Xtra Screen Hacks is a collection of graphics display modes that are meant to be run with a daemon such as XScreenSaver.

"Daisy" draws spinning flowers, and "Twinkle" draws a twinkling star field.

Compilation of Xtra Screen Hacks depends only on xlib.

Installation:

The configure script is not up and running yet, so the Makefiles and config.h are hacked versions of the ones xscreensavers configure script generated on the authors machine. If your system differs from the authors (i686 Debian GNU/Linux) then the build will probably not work for you, unless you hack the Makefiles and possibly config.h to modify the variables and defines.

If the Makefiles and config.h are ok, then simply run

$ make

to generate the binaries. They will be in the hacks directory.
If you have a copy of XScreensaver installed from the tarball, run

$ make install

If not, you will need to copy the files to their target directories by hand. Search for deluxe, deluxe.xml, and deluxe.1 (or deluxe.man, deluxe.6x.gz, etc) using locate, find, or whereis to figure out where they should go. The binaries and xml files must be in the correct directories
to work properly with xscreensaver-demo.

You will need to add entries to your .xscreensaver file by hand. Open $HOME/.xscreensaver in your favorite text editor and paste the following two lines into the "programs" section:

--snip----------------
- daisy -root n
- twinkle -root n
--snip----------------

Then run xscreensaver-demo to activate and configure the hacks.

If you dont have XScreensaver at all, just enjoy the hacks in an X window.

If make install worked for you, type

$ make uninstall

when you no longer want the new screen hacks.

Libdnsres 0.1a

Libdnsres 0.1a

Libdnsres provides a non-blocking, thread-safe API for resolving DNS names. more>>
Libdnsres provides a non-blocking, thread-safe API for resolving DNS names. Libdnsres requires that your main application is built on top of libevent. The API essentially mirrors the traditional gethostbyname and getaddrinfo interfaces.

All return values have been replaced by callbacks instead. The code borrows heavily from the BSD resolver library. In fact, it is an extremely ugly hack to make the BSD resolver library non-blocking and thread-safe without changing the API too much.

Although it has not been tested heavily, it should compile on BSD systems and Linux. The library comes with a simple test program that can be use to verify if it works correctly.

Harvs Hamshack Hack 06

Harvs Hamshack Hack 06

Harvs Hamshack Hack is a remaster of the KNOPPIX distro for Amateur Radio Operators (Hams). more>>
Harvs Hamshack Hack is a remaster of the KNOPPIX distro for Amateur Radio Operators (Hams).

This project is directed primarily at Amateur Radio enthusiasts (Hams) who have no prior experience with LINUX. Hopefully, experienced LINUX users (perhaps, even a "guru" or two) will give it a spin and offer corrections and suggestions for improvement ... in fact, they are obligated to do so!

The CD contains a complete LINUX-Knoppix operating system and enough software to accomplish the usual tasks we all perform daily from our homes ... web browsing, email, letter writing, etc.

In addition, there is a huge library of programs for our Amateur Radio hobby.

The Hamshack Hack is a "Live CD". As a "Live CD" system, no installation to your machines hard drive is necessary. The whole package will run off the CD by building a "ram disk" in your machines memory. As soon as you re-boot your machine, the LINUX system vaporizes and youll be back with whatever system is installed on your hard drive.

To obtain your very own copy of the "the Hack", you must download the "hamshack.iso" image file and then, using your favorite CD burner (I use K3B on Linux, or Nero on Windows), burn the image to a CD. Pick the "Burn CD Image" option, else youll end up with just another copy of the .iso file. Then, when the smoke clears, youll boot your machine with this new CD.

Emblems Hack is a simple hack to kdelibs-3.5.5 (and 3.5.6) that adds basic emblem support, like in GNOME. (It doesnt use the same format, though.)

There is currently no GUI to select emblems for files, so to set an emblem, run this command: attr -s emblem -V icon-name file

icon-name can be either a valid KDE icon name or an absolute path (e.g. /home/user/icon.png).

Currently, emblems are not drawn on thumbnail previews. Ill attempt to fix this in the next version.

K5expire 2.1

K5expire 2.1

K5expire is a tool to complement a Kerberos/LDAP server combination. more>>
K5expire is a tool to complement a Kerberos/LDAP server combination.
It checks all kerberos principals per user in LDAP for password and/or account expiration and sends E-mails to the owner if they will expire in a preconfigured amount of time.
It started as a hack to emulate the behavior of expiration found in pam_unix and Windows, but I believe this method to be less intrusive because it does not delay the login process.
Enhancements:
- Support for XMLSensor output was added.

dtRdr::Hack 0.0.11

dtRdr::Hack 0.0.11

dtRdr::Hack is a Perl module with self-documenting adaptive finger-wagging global vars. more>>
dtRdr::Hack is a Perl module with self-documenting adaptive finger-wagging global vars.

SYNOPSIS

This is a global store for things that cannot otherwise be cleanly solved at the moment.

package WayOver::OnThe::Left;
use dtRdr::Hack; dtRdr::Hack->set_variableB(45);

package Bottom::Right::Corner;
use dtRdr::Hack;
my $variableB = dtRdr::Hack->get_variableB;

Basically, just a way to formalize global variable sharing.
Arrays, hashes, objects, and globs are all passed and stored directly as references.

Declarations

Variables are declared in the %declarations and %deprecated hashes in the Hack.pm code. To deprecate variables, move them rather than duplicating.

The behavior is controlled by the following constants, which should be similar to perls warnings and strict pragmas (less the lexical aspects and dynamic switchability.)

my %declared = (
some_scalar => , # scalar
some_array => [], # array
some_hash => {}, # hash
some_univ => bless({}, UNIVERSAL), # any object
some_obj => bless({}, dtRdr::Book), # class or subclass
some_sub => sub {_die ex_sub}, # declare subs like this
some_undef => undef, # run-time typing
);

TODO: you can currently set an object where you declared a hash, but STRICT should probably not allow that.

Moving variables to %deprecated allows you to denote that your code should no longer be using these.

my %deprecated = (
some_other_scalar => ,
some_other_array => [],
some_other_hash => {},
some_other_sub => sub {_die ex_sub},
);

NOTE: The sub {_die ex_sub} idiom lets you stop yourself from calling what you thought was set elsewhere.

THC-Dialup Login Hacker 1.1

THC-Dialup Login Hacker 1.1

THC-Dialup Login Hacker is a tool for penetrating dialup modems. more>>
THC-Dialup Login Hacker is a tool for penetrating dialup modems.

All you need is UNIX and minicom. Have fun with this little release!

The internet is not the only door into a network. In this new days, wavelans are becoming popular, in old days, there were dial-in modems. But today, dial-in modems are still present in any company.

While tools for wardialing (scanning phone numbers for modems by dialing every number and checking if theres a carrier) are available for all operating systems for years, there were only a very few tools for trying to guess login/passwords against modem carriers, and they were all for MS-DOS only. Years ago, I wrote such a tool called LOGIN-HACKER, which is still in use by many people, just because theres no real choice.

About 5 years ago I completely moved from MS-DOS to UNIX (Linux and OpenBSD) so executing penetration tests became a pain in the ass for modem login hacking. Finally I wrote some scripts to hack into modem carriers for Unix as well.

To make it flexible and portable, I chose not to write my own terminal program and scripting language, like I did with LOGIN-HACKER. I just use simple Minicom scripts. And they are very effective! Also they could include more commands to interact with the operating system while the script is running, I made it possible, to autodetect almost any prompt, and detect if a login/password, or password only prompt was successfully passed or not.

SlashEM 0.0.8E0F1

SlashEM 0.0.8E0F1

SlashEM is a variant of the hugely popular roguelike game NetHack. more>>
SlashEM is a graphical roguelike game and variant of NetHack.
From the land before 3DFX, before VGA graphics and DOOM, before the IBM PC, way back in the dark ages of Unixland, there was a game. They called it Rogue. People played it, and found it good.
From this basis, Hack was born. Soon Hack became Nethack, because it was developed by many people (and has nothing to do with hacking the internet). And people played this on many machines, from Unices to Macs to PCs, due to the amazing power of Open Source Code.
But the DevTeam, the reclusive masterminds of Nethack, are a rather quiet bunch, gracing the world with new versions as they see fit, and when they see fit. Which is usually a new version every good number of years.
And there was much gnashing of teeth.
But because of the Freely Available Source Code Phenomenon, people began making their own versions of Nethack to tide themselves between magical releases.
SLASHEM is the (continuing) saga of one such variant...
This is the homepage for Warren Cheungs modification and experiment in computer engineering based on the 3.3.1 release of Nethack, combining Tom Proudfoots SLASH and the Larry Stewart-Zerbas Wizard Patch. From these humble beginnings, a not insignificant number of further changes have been added.
Enhancements:

- fix default values in help strings,
- more portable use of test and sed,
- drop useless borg and shout features,
- recognize mingw32 platform for msys,
- support aclocal 1.7 (needed for msys development),
- basic support for Microsoft Windows native graphics,
- better determination of default windowing system,

- Fixed bug 1258355: autoconf Makefile.src assumes UNIX
- Fixed bug 1258357: configure doesnt set TTY_GRAPHICS under mingw32
- Fixed bug 1258358: No autoconf support for key handlers
- Fixed bug 1380333: Random seed problem (0.0.8)
- Fixed bug 1586568: Check for user games Plus other fixes shared with the stable branch.
