Ham Radio Control Libraries 1.2.6.2

Ham Radio Control Libraries 1.2.6.2

Ham Radio Control Libraries, Hamlib for short, is a development effort to provide a consistent interface for programmers. more>>
Ham Radio Control Libraries is a development effort to provide a consistent interface for programmers wanting to incorporate radio control in their programs.

Hamlib is not a complete user application, rather, it is a software layer intended to make controlling various radios and other shack hardware much easier.

Hamlib will allow authors of such software as logging programs, digital communications programs, or those wanting to develop the ultimate radio control software to concentrate on the user interface and the basic function of the program rather than radio control.

Most recent amateur radio transceivers allow external control of their functions through a serial interface. Unfortunately, control commands are not always consistent across a manufacturers product line and each manufacturers product line differs greatly from its competitors.

Hamlib attempts to solve this problem by presenting a "virtual radio" to the programmer by providing an API to actions such as setting a given VFOs frequency, setting the operating mode, querying the radio of its current status and settings, and giving the application a list of a given radios capabilities. Unfortunately, what can be accomplished by hamlib is limited by the radios themselves and some offer very limited capability.

Template::Alloy::Operator 1.006

Template::Alloy::Operator 1.006

Template::Alloy::Operator is a Perl module that provides the regexes necessary for Template::Alloy::Parse to parse operators. more>>
Template::Alloy::Operator is a Perl module that provides the regexes necessary for Template::Alloy::Parse to parse operators and place them in their appropriate precedence.

It also provides the play_operator method which is used by Template::Alloy::Play and Template::Alloy::Compile for playing out the stored operator ASTs.

ROLE METHODS

play_operator

Takes an operator AST in the form of

[undef, +, 1, 2]

Essentially, all operators are stored in RPN notation with a leading "undef" to disabiguate operators in a normal Alloy expression AST.

define_operator

Used for defining new operators.

See Template::Alloy for more details.

P2P-Radio provides a peer-to-peer audio and video broadcasting system. more>>
P2P-Radio provides a peer-to-peer audio and video broadcasting system.
P2P-Radio is a peer-to-peer audio (MP3) and video (NSV) broadcasting system that features freeloader detection, stream signing, SHOUTcast support, an easy-to-use GUI, and a separate monitor application which displays the current structure of the P2P network.
P2P-Radio is programmed in Java and runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and many other systems.
Main features:
- Easy to use (graphical user interface)
- You can play the music/video with your media player (i.e. Winamp)
- A Shoutcast/Icecast Internet radio/TV station is used as audio/video source
- Freeloaders (peers that only listen but dont want to send the stream to other listeners) will be detected
- The data stream is signed, you can be sure that it arrives unchanged
- Very efficient communication (low overhead)
- The network structure can be viewed with a monitor
Enhancements:
- Signing of streams has been turned off by default in order to save CPU time (enable it with the parameter "-sign")
- P2P-Radio will only cooperate with a monitor if it was started with the parameter "-enablemonitor"
- Two parameters control whether the media player will be started:
- startmediaplayer: Start the media player in broadcasting mode
- dontstartmediaplayer: Dont start the media player in listening mode

GNU Radio 2.8

GNU Radio 2.8

GNU Radio is a collection of software that when combined with minimal hardware, allows the construction of radios. more>>
GNU Radio is a collection of software that when combined with minimal hardware, allows the construction of radios where the actual waveforms transmitted and received are defined by software. What this means is that it turns the digital modulation schemes used in todays high performance wireless devices into software problems.
What is a Software Defined Radio?
Joe Mitola says, "A software radio is a radio whose channel modulation waveforms are defined in software. That is, waveforms are generated as sampled digital signals, converted from digital to analog via a wideband DAC and then possibly upconverted from IF to RF. The receiver, similarly, employs a wideband Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) that captures all of the channels of the software radio node. The receiver then extracts, downconverts and demodulates the channel waveform using software on a general purpose processor."
For our purposes, on the receive side, the idea is to get a wide band ADC as close to the antenna as is convenient, get the samples into something we can program, and then grind on them in software.
Enhancements:
- GNU Radio 2.6 includes sending and receiving data at up to 1Mbit/sec using GMSK. - Theres also support for the new USRP Flex 400 transceiver daughterboards.
- Handling of all daughterboards has been unified, so most apps will work without modification on any of them. For those of you interested in wireless networking, see especially gnuradio-examples/python/gmsk2. Weve got a framework in place to allow you to build and experiment with your own MACs. 2.6 includes the "null MAC". A carrier sense MAC is the next logical step.

Operator 0.7 for Firefox

Operator 0.7 for Firefox

Operator is a Firefox extension that lets you combine information on Web sites with applications in ways that are useful. more>>
Operator is a Firefox extension that lets you combine information on Web sites with applications in ways that are useful.

For instance, Flickr + Google Maps, Upcoming.org + Google Calendar, Yahoo! Local + your address book, and many more possibilities and permutations.

All of these scenarios are possible due to Microformats, an emerging standard for injecting semantics into HTML.

You can use Operator to debug your microformats. Holding down the Ctrl key when you select a microformat action will show you the HTML that corresponds to that microformat. In addition, holding down the Shift key when you select a microformat action will display our internal representation of the microformat data.

If a microformat doesnt show up, but you believe there is one, it might be because the microformat is invalid. You can turn on debug mode in options to see invalid microformats.

Also, Operator was designed to be extensible. You can add more microformats and more handlers for existing microformats. For more information, check out handler-example.js and microformat-example.js in the Operator extension directory after you have installed Operator. New microformats and handlers should be placed in a directory called "microformats" in your profile directory.

I understand that I used a different way to do the translation for this version of the extension (JS file). For the next version, I will move the translation into a properties file.

Radio Shortest Path First 1.1

Radio Shortest Path First 1.1

Radio Shortest Path First (RSPF) is a routing protocol for wireless networks. more>>
Radio Shortest Path First (RSPF) is a routing protocol for wireless networks. This particular implementation is written for Linux and conforms to version 2.2 of the protocol specification. There are many reasons why our networks are complicated, but one significant thing is that you can no longer assume that just because you hear one station, then they can hear you. This means you can have a lot of unidirectional routes.
The current specification is RSPF version 2.2, written by Fred Goldstein K1IO. Until recently, if people were using RSPF at all, they would of been using RSPF version 2.1, which is available in the NOS program, written by Phil Karn and others. The RSPF code itself in NOS was written by Anders Klements.Thats why standard protocols dont work very well over amateur packet radio.
Now with the knowledge of how his protocol worked in real life, Fred then updated and improved RSPF to version 2.2. And, until late 1995, that was all that happened.
What did happen was that I was in my senior years in my undergraduate degree at University of Technology, Sydney and looking for an interesting Thesis. After seeing emails from Carl Makin VK1KCM asking if anyone was going to fix RSPF in NOS, this gave me my idea for my Thesis.
Enhancements:
- Control port speaks IPv6
- Made the ChangeLog prettier
- Fixed the checksum code so it works.
- Put everything through syslog()
- :s/t/ /

iRATE radio provides users with a powerful new way to find and download free, legal music online. more>>
iRATE radio provides users with a powerful new way to find and download free, legal music online.

Users rate tracks based on their tastes. The iRATE server then selects other tracks to send to the user from a database of over 50,000 freely downloadable songs by correlating the users ratings with other users, and finding people with similar tastes.

Unlike streaming audio, iRATE saves the tracks to the users hard drive. This means that playback is smoother, without the typical problems associated with streaming media, such as high bandwidth usage.
