Irssi Quotes System 1.2

Irssi Quotes System 1.2

Irssi Quotes System is a script for the Irssi IRC client that provides commands for showing random or specific quotes. more>>
Irssi Quotes System is a script for the Irssi IRC client that provides commands for showing specific or random quotes, searching for quotes using SQL-style wild cards, and adding and deleting quotes.
Commands:
!quote [id] - Shows the quote with that id, or a random quote if none is used.
!search - Searches for *string* - SQL-style wildcards.
!whoset - Shows the author of the quote under that id.
!addquote - Adds a quote in the database.
!db - Prints number of non-deleted quotes in the database.
/delquote - Deletes a quote (actually it just marks the quote as deleted, nobody will be able to see it unless you restore it)
/restore - Restores a quote.
In order to install the irssi quotes system you have to do the following:
Download http://surferz.info/irssi_quotes.sql
Execute it: mysql -p yourdbname < irssi_quotes.sql
Go to your Irssi scripts directory, normally it is ~/.irssi/scripts/
Download http://surferz.info/irssi_quotes.pl
Open irssi_quotes.pl with your favorite text editor and edit these variables:
$database = (yourdbname);
$username = (dbuser);
$password = (dbpass);
Save irssi_quotes.pl
In your Irssi client type: /script load irssi_quotes.pl
Thats it! If you want the script to be loaded automatically at startup, put irssi_quotes.pl in the ~/.irssi/scripts/autorun/ directory. If the directory doesnt exist, create it.
Enhancements:
- Levels were added for the !addquote command.
- The owner can choose who may add quotes: only opped clients, only opped and voiced clients, or everyone.
- The commands must be written on a #channel, as the script wont listen to query windows anymore.

Finance-QuoteHist provides Finance::QuoteHist, a Perl module that provides easy fetching of historical stock quotes. more>>
Top level aggregator that will select a default lineup of site instances default lineup of site instancesof site instancesof site instancesof site instances from which to retrieve quotes.
Other than the default lineup, this module behaves identically to whichever site-specific module is first in the lineup. See below for site-specific modules.
METHODS
The basic user interface consists of several methods, as seen in the example above. Those methods are:
quotes()
Returns a list of rows (or a reference to an array containing those rows, if in scalar context). Each row contains the Symbol, Date, Open, High, Low, Close, and Volume for that date. Optionally, if non-adjusted values were requested, their will be an extra element at the end of the row for the Adjusted closing price.
dividends()
Returns a list of rows (or a reference to an array containing those rows, if in scalar context). Each row contains the Date and amount of the Dividend, in that order.
splits()
Returns a list of rows (or a reference to an array containing those rows, if in scalar context). Each row contains the Date, Post split shares, and Pre split shares, in that order.
source($ticker, $target)
Each of these methods displays which site-specific class actually retrieved the information, if any, for a particular ticker symbol and target such as quote (default), dividend, or split.
Enhancements:
- The internal structure was changed to use date iterators where appropriate.

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Australia 1.12

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Australia 1.12

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Australia is a Perl module to fetch Australian stock quotes via Yahoo. more>>
Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Australia is a Perl module to fetch Australian stock quotes via Yahoo.

SYNOPSIS

use Finance::Quote;
my $q = Finance::Quote->new;

my %info = $q->fetch("yahoo_australia","BHP"); # Use this module only.
my %info = $q->fetch("australia","BHP"); # Failover with other methods.

This module allows information to be fetched from Yahoo abouts stocks traded on the Australian Stock Exchange. Information about indexes (such as the All Ordinaries) are not available through this module, although if information is requested from the "australia" source then these will automatically failover to direct queries from the Australian Stock Exchange.

This module is loaded by default on a Finance::Quote object, although it can be explicitly loaded by passing the argument "Yahoo::Australia" to Finance::Quote->new().

This module provides both the "australia" and "yahoo_australia" fetch methods. You should use the "australia" method if you wish to allow failovers to other sources, and "yahoo_australia" if you only want to obtain quotes from this module.

Information obtained via this module is governed by Yahoos terms and conditions, see http://au.finance.yahoo.com/ for more details.

LABELS RETURNED

This module returns all the standard labels (where available) provided by Yahoo, as well as the currency label. See Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Base for more information.

Camera Life 2.6

Camera Life 2.6

Full Decent Camera Life is a photo gallery system. more>>
Camera Life (FDCL) is a system for cataloging your photo collection. Camera Life project gives users the ability to search your archive by albums that you set up, or by directory structure.
Camera life (FDCL) is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
FDCL is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU General Public License for more details.
You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License along with Chatterbox; see the file LICENSE. If not, write to the Free Software Foundation, Inc., 59 Temple Place - Suite 330, Boston, MA 02111-1307, USA. Or visit http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
Main features:
Self Updating
- When you add photos to the photo directory you specified when installing, FDCL will cache, thumnail and make public all such photos (Administration: File Manager). You can allow certain user classes to maintain your site by editing the photo descriptions and delete photos that suck.
Topic view and Folder View
- On the main page, users are presented with the option of viewing photos by topic or folder. In topic view, albums (collections of like photos) are categorized by topic (ex: People, Things, My Vacataions).
- Folder view is hierrical and based on the directory structure of the photos. When viewing a photo, users are given the option to view others photos in the same topic or folder.
Image deletion
- When viewing a photo, you have the option to delete it. When a user deletes an image, FDCL actually flags it as non-public. An admin has to actually erase it (Administration: File Manager). And when you erase it, FDCL just moves it to the erased folder. FDCL will never rm your photos. With this in mind, it is sensible to allow users to delete offensive images and admins to erase them.
Themes
- You can easily change the look of the entire site by choosing a different theme (Administration: Customize: Themes). Official themes can be downlaoded from http://fdcl.sourceforge.net other themes are available at your local supermarket (or not).
Users
- Users can anonyously sign up an account. The admins choose which accounts to give privileges to. All authentication is done by random cookies saved in the DB and passwords are salted and hashed.
Logging
- Some actions are logged to the logs table. This is done via the db_log function. You can view the logs (Administration: Log Viewer) and see the audit trail to modifications to the ssytem. You can then rollback specific action (like renaming a photo) by simply choosing the previous state to go back to.
Enhancements:
- This version adds support for Gallery Remote API, microformats, sitemaps, OpenSearch, and RSS feeds, and supports iPhoto photocasting.
- There are now photo keywords with a del.icio.us-like keyword editor.
- Checkpoints allow you to review and approve changes to the site.
- Your users can now order prints online.
- There are also big changes under the hood and some security enhancements.

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::USA 1.12

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::USA 1.12

Finance::Quote::Yahoo::USA is a Perl module to obtain information about stocks and funds in the USA and Canada. more>>
Finance::Quote::Yahoo::USA is a Perl module to obtain information about stocks and funds in the USA and Canada.

SYNOPSIS

use Finance::Quote;

$q = Finance::Quote->new;

%info = $q->fetch("usa","SGI");

This method provides access to financial information from a number of exhcanges in the United States and Canada. The following methods are available:

canada
usa
yahoo
nyse
nasdaq
vanguard
fidelity

These methods all use the same information source, and hence can be considered somewhat interchangable. However, the method "yahoo" should be passed to fetch if you wish to obtain information from any source that Yahoo tracks.

This method is loaded by default by Finance::Quote, although it can be explicitly loaded by passing the argument "Yahoo::USA" to Finance::Quote->new().

Information returned by this module may be subject to Yahoos terms and conditions. See http://finance.yahoo.com/ for more information.

LABELS RETURNED

This module returns all the standard labels that Yahoo provides, as well as the currency label. See Finance::Quote::Yahoo::Base for more information.

BUGS

Yahoo does not make a distinction between the various exchanges in the United States and Canada. For example, it is possible to request a stock using the "NYSE" method and still obtain data even if that stock does not exist on the NYSE but exists on a different exchange.

Distributed Artificial Life 1.0.0

Distributed Artificial Life 1.0.0

Distributed Artificial Life project uses spare CPU cycles to create life. more>>
Distributed Artificial Life project uses spare CPU cycles to create life.

Distributed Artificial Life is a distributed version of Tom S. Rays Tierra artificial life program. It uses spare CPU cycles to simulate a distributed soup of living cells.

Note that the machine language used is similar to but not compatible with Tierra. Tom Ray talks about his work (as far as I know, never completed) to create a "Digital Reserve". The DLIFE project is a development of this.

In other words, its an alternative to the tedious process of cracking RC5 keys or searching for aliens. Youve got a supercomputer on your desk, lets go and create some life ...

It consists of a highly optimized engine for running the artificial life cells in a virtual machine, written in C, and some Perl scripts which can upload and download cells from central ``cell-bank servers.
