XML::Records is a Perl module for perlish record-oriented interface to XML. more>>
XML::Records is a Perl module for perlish record-oriented interface to XML.

SYNOPSIS

use XML::Records;
my $p=XML::Records->new(data.lst);
$p->set_records(credit,debit);
my ($t,$r)
while ( (($t,$r)=$p->get_record()) && $t) {
my $amt=$r->{Amount};
if ($t eq debit) {
...
}
}

XML::Records provides a single interface for processing XML data on a stream-oriented, tree-oriented, or record-oriented basis. A subclass of XML::TokeParser, it adds methods to read "records" and tree fragments from XML documents.

In many documents, the immediate children of the root element form a sequence of identically-named and independent elements such as log entries, transactions, etc., each of which consists of "field" child elements or attributes. You can access each such "record" as a simple Perl hash.

You can also read any element and its children into a lightweight tree implemented as a Perl hash, or feed the contents of any element and its children into a SAX handler (making it possible to process "records" with modules like XML::DOM or XML::XPath).

gtk-recordMyDesktop is a GUI frontend for recordMyDesktop desktop capture application to be used on the GNOME desktop.

recordMyDesktop is a desktop session recorder for linux that attemps to be easy to use, yet also effective at its primary task. As such, the program is separated in two parts; a simple command line tool that performs the basic tasks of capturing and encoding and an interface that exposes the program functionality in a usable way.

The commandline tool (which essentially is recordMyDesktop), is written in C, while the frontend (gtk-recordMyDesktop), is written in python and pyGtk.

recordMyDesktop offers also the ability to record audio, along with video, without the need of any later proccesing or mixing.

Off-the-Record Messaging 3.1.0

Off-the-Record Messaging 3.1.0

Off-the-Record Messaging is a Pidgin plugin that allows you to have private conversations over instant messaging. more>>
Off-the-Record Messaging is a Pidgin plugin that allows you to have private conversations over instant messaging by providing:
Encryption
No one else can read your instant messages.
Authentication
You are assured the correspondent is who you think it is.
Deniability
The messages you send do not have digital signatures that are checkable by a third party. Anyone can forge messages after a conversation to make them look like they came from you. However, during a conversation, your correspondent is assured
the messages he sees are authentic and unmodified.
Perfect forward secrecy
If you lose control of your private keys, no previous conversation is compromised.
Enhancements:
- Translations for English, Dutch, Spanish, French, Slovak
- Added option to not log OTR conversations
- Large messages are now fragmented transparently instead of failing
- Removed "view secure session id" and "verify fingerprint" options from the OTR button menu. Added "authenticate buddy" option in its place. This new option allows you to authenticate your buddies by entering some secret that only the two of you know, rather than by using a long user-unfriendly sequence of hex characters. [The old "verify fingerprint" dialog is still available via an "Advanced..." button from the new "authenticate buddy" dialog.]

CDRDAO 1.2.2

CDRDAO 1.2.2

CDRDAO is Disk-At-Once Recording of Audio CD-Rs. more>>
Cdrdao records audio or data CD-Rs in disk-at-once (DAO) mode based on a textual description of the CD contents (toc-file).
Recording in disk-at-once mode writes the complete disc, i.e. lead-in, one or more tracks and lead-out, in a single step. The commonly used track-at-once (TAO) mode writes each track independently which requires link blocks between two tracks.
Older CD-recorder models forced a two second pause (pre-gap) between two tracks whereas newer models allow adjusting of the pause length in TAO mode reducing the number of link blocks to a minimal amount.
However, with TAO it is generally not possible to define the data that is written in pre-gaps. But exactly this feature makes audio CD recording interesting, e.g. by creating hidden bonus tracks or track intros in pre-gaps like it is common habit on commercial CDs.
Finally, DAO recording is the only way to write data to the unused R-W sub-channels for e.g. CD-G or CD-TEXT.
Main features:
- Full control over length and contents of pre-gaps (pause areas between tracks). Pre-gaps may be completely omitted, e.g. for dividing live recordings into tracks.
- Control over sub-channel data like:
- catalog number
- copy, pre-emphasis, 2-/4-channel flags
- ISRC code
- index marks
- Support for exact audio, data and mixed mode CD copying.
- Support for R-W sub-channel writing.
- Tracks may be composed of different audio files supporting non destructive cut.
- Accepts WAVE and raw audio files.
- CD-TEXT reading and writing with drives that support it.
- CDDB access to automatically create CD-TEXT data.
- Support for on-the-fly copying.
Enhancements:
- Added device locking for win32 (Giuseppe Corbelli)
- Man page cleanup (Andrew Suffield)
GCDMaster changes:
- Fixed GCC 4.1 compilation issues
- Fixed hang when inserting WAV file

MDF audio extracter 0.1

MDF audio extracter 0.1

MDF audio extracter project is a tool to extract audio data from MDF/MDS audio cd images to wav or raw files. more>>
MDF audio extracter project is a tool to extract audio data from MDF/MDS audio cd images to wav or raw files. Tracks will be extracted to the current directory and named track_[num].wav or track_[num].raw. Output can also be redirected to stdout to allow the audio data to be fed to an encoder or player directly.
You need both a .mds and .mdf file to be able to extract tracks. The .mds file contains the information about the tracks, while the .mdf file contains the actual data. They usually should have the same name (except for the extension ofcourse). This is case sensitive, so for example FileName is not the same as filename.
Usage: mdfextract [options] file.mds
Options:
-i output mds info instead of extracting
-r extract raw track data
-s output to stdout instead of file
-t < num > extract single track (num > 0)
-q quiet, no output
Version restrictions:
- Probably does not work on big endian archs.

Recording level monitor 0.2.1

Recording level monitor 0.2.1

Recording level monitor records analog audio from the sources you choose and plays it back simultaneously. more>>
Recording level monitor records analog audio from the sources you choose and plays it back simultaneously so that you can hear it, while monitoring the loudness (input) level of the recording.

Youll be able to hear and see whether the volume is too high (introducing analog distortion and digital clipping) or too low (letting through background noise and hiss) on your audio gear.

Do you use your computer to record audio regularly? Have you noticed how hard it is to get great quality sound when recording into a computer? Did you ever try to set volume levels in your gear while juggling with input levels on your sound cards? Then this program is for you.

In the same spirit, you can choose which sound card you want to record from, which sound card you want use to hear the recorded sound, choose a recording input line and a recording input level mixer, and adjust the input level (optionally having the program lower the level if the input is too loud).

This program is licensed to you under the GNU General Public License.

This module is an attempt to provide a perl interface to the MAD (MPEG Audio Decoder) library, written by Robert Leslie. It has been designed to be 100% object oriented, and to follow the MAD interface as closely as possible.

So far, most of the MAD library, plus two companion modules are provided as part of the interface. Seperate documentation is provided in perldoc for all of the modules in the Audio::Mad framework.

EnsEMBL::Web::Record 1.01

EnsEMBL::Web::Record 1.01

EnsEMBL::Web::Record is a family of modules used for managing a users persistant data in a database. more>>
EnsEMBL::Web::Record is a family of modules used for managing a users persistant data in a database.

SYNOPSIS

Many web sites now encourage users to register and login to access more advanced features, and to customise a site to their needs.

The EnsEMBL::Web::Record group of Perl modules is design to manage any arbitrary type of user created data in an SQL database. This module follows the Active Record design pattern, in that each new instantiated Record object represents a single row of a database.

That object can be manipulated programatically, and any changes made can be stored in the database with a single record->save function call.

Because arbitrary Perl data structures can be stored in this manner, EnsEMBL::Web::Record allows user preferences to be easily saved, and allows developers to implement new featurs quickly.

This module was first used (and has been abstracted from) the Ensembl genome browser (http://www.ensembl.org).

New user data can be added to the database:

use EnsEMBL::Web::Record;

my $bookmark = EnsEMBL::Web::Record->new();
$bookmark->url(http://www.ensembl.org);
$bookmark->name(Ensembl);
$bookmark->save;
...

The Record can be associated with an user id:

$record->user($id);

The same record can also be removed:

$bookmark->delete;

EnsEMBL::Web::Record also provides a number of methods for getting collections of records from the database, using a field selector.

EnsEMBL::Web::Record::find_bookmarks_by_user_id($id).

Audio::DSP 0.02

Audio::DSP 0.02

Audio::DSP is a Perl interface to *NIX digital audio device. more>>
Audio::DSP is a Perl interface to *NIX digital audio device.

SYNOPSIS

use Audio::DSP;

($buf, $chan, $fmt, $rate) = (4096, 1, 8, 8192);

$dsp = new Audio::DSP(buffer => $buf,
channels => $chan,
format => $fmt,
rate => $rate);

$seconds = 5;
$length = ($chan * $fmt * $rate * $seconds) / 8;

$dsp->init() || die $dsp->errstr();

# Record 5 seconds of sound
for (my $i = 0; $i < $length; $i += $buf) {
$dsp->read() || die $dsp->errstr();
}

# Play it back
for (;;) {
$dsp->write() || last;
}

$dsp->close();

Audio::DSP is built around the OSS (Open Sound System) API and allows perl to interface with a digital audio device. It provides, among other things, an initialization method which opens and handles ioctl messaging on the audio device file. Audio::DSP also provides some rudimentary methods for the storage and manipulation of audio data in memory.

In order to use Audio::DSP, youll need to have the necessary OSS drivers/libraries installed. OSS is available for many popular Unices, and a GPLed version (with which this extension was initially developed and tested) is distributed with with the Linux kernel.
