of filters (like any other email program), but you can define filters:
- which are launched manually,
- which can be programs reading your email on stdin and outputing the result on stdout (or "pipe through").
So I had the idea to use this in order to enhance KMail, and allow it to remove and detach attachments: kmailpt will read and interpret the email (thank you Perl MIME::Parser), then depending on the command line switches, popup a dialog box to ask the user for a directory where to save attachments, and ask him which attachment to remove/detach (thank you Kdialog!).
Also, the sentence "[Attachment removed by jice (26/02/2007 20:33:01): bill.zip]" will be added to the mail body. When you detach an email, it will add a similar sentence, and if the mail body is html, you will even get a link to the new location of the file: "[Attachment saved by jice (26/02/2007 20:36:17) to heavenly.gif]", on which you can even click in order to view the detached file. For text/plain messages, the sentence will be something like: "[Attachment saved by jice (26/02/2007 20:36:17) to file:///home/jice/Images/heavenly.gif]" (unfortunately, although kmail renders http:// or ftp:// urls as links, file:// are not (yet?) - I should enter a bug on bugs.kde.org for this...).
Should you want to know the currently available command line switches, here is the help:
Usage: kmailpt [options]
kmailpt takes an email on stdin, performs actions based
on this mail, then output an email on stdout.
Without any option, it will remove any file attached.
Options:
-d detach the attachments (save and remove)
-q ask which attachment to remove
-h prints this help
