CIP/Ethernet Library for Linux 0.0.7e

CIP/Ethernet Library for Linux 0.0.7e

CIP/Ethernet Library for Linux is the worlds premiere Linux-based software library for communicating with ControlLogix. more>>
CIP/Ethernet Library for Linux is the worlds premiere Linux-based software library for communicating with Allen Bradley ControlLogix Programmable Logic Controllers.

I have successfully completed negotiations with LSN of Birmingham Alabama to transfer the complete ownership of all things CELL related to them.

My motivations here are quite simple. I havent worked directly with a ControlLogix in the past 3 years as I am no longer in the Machine Tool industry at all. In fact, I seriously doubt that I will ever return to the machine tool industry - an industry not exactly known for its stability here in Michigan of late.

Anyhow, about LSN: they make cost-effective data logging / data historian products for a variety of platforms including Linux and Windows. They also use the CELL platform for their Allen Bradley based products. They have retained my services for continued support of the CELL library for the time being so there will be some continuity.

What I cant tell you is if any newer versions of the CELL library will remain under the GNU LGPL license. Obviously, any previously released version of CELL that was under the LGPL will remain under the LGPL - nothing can or will change that.

Versions going forward will be licensed at the sole discretion of LNS - not me.

I will shortly post a link to LNSs website page for CELL. They are the SOLE contact for ANY/ALL support needs for CELL.

FreeRADIUS 1.1.6

FreeRADIUS 1.1.6

FreeRADIUS is a feature-rich, high-performance RADIUS server. more>>
FreeRADIUS is the premiere open source RADIUS server. While detailed statistics are not available, we believe that FreeRADIUS is well within the top 5 RADIUS servers world-wide, in terms of the number of people who use it daily for authentication.
FreeRADIUS project scales from embedded systems with small amounts of memory, to systems with millions of users. It is fast, flexible, configurable, and supports more authentication protocols than many commercial servers.
The FreeRADIUS Server Project encompasses more than just a RADIUS server. The related software includes a PAM authentication module, and an Apache 1.3 and 2.0 authentication module. The server comes with a PHP-based web user administration tool, called dialupadmin.
The RADIUS server has more features and is more flexible than any other free software RADIUS server, and many commercial servers. Most commercial servers are distributed as a "base" system ($), and an "enhanced" version ($$) with more features. FreeRADIUS has all the features of a commercial "enhanced" server, without the associated cost.
In it simplest form, the server is similar to Livingstons 2.0 server. Many configuration files are similar, and the general operation of the server should be familiar to anyone who has used a variant of the Livingston server.
FreeRADIUS can be extended significantly from this simple form, however. There are many modules and configuration files which have no equivalent in older RADIUS servers. These new features permit FreeRADIUS to work within complex systems, and environments which require high performance.
To support the demanding requirements of a modern RADIUS server, FreeRADIUS features more than 50 vendor-specific dictionary files. It ships with support for LDAP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle databases. It supports EAP, with EAP-MD5, EAP-SIM, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP, and Cisco LEAP sub-types.
It supports proxying, with fail-over and load balancing. It has reached a stable 1.0 release, with incremental improvements being added and tested daily. In short, it is a powerful, fast, and complex RADIUS server which is compatible with the latest network protocols and practices, and is well suited for deployment in any size network.
Enhancements:
- A few dictionaries have been added.
- Several bugs have been fixed, including some double frees that were found in 1.1.5.
- Nearly 30 bugs found by Coverity were also fixed, including a memory leak in the EAP-TTLS code.

XMediaGrabber - XMediaGrabber is a large recording suite for Dreambox, DBox 2 and VDR compatible receivers/PCs.

XMediaGrabber runs os independent on Windows, Linux and MacOS. Only Java 5 runtime has to be installed.

Timer programming is the main focus of this program. It is possible to create repeating timers, system timers e.g. to shutdown the pc/box.

This timers can be created from different sources e.g. Premiere MovieGuide, TVBrowser, TVGenial or

over the internet with Klack and the web interface of XMediaGrabber. XMediaGrabber has an intelligent timer administration which checks

for doubled entries or overlapping. Also timer can be created automatically from an indivudal notice list.

XMediaGrabber supports simultaneously recording from multiple receivers.

After a finished recording, several post processing possibilities are available (manual oder automatically). So it is possible to convert the

recorded data to DVD structure which can be burned with any DVD Burning application.

An integrated FTP-Client allows to transfer recordings from external storages to pc and convert directly.

XMediaGrabber has a plugin interface. Other features can be installed easily. Currently following plugins exist:

* Premiere Movieguide - Creating timers out of this guide

* Movielist Plugin - Administration of movies

* SerieGuide - Administration of TV series

HTML Purifier 2.1.1

HTML Purifier 2.1.1

HTML Purifier is the premiere PHP solution for all your HTML filtering needs. more>>
HTML Purifier project is the premiere PHP solution for all your HTML filtering needs. Tired of forcing users to use BBCode or some other obscure custom markup language due to the current landscape of deficient or hole-ridden HTML filterers? Look no further: HTMLPurifier will not only remove all malicious code (the stuff of XSS), it will also make sure the HTML is standards compliant.
There are a number of ad hoc HTML filtering solutions out there on the web (some examples including PEARs HTML_Safe, kses and SafeHtmlChecker.class.php) that claim to filter HTML properly, preventing malicious JavaScript and layout breaking HTML from getting through the parser. None of them, however, demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the DTD that defines HTML or the caveats of HTML that cannot be expressed by a DTD.
Configurable filters (such as kses or PHPs built-in striptags() function) have trouble validating the contents of attributes and can be subject to security attacks due to poor configuration. Other filters take the naive approach of blacklisting known threats and tags, failing to account for the introduction of new technologies, new tags, new attributes or quirky browser behavior.
However, HTML Purifier takes a different approach, one that doesnt use specification-ignorant regexes or narrow blacklists. HTML Purifier will decompose the whole document into tokens, and rigorously process the tokens by: removing non-whitelisted elements, transforming bad practice tags like font into span, properly checking the nesting of tags and their children and validating all attributes according to their RFCs.
To my knowledge, there is nothing like this on the web yet. Not even MediaWiki, which allows an amazingly diverse mix of HTML and wikitext in its documents, gets all the nesting quirks right. Existing solutions hope that no JavaScript will slip through, but either do not attempt to ensure that the resulting output is valid XHTML or send the HTML through a draconic XML parser (and yet still get the nesting wrong: SafeHtmlChecker.class.php does not prevent a tags from being nested within each other).
Enhancements:
- This version amends a few bugs in some of newly introduced features for 2.1, namely running the standalone download version in PHP4 and %URI.MakeAbsolute.

Multi-Simulation Interface 0.14.0

Multi-Simulation Interface 0.14.0

Multi-Simulator Interface, in shrot MSI, is a simulation interconnection engine. more>>
Multi-Simulator Interface, in shrot MSI, is a simulation interconnection engine. In other words it is a program that connects simulations together by synchronizing their clocks and data. Multi-Simulation Interface serves the same purpose as HLA and supports most of HLAs functionality (and more).
The MSI is an HLA alternative. The major motivating factors in the design of the MSI are speed, interoperability, and ease of use.
The MSI was written as a cutting edge distributed simulation component to connect multiple instances of ATLs premiere simulation software, CSIM, and it can be used to interface any compatible simulations.
How does the MSI compare to HLA?
The MSI was originally created to be just a light weight HLA RTI. However, as it was written, limitations in HLA were discovered. The MSI is an improvement on both the design and implementation of HLA. Some highlights include:
A 1,536 to 1 reduction in size over the publicly available (until late 2002) HLA RTI.
At least one order of magnitude of bandwidth consumption less than the publicly available (until late 2002) HLA RTI.
The ability to subscribe to an object name in addition to a type.
Time synchronization that allows for proper causality when used with discrete event simulators.
Support for systems-of-systems (SoS) and hierarchically organized simulations.
Availability for many platforms.
MSI Concept - A Synchronized Data Broker
The concept behind MSI is the synchronized data broker. There are many connected software systems that posses state data that changes over the life of that system. In the case where these systems need to exchange this changing data with other systems and the other systems will exhibit the effects of this data on their own state, the synchronization of this data may need to be managed.
Historically the management of this data has been as simple as tagging it with the time of its release. If there is any conflict in the data the most recent version of the data is used. If the data is late an extrapolation can potentially be used. In SQL relational databases transactions and locking are used to ensure data integrity. Most data brokering services offer little or no sychronization, only delivery.
MSI Setup and Use
The MSI uses a XML stream through a direct socket connection for communications. This enables the MSI to be used from any programming language that can use sockets (C, C++, Java, Ada, Lisp, Perl, etc.). Also, the MSI was written with cross-platform libraries that make it portable to all the major OS platforms (Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, IRIX, HPUX, etc.).
The MSI is a single executable file and is distributed with example code for the simulator/federate side interface.
MSI Time Synchronization
The MSI time synchronizer can mix unconstrained with time constrained simulations. Each constrained simulation reports the time of the next event that will occur in that simulation/federate. This time may be artificially inflated to cause loose synchronization (less overhead but less guarantee of accuracy). The simulations/federates will advance to the announced time.
MSI Data Synchronization
The MSI implements a publish/subscribe data broker. The MSI is presently not validating, therefore it does not require a separate data format specification (like the HLA FOM). When data format validation is implemented, it will be an optional feature and not written in Lisp. This greatly reduces MSIs setup time. Also, not being locked to a predetermined data format allows for dynamic data types.
There are five commands associated with the MSI data broker: publish, subscribe, update, unsubscribe, destroy (destroy is not implemented yet). Simulations/federates may subscribe to object names in addition to object types. This allows simulations to subscribe to specific objects of a type without needing to receive updates of all objects of that type. The update command is both an incoming and outgoing command. When a simulation/federate receives an update command, it is expected to reflect the new values of that object.
The MSI has a very flexible publish and subscribe system. A federate may subscribe to an object type or an object name. In addition a federate may specify particular attributes of an object or object type. For example, if an object has attributes name, x, y, and z, a federate that only considers two dimensions may choose to subscribe only to name, x, and y.
The MSI also supports systems of systems and object hierarchy in simulations. A publishing federate may designate a parent object. Subscribers may then subscribe to the objects children.
MSI Messaging
The MSI allows simulations/federates to send messages (interactions in HLA) to each other. These messages can contain multiple attributes and be multicast to a specific group of simulations.
Recently Added Features
Removed external library dependencies to improve the portability and fragility of the MSI.
Added a better client library.
Improved documentation.
Enhancements:
- An XML parsing bug in the utilities library was fixed.
- The socket library was enhanced with more protocols, Win32 tricks, and the ability to key off of addresses as well as names.
- The --wait-for command line argument was added.
- Several internal bugs were fixed.
- More of the client library and the CSIM interface were flushed out.
- All standard functionality was tested.

The following output formats are supported:

YUV into single files (one per frame)
YUV to stdout for direct input to mpeg_encode
BMP into single truecolor files (one per frame)

The following audio output formats are supported:

PCM raw audio data
WAV audio data with WAVE header

vi2yuv is known to work with the following hardware and software:

Intel based hardware with 32 bit compiler (LSB byte order is expected)

Videocards:
FAST FPS60
FAST Movie Machine II with MJPEG extention (should work)
FAST AV Master
MIRO DC10/DC20/DC30
Matrox Rainbow Runner Studio
AVIs created with the FAST FPS60 and edited with Adobe Premiere LE 4.0.
Uncompressed 16, 24 and 32 bit AVIs created with Adobe Premiere LE 4.0.
YVU9 AVIs created with Adobe Premiere LE 4.0.
Y41P AVIs recorded with a Bt848 card (e.g. Hauppauge WinTV PCI)

Software:
Linux 1.2.13 or 2.0.33
Berkeley MPEG encoder Version 1.5b
mpeg2encode Version 1.1a
Version 3.9t of musicin
MPLEX 1.1

mpeg2encode does also work under DOS if compiled with DJGPP (tested with
version 2.5.7). It should also work with every 32 bit compiler (e.g. emx under OS/2).

avi2yuv will only work with mpeg_encode if the pipe is 8 bit clean (depends
on the compiler and the OS). It should work under DOS if compiled with DJGPP
but youll need a lot of disk space as the output of avi2yuv will be temporarely saved to disk as DOS isnt a multitasking OS (not tested).

Psi 0.10 / 0.11 RC2

Psi 0.10 / 0.11 RC2

Psi is a program for connecting to the Jabber messaging network. more>>
Psi is the truly open messaging application.
Psi is the premiere Instant Messaging application designed for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and GNU/Linux. Built upon an open protocol named Jabber, Psi is a fast and lightweight messaging client that utilises the best in open source technologies.
The goal of the Psi project is to create a powerful, yet easy-to-use Jabber/XMPP client that tries to strictly adhere to the XMPP drafts.and Jabber JEPs. This means that in most cases, Psi will not implement a feature unless there is an accepted standard for it in the Jabber community. Doing so ensures that Psi will be compatible, stable, and predictable, both from an end-user and developer standpoint.
This does not mean that Psi will never have "cool new features". The dev team and community are power-users who look to Psi to keep up with the times. We always want to hear what the users of Psi would like, and if a feature that the dev team wishes to implement does not have an accepted standard, or would diverge from an existing one, we can work together to see the standards changed to accomodate everyone.
Perhaps you have been considering Jabber, but dont want to abandon your friends? Jabber technologies are highly extensible, so Psi is able to interoperate with other, proprietory messaging systems such as AOLs ICQ and Microsofts Messenger. You can keep in contact with your friends, regardless of whether they use AIM, ICQ, MSNM or YahooM. Its even possible to use Internet Relay Chat! *
Unlike other IM clients, Psi is small, fast and responsive. It uses a graphical toolkit called Qt, which takes on the appearance of whichever operating system you run it on. For this reason, Psi doesnt use skins. Wed rather it blend with your desktop like any other application.
Psi has full support for Unicode. Unicode allows Psi to send and receive messages in other languages, even ones that arent based upon the English letterset. In fact, you are able to use Psi in your choice of eight different languages, with more on the way!
Cross-platform compatibility is important to the Psi development team; we believe that you should be able to use whichever operating system you wish. In keeping with this belief, we have a version for each of the three major OSs. The images on this page show Psi running on Microsoft Windows XP, Apple MacOS X and GNU/Linux/KDE3.
Whats New in 0.10 Stable Release:
- The default text input line in the chat dialogs starts at one line tall, and grows as necessary.
- The Roster can now be automatically resized to fit all contacts.
- The menu bar is now available on the roster.
- Tabbed chat windows were implemented.
- On Windows and Mac OS X, selected text may be automatically copied to the clipboard.
- Mac OS X builds now enjoy Growl(.info) support.
- Photos are now available in the VCard dialog.
- Roster and chat dialog now support transparency.
- GPG passphrases are now cached during the entire Psi session.
