VT6530 Terminal Emulator 0.2
VT6530 is a Java implementation of the proprietary terminal used with Tandem mainframes. more>>
VT6530 Terminal Emulator is a Java implementation of the proprietary terminal used with Tandem mainframes.
The Tandem VT6530 is a proprietary terminal used with their Non-Stop(TM) series of mainframes. These high-reliability machines are popular in the banking industry. If youve ever used an ATM to get cash, youve probably used a VT6530.
The terminal itself can operate in three different mode: conversation, block, and ANSI (VT100). Conversation mode is a simple scrolling text mode with the addition key buffering and text attributes. In block mode, text is displayed in a formated screen with special edit fields. ANSI mode is only used with OSS, Tandems UNIX wanabe operating layer.
Enhancements:
- Autotools support (./configure, make, make check, and make install).
- New telnet and ANSI terminal implementations.
- Linux, Cygwin, and HP NonStop (tandem OSS) builds are not quite running yet.

Wide Area Link Emulator 0.1
Wide Area Link Emulator enables you to set and test various parameters of a WAN access link more>>
Wide Area Link Emulator enables you to set and test various parameters of a WAN access link (also known as a bottleneck link) before testing on a fully-functional network.
Any ISP has a high bandwidth LAN (of the order of tens of Mbps, e.g. Ethernet) and a WAN access link with relatively low speeds (of the order of a few Kbps to a few Mbps). To be able to evaluate the ISPs performance, actual tests will have to be conducted on a live, fully functional network. This would imply enabling certain features in communication equipment which could be detrimental to the proper functioning of a commissioned network. To address such a problem of being able to characterize/quantify the network operation in terms of its performance with respect to various parameters, a test-bed emulating the ISPs connectivity to the Internet would be an ideal solution.
An important factor in setting up such a test-bed, is emulating the WAN Access Link. Using complex hardware is costly. Such a link can however be easily implemented by emulating the scenario on popular physical technology such as Ethernet. By changing the TCP/IP stack on a Personal Computer, the rate at which packets are injected into the network can be controlled and other necessary features can easily be added.
WALE was implemented in 2 phases and the first version can emulated bandwidths up to 8Mbps and uses FIFO queues with drop-tail.
WALE v2 can emulate bandwidths of up to 80Mbps(a 10-fold improvement over version 1) due to the stripped down version of Micro-second resolution timer being used in the Linux kernel. WALE also implements differentiated services are recommended by IETF. A hash-based packet classifier is used to classify packets into one of 3 queues (Expedited Forwarding, Assured Forwarding and Best Effort). A simple priority scheduling has been implemented between the queues.
Version 2 has been implemented in the Generic Device Layer of the Linux Kernel. The kernel version is 2.2.19. WALE2 kernel patch can be downloaded here. An ncurses based front end has been implemented for setting and viewing various parameters of the bottleneck link.

Magic Mirror Backup 1.0 beta2
Magic Mirror Backup works by copying the files and folders on your computer to other computers within your office. more>>
Magic Mirror Backup works by copying the files and folders on your computer to other computers within your office. In exchange, these other computers also copy their own files onto your computer.
This sharing of backups has quite a few advantages not the least of which are that it is extremely convenient and cost effective. (This symbiotic mechanism for backing up data is often called peer to peer backup or p2p backup.)
There is also an optional off-site component so that you can additionally backup to a remote server to protect against office-wide failures like fire, theft, or hurricanes.
Main features:
- It works with your existing hardware requiring no new hardware investment and providing greater value for your existing investment.
- It will work in conjunction with your existing backup strategy. If you make regular backups to external media, thats great. Use Magic Mirror Backup to add daily backup protection to your critical or frequently changing data.
- It is automatic - you do not need to worry about swapping tapes, Zip Disks, or CD-Rs.
Here are some of the commonly requested details on how Magic Mirror Backup works:
- Backups are password protected so that, when a password is specified, others in your office will not be able to read your files (without breaking into your account, which would require a great deal of technical expertise and hacking).
- Backups are only sent to computers you select - your backups will not be sent to computers that you have not authorized.
- You select the files and folders for backup. If you want to limit the size of the backups stored on the computers in your office, you can choose to only backup your "My Documents" and email folders, for instance. If, on the other hand, all the computers have plenty of free space, you can expand the backup to cover less critical files as well.

PearPC 0.4
PearPC is an architecture-independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems. more>>
PearPC is an architecture-independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems.
This release fixes an ugly partition mapping bug which prevented PearPC to boot OpenDarwin. But the fix might cause regressions: so if your image is no longer booting and you can compile pearpc yourself, please talk to the pearpc-devel mailing list.
Installation:
-Get the Mandrake Installations CDs from a near mirror.
-Read the getting started document first.
-Join the club.
-Make sure you have configured with a big harddisk (3 GiB should do) and a CDROM with the Mandrake 9.1 PPC CD1 inserted. Select a 15 bit video mode. (ppc_start_resolution to 1, 4 or 7)
-Boot and you should get the yaboot menu.
-Press enter and wait.
-At some point, a graphical installer will show up.
-I wont partition your disk for you so you have to do it on your own
create 2 partitions: Apple bootstrap and a Linux onecontinue install.
It will ask you to insert another CD. Click "Change CD" and choose a different .iso or simply insert a different CD. Continue.
-Something bad may happen in the end of the install. Nevermind.
While the CPU emulation may be slow (1/500th or 1/15th, see above), the speed of emulated hardware is hardly impacted by the emulation; the emulated hard-drive and CDROM e.g. are very fast, especially with OS that support bus-mastering (Linux, Darwin, Mac OS X do).
Because the author has only access to a little-endian machine, PearPC will most likely only run on little-endian architectures. This shouldnt be hard to fix and the author would fix this himself if he such hardware. (You can donate some big-endian hardware to get this fixed!)
Equally, PearPC will probably only run on 32-bit architectures. This shouldnt be hard to fix either. (You can donate...)
A lot of unimplementated features are fatal (i.e. will abort PearPC).
Timings are very still a little bit inaccurate. Dont rely on benchmarks made in the client.
PearPC lacks a save/restore machine-state feature.
No Altivec support yet but being worked on.
No LBA48 (but LBA). Currently no support for hard disks greater than 128 GiB. Disks > 4GiB are not tested very well.

File::Mirror is a Perl extension for recursive directory copy.
SYNOPSIS
use File::Mirror;

mirror /path/A, /path/B;
# or do things you like
recursive { my ($from, $to) = @_; copy($from, $to) } /path/A, /path/B;
File::Mirror provides two helper functions to do recursive directory operations between source path and destination path. One is to call mirror which will do recursive copy. The other is to call recursive with a code block, which will be code for every file found in the source path.
File::Mirror fills the gap between File::Copy::Recursive, which only focuses on file copying, and File::Find, which is too obstacal to use.
