PCLinuxOS Preview 81a is an English only self-booting live cd that runs entirely from a bootable CD without installing anything on your computer.

Data on the CD is uncompressed on the fly allowing up to 2 GB of programs on one CD including a complete Xserver, KDE 3.3.2 Desktop, Open Office 1.1.4, Thunderbird 1.0, Firefox 1.0, p2p filesharing and much more, all preconfigured and ready to use!

In addition to the livecd mode, you can also install PCLinuxOS to your hard drive using our easy to use livecd installer, assuming you like PCLinuxOS and it runs well on your computer.

PCLinuxOS is currently under heavy development and should be considered beta software. PCLinuxOS should work on most modern hardware and comes with advanced hardware detection. PCLinuxOS runs best on computers with at least 256 megabytes of memory.

mod_pointer is an Apache module for making domain redirects easy - the known service of many hosting providers that lets a domain point to your webpage on another server.

The configuration part of the mappings are handled in either a MySQL or Postgresql database or a NDBM or SDBM db file, so its easy to build a webbased interface for letting users change it on their own.

Gracie is an OpenID provider for local system accounts. The project authenticates users name and password against the local PAM system, and presents OpenID identities for those users.

mod_shib is a shibboleth single sign-on module. Shibboleth is standards-based, open source middleware software which provides Web Single SignOn (SSO) across or within organizational boundaries. It allows sites to make informed authorization decisions for individual access of protected online resources in a privacy-preserving manner.

The Shibboleth software implements the OASIS SAML v1.1 specification, providing a federated Single-SignOn and attribute exchange framework. Shibboleth also provides extended privacy functionality allowing the browser user and their home site to control the Attribute information being released to each Service Provider. Using Shibboleth-enabled access simplifies management of identity and access permissions for both Identity and Service Providers.
