Sendmail Sender Address Validator 1.4.0
smf-sav is a lightweight, fast and reliable Sendmail milter that implements a real-time Sender e-Mail Address Verification. more>>
smf-sav is a lightweight, fast and reliable Sendmail milter that implements a real-time Sender e-Mail Address Verification technology. This technology can stop some kind of SPAM with a spoofed senders e-Mail address.
Also it implements a real-time Recipient e-Mail Address Verification technology. It can be useful if your machine is a backup MX for the recipients domain or if your machine forwards all e-Mail messages for your domain to another (presumably internal) e-Mail server. Sendmail Sender Address Validator is written in C.
Main features:
- friendly hosts/networks whitelist;
- SMTP AUTH support;
- strictly RFC-2821 compliant MX callback engine;
- tolerance against non RFC-2821 compliant e-Mail servers;
- blocking of e-Mail messages with a spoofed senders e-Mail address;
- recipients e-Mail address verification with an authoritative e-Mail store in gateway mode;
- slow down of recipients e-Mail address brute force attacks in gateway mode.
Enhancements:
- Whitelisting by a PTR (reverse DNS) record was implemented.
- Whitelisting by an envelope recipient email address was implemented.
- The option to ignore tempfailed results of SAV was implemented.
- The option to refuse email messages from systems that dont accept the null reverse-path was implemented.
- Tempfail and fail results TTL settings were segregated.
- Progressive slowdown of brute force attacks on a recipients email address was implemented.

KmPg2 MPEG2 Encoder 1.96
KmPg2 is a user friendly MPEG2 encoding wizard that allows the user to create high quality DVD compatible MPEG2 streams. more>>
KmPg2 is a very simple to use MPEG2 encoding wizard that allows the user to create high quality DVD compatible MPEG2 streams, without requiring any technical knowledge.
Creating high quality MPEG2 streams involves a lot more than simply feeding the input video to mpeg2enc/transcode/mencoder/etc.
The input video needs to be carefully prepared by pulling it through a chain of stream processing tools like low-pass filters, color correction filters, static and dynamic chroma and luma noise filters, scalers, and so on.
This processing chain needs to be tuned in such a way that all irrelevant data (like noise) is removed before the video enters the encoder. KmPg2 uses the video processing / encoding tools from the MJPEGTools project to achieve this.
KmPg2 features a profiler that enables the user to interactively create custom pre-processing pipelines that are optimised for a specific type of video material. These preprocessing pipelines (profiles) can be stored and used with the actual encoding wizard.
For example, you could create a profile that is designed especially for restoring a single aging VHS tape, or you could create a profile tuned for your digital camcorder and re-use it for every new recording that needs to be encoded.
At this moment KmPg2 accepts only one format of input video: Raw Sony DV video streams. This is the video format that most people use nowadays for high quality video processing and editing. Support for using AVI files for input is expected in future versions.
Main features:
- Produces DVD compliant MPEG2 streams
- Seperate chroma/luma noise filtering
- Low-Pass filtering support
- Contrast/Brightness/Saturation correction
- White balance correction
- Special black-and-white mode
- Crop image to Widescreen (16:9) or Panavision (2.35:1)
- Output conforms to Rec.601 specifications
- Both constant bitrate and variable bitrate encoding
- Unsharp masking
- Supports progressive and interlaced source material
- Support for removing overscan area
- Provides feedback to user about average/peak bitrates
- Show output on screen while encoding
- Generate encoding shell scripts
- Generate quick preview-encodings of parts of source video

KBoard 0.9b
KBoard is a generic game interface for two player turn based board games. more>>
KBoard is a generic game interface for two player turn based board games, and currently supports a bunch of chess variants, connect four, reversi and chain reaction (and more will be added). Kboard also supports network chess play on ics servers, as well as game observation and examination.
We have implemented a quite powerful generic animation engine, and a highly customizable theme specification (based on lua), that can just load everything and create shadows (default theme is SVG, skulls theme too).
At the moment the released code is only based on Qt4, so it should be quite portable, but we will make use of Kde when available in future releases.
Generic game support:
Many board games can be easily implemented using the extensible KBoard infrastructure. So far, the following board games are implemented:
- Chess
- Crazyhouse
- Atomic
- Monster Chess (King and four pawns)
- Progressive Chess
- Reversi
- Connect Four
- Chain Reaction

rpng/rpng2/wpng are the demo programs that accompany OReillys PNG: The Definitive Guide.
rpng is a simple file viewer with the ability to set a background color when displaying transparent PNGs.
rpng2 is a progressive PNG viewer, designed to work like a web browser (though it contains no network code); it can generate a background image when displaying transparent PNGs.
wpng is a simple converter from NetPBM to PNG format; in most respects it is much more limited than pnmtopng, but it supports interactive entry of PNG text annotations and will generate noninterlaced PNGs on the fly (rather than buffering the entire image first like pnmtopng).
The viewers include simple front ends for both X and Win32; the converter is a command-line app that compiles on Unix, Windows, and probably other platforms.

HandBrake for Linux 0.9.1
open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter more>> Were chagrined to announce the public release of HandBrake 0.9.1. Why chagrined? Because 0.9.0 wasnt as stable as it should have been, something 0.9.1 rectifies.
This minor update squashes a number of glaring bugs. Most notably, HandBrake will no longer hang at the end of encoding MKV files with chapter markers. This means the Animation, Bedlam, Constant Quality Rate, Deux Six Quatre, Film, and Television presets are now usable.
Additional improvements:
Impressive performance enhancements
Significant interface prettification (Mac more than Win)
Color subtitles now show up in color
Changing dimensions in Picture Settings no longer causes a crash (Mac)
Forced subtitle support
More robust exception handling (Win)
Closing the main window no longer causes HandBrake to crash (Mac)
Using Slow deinterlacing no longer doubles the chapter count.
MPEG Stream support is now case-insensitive (.VOB as well as .vob, etc) and more compatible
No more error messages sent to standard out instead of standard error
Bigger buffer for the activity log (Mac)
Proper display of fading subtitles
On-completion options to shutdown, suspend, etc (Win)
Same as source FPS now works correctly when the end-credits of a progressive film are interlaced.
Add-to-queue fixed (Win)
Target size fixed for the umpteenth time (Mac)<<less

ImageInfo 1.9
ImageInfo is a free Java class to retrieve properties from image files. more>>
ImageInfo is a free Java class to retrieve properties from image files.
The following file formats are currently supported: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, PCX, IFF, RAS, PBM, PGM, PPM and PSD (read why TIFF is not included). ImageInfo can recognize these formats, and in addition determine image width, height and color depth (bits per pixel).
Also check out ffident, my file format (group) and MIME type identification library. It extracts less information than ImageInfo (it only recognizes the format, no metadata), but it supports more formats and new formats can be added by editing a text file. Similar to file(1) / magic(5).
Using ImageInfo from within a Java application or applet
The image file can be any InputStream object or an instance of a class implementing DataInput (like RandomAccessFile). Here is some sample code on how to use the class:
ImageInfo ii = new ImageInfo();
// in can be InputStream or RandomAccessFile (or DataInput)
ii.setInput(in);
/* if you want to know how many images there are in a file,
uncomment the following line; will slow down ImageInfo
with animated GIFs */
//ii.setDetermineImageNumber(true);
// check does the actual work, you wont get results before
// you have called it
if (!ii.check())
{
System.err.println("Not a supported image file format.");
}
else
{
System.out.println(
ii.getFormatName() + ", " +
ii.getMimeType() + ", " +
ii.getWidth() + " x " + ii.getHeight() + " pixels, " +
ii.getBitsPerPixel() + " bits per pixel, " +
ii.getNumberOfImages() + " image(s).");
// there are other properties, check out the API documentation
}
Using ImageInfo as a command line program
ImageInfo also has a main method that makes it a command line tool. Assuming that ImageInfo.class is in your classpath, giving the class to java with some file names as arguments will be sufficient. Here is an example call including output:
$ java ImageInfo test.jpg
test.jpg
File format: JPEG
MIME type: image/jpeg
Width (pixels): 1556
Height (pixels): 2048
Bits per pixel: 24

Number of images: 1
Physical width (dpi): 300
Physical height (dpi): 300
