Recording level monitor 0.2.1

Recording level monitor 0.2.1

Recording level monitor records analog audio from the sources you choose and plays it back simultaneously. more>>
Recording level monitor records analog audio from the sources you choose and plays it back simultaneously so that you can hear it, while monitoring the loudness (input) level of the recording.

Youll be able to hear and see whether the volume is too high (introducing analog distortion and digital clipping) or too low (letting through background noise and hiss) on your audio gear.

Do you use your computer to record audio regularly? Have you noticed how hard it is to get great quality sound when recording into a computer? Did you ever try to set volume levels in your gear while juggling with input levels on your sound cards? Then this program is for you.

In the same spirit, you can choose which sound card you want to record from, which sound card you want use to hear the recorded sound, choose a recording input line and a recording input level mixer, and adjust the input level (optionally having the program lower the level if the input is too loud).

This program is licensed to you under the GNU General Public License.

KHdRecord

KHdRecord

KHdRecord is an audio hard disk recorder. more>>
KHdRecord is an audio recorder which writes directly to the harddisk.

This enables recording of LPs.

Encoding MP3-files uses a lot of computing resources. This program requires a 350 MHz CPU minimum to run. Encoding Ogg/Vorbis-files uses even more resources. On my 1.4GHz Pentium it takes half of the CPU time.

The program directly accesss the sound and the mixer device. If you use it as non-root, these devices must be accessible for the user.

Because /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer are symbolic links on the most systems, the devices behind the links must be accessible.

On most machines this are /dev/dsp0 and /dev/mixer0. To give the devices accessible log in as root. Enter chmod 777 /dev/dsp0 and chmod 777 /dev/mixer0 .

Krecordmydesktop is KDE frontend for recordmydesktop desktop recording software. more>>
Krecordmydesktop is KDE frontend for recordmydesktop desktop recording software.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.
Enhancements:
- radiobutton changed to checkbox in preferences
- when audio recording is disabled, audio quality slicer is disabled too
- better checks in slotRecordmydesktopStdout
- removed encoding on background while user is selecting output file name
- KProcess back as instance instead of a pointer
- temp files in working dir specified in preferences dialog
- default umask=rw for user, nothing for others, nothing for group
- using getuid() instead of getenv ("USER") for temp file name creation
- fixed crash on 64bit systems

mpegrec 1.0

mpegrec 1.0

mpegrec is a FREE, Open Source command-line tool for recording audio on Windows and Linux. more>>
mpegrec is a FREE, Open Source command-line tool for recording audio on Windows and Linux. It may be used to record direct-to-disk WAV files, and MP3 files. MP3 encoding requires an external MP3 encoder such as the lame encoder. Other encoders can be used with minimal changes to the source code.

Unlike other WAV recorders available online, mpegrec is free -- even on Windows. (MP3 encoding may require a licensed encoder.) The command-line inteface is easy to use -- easy enough you will not miss a silly GUI. If you have an audio card capable of hardware-mpeg encoding, mpegrec for Windows can utilize the cards features for direct-to-disk MP3 recording.

NOTE: mpegrec on Linux is slightly dated and may require porting to newer kernels. If you port mpegrec feel free to share it in accordance with the GNU GPL license. If you can make the package small enough, I will consider posting it here.

To install wavrec and mpegrec simply type make at the shell:

make

To install wavrec and a sym-link for mpegrec type make install:

make install

rstudio 0.6

rstudio 0.6

rstudio is a GTK+ GUI that controls programs used in recording, CD mastering, and managing a SHOUTcast server. more>>
rstudio project is a GTK+ GUI that controls programs used in recording, CD mastering, and managing a SHOUTcast server.
The "Radio Station" referred to here is a Shoutcast server. Before you can play any music on the station, you need to either record your own, or use a Peer-to-Peer program or other source to download some music.
The GTK-Gnutella button starts a peer to peer fileshareing program called GTK-Gnutella where you can get a wide variety of music free.
Start Radio station starts up the shoutcast server and its source client, which feeds an mp3 playlist to the server for broadcast.
The playlist file is created when you press the "Close" button in the playlist manager. The playlist manager lets you view either the downloaded files from GTK-Gnutella, or the permanent collection of files. You can select a file, then move it to the permanent collection, only if you are viewing the downloaded files. For either set, you may delete a file, or play it.
Audacity is a very versatile recording tool that can be used to create original content, or to record from other sources, such as a Shoutcast.com station, (or even your own shoutcast station).
Shoutcast.com button starts firefox, with the url of http://www.shoutcast.com so that you may listen to other shoutcast stations, or your own.
Kill XMMS stops any running xmms.
Quit exits rstudio.
GTK-Gnutella starts the P-2-P filesharing system.
K3B can be used to master audio CDs, or even mp3 data CDs that can be played on an mp3-compatible cd player or dvd player.
Enhancements:
- A shuffle playlist button was added.
- The audio player was changed to Audacious since Gentoo does not support XMMS.
- This version was tested on Gentoo AMD64 and Kubuntu 386.

erikyyyphone 1.0.1

erikyyyphone 1.0.1

erikyyyphone is an Internet audio conferencing application. more>>
erikyyyphone is an Internet audio conferencing application. No new features are added so far.It produces very low traffic on your line! Yes there already was this great audio conference software back in those old good days! All i did was fix a bit and automake it.
The servers are designed to communicate with each other on the internet. You control your server with your client.
Once the client shows its main screen, you can enable recording of digital audio by pressing the SPACEBAR. you will see that "**" appears around "RECORD WISH". this means that recording will actually be activated when possible. Recording IS really
activated, once you see "**" around "RECORD". why is it this complicated? well, if someone is just speaking to you, your soundcard is locked and recording is not possible. but because "RECORD WISH" is activated, recording will be started, once the person stops talking to you.
Recorded sound is sent to all servers listed in the "outgoing connects" list.
On the other hand, if any other servers connect you, they are listed in the "incoming connects" list.
You can connect a new server by entering its IP, for example:
10.50.121.4
Please press ENTER when you are finished full names like "www.linux.org" are not supported, due to some technical difficulties not mentioned in this file ... (hehe. now in the year 1999 i will tell you, why this is so. dns lookups do block and so sound cannot he heard)
Enhancements:
- fixed sound stuff. program now works again!
