if you are running NetBSD or FreeBSD edit the makefile you will see:
ifeq ($(os),openbsd)
CFLAGS_OS = -DHAVE_SOCKADDR_SA_LEN -DHAVE_DAEMON -DHAVE_SOCKLEN_T -DHAVE_BROKEN_RECVDSTADDR
change it to
ifeq ($(os),bsd)
CFLAGS_OS = -DHAVE_SOCKADDR_SA_LEN -DHAVE_DAEMON -DHAVE_SOCKLEN_T

and use make os=bsd

You can start it with something like: build/mDNSResponderPosix -n "`hostname`" -t _whamb._tcp. -p 7603 -d

KDE Internet share wizard is a Kommnder script that can help you share your internet connection over LAN. more>>
KDE Internet share wizard is a Kommander script that can help you share your internet connection over LAN.
Overview:
I was on a LAN and I needed to share my internet connection because we didnt have any router.
I found this to be quite difficult, but after some searching on internet I found a very good explanation for making this work.
Now, Ive made a WindowsXP like internet connection sharing guide for all who wants to share their internet connection easy and fast.
Usage:
copy the tar.gz file contents into /usr/bin and then run:
kdeinternetshare.sh - English
For all those who are unsure how to use the guide, it should be good to stick to the default settings.
This is only a quite simple guide so suggestions and improvments are welcome.
System requirements:
- Kommander

Postal 0.67

Postal 0.67

Postal is a SMTP and POP benchmark suite. more>>
Postal suite currently consists of two programs, Postal and Rabid. Postal (the mad postman) is a program that will deliver mail as fast as possible via the SMTP protocol to test mail server performance.
Rabid (the mad Biff) will eat mail via the POP protocol as fast as possible and measure POP server performance. All messages sent via Postal have MD5 checksums appended, and Rabid will check the MD5 to ensure that the messages are not being corrupted.
It works by taking a list of user names and applying random transformations to them to get the FROM and TO addresses, this is because if each email address takes 30 bytes of storage then 1,000,000 accounts would take 30M of RAM. 3,000,000 accounts would take 90M of RAM which would be more than the memory in my test machine (this would cause thrashing and make the benchmark invalid), and it would take ages to load all that data from the hard drive. Using 100,000 accounts and applying a transformation to map them to 30M accounts is a much more efficient use of resources.
When sending the mail the subject and body will be random data. A header field X-Postal will be used so that procmail can easily filter out such email just in case you accidentally put your own email address as one of the test addresses. ;)
For Debian the best thing to do is to do "apt-get install postal", if you dont want to use the version supplied with your version of Debian you can build a Debian package in the usual manner.
Change to the directory containing the unpacked source and use the command:
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -tc -us
That will create a .deb in the parent directory.
For Red Hat etc there is a portslave.spec file to allow for building with
the "rpm -b" command.
For Solaris use the command "make -C sun" to build a package in /var/spool/pkg
(make sure you have write access to that directory).
For other Unix setup "./configure ; make install" should do an install.
Enhancements:
- The license was changed to GPLv3.

Hybrid Share 1.2.0

Hybrid Share 1.2.0

Hybrid Share is a User Friendly Application for Linux, Mac and Windows users, that allow you to Share file. more>>
Hybrid Share is a User Friendly Application for Linux, Mac and Windows users, that allow you to Share file (and Talk) instantly with your friends...

What is Hybrid Share ?

Hybrid Share is a simple (User Friendly) Mono C#/Gtk# Application that allow Mac, Windows and Linux Users To Share Files. The Application is extensible via Plugins, so you can Talk with connected people, check your mailbox or other things that plugins could do.

What do you use if you have to share files with your friends ?

E-Mail or Instant Messaging are the first possible solution, but the E-Mail Size block and the slowing of the IM make this channels bad to share files. The NFS (Network File System) or other system like this, works only between similar system or are a little bit difficoult to configure, the same for ftp server.

So The Solution is Hybrid Share that is Portable and Easy to Use, It isnt the Best Application in The World, but it does a useful work.

What is the Difference with a Normal P2P ?

Hybrid Share has a core of P2P but is more like a traditional IM (Instant Messenger), like GTalk, MSN, Gaim, Adium and so on.... No Network Configuration is needed, Youve only to add your "buddies" (like an IM) and Drag File Into their folders...

Automated Argument Helper 1.2.2

Automated Argument Helper 1.2.2

Aargh is a code generator, written in C++ and licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). more>>
Aargh is a code generator, written in C++ and licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). It generates C++ code to parse a command line, using the getopt() facility available in UNIX and UNIX-like environments.
Automated Argument Helper project supports command-line options with integer arguments, string arguments, and no arguments. The generated code is commented and carefully indented for readability.
Its nice to have lots of command line options, but its a real pain to code for them.
Not that its difficult. Its just tedious, time-consuming, error prone, and no fun. I used to wince at the thought of adding command line options.
Not any more. All I have to do is define the options I want in a small XML file, and run it through aargh. Instantly I have C++ source code that I can compile and link into my program.
If I need to add another option, or otherwise change the rules, I can edit the XML and regenerate the code. No muss, no fuss. Now I can spend more time on the interesting parts of the project.
To use aargh, write an XML file to describe the options you want. When aargh reads the file, it generates two C++ files.
One file is a header that declares a class to represent the options. By default this class is named "Opts," but you can specify a different name. The other file is the implementation of Opts, or whatever you decide to call it. The Opts class provides member functions to parse the command line and return the results.
In your own code, declare an instance of Opts and call Opts::get() to parse the command line, passing it the argc and argv arguments from main(). Opts::get() returns zero if the command line follows the rules that you have outlined in the XML file, or non-zero otherwise. If the parsing is successful, the Opts object stores the results and makes them available to your program by a series of accessor functions.
Main features:
- You can enforce upper and/or lower limits on the number of non-option arguments.
- You can distinguish between options that take arguments and those that dont.
- You can specify that an option is required.
- You can require that the argument to an option be a non-negative integer.
- For an integer argument you can enforce upper and/or lower limits.
- For a string argument you can enforce upper and/or lower limits on the string length.
- For a string argument you can call a function of your own to validate the argument.
- You can allow multiple occurrences of the same option. In that case the generated code builds an STL vector to hold the arguments. By default the generated software allows only one occurrence of any given option.
Enhancements:
- You can now specify the location of the generated header file independently of its name.
- This feature may make it easier to incorporate aargh into complex build environments.

gnome-user-share 0.11

gnome-user-share 0.11

gnome-user-share binds together various free software projects to bring easy to use user-level file sharing. more>>
gnome-user-share is a small package that binds together various free software projects to bring easy to use user-level file sharing to the masses.

gnome-user-share is meant to run in the background when the user is logged in, and when file sharing is enabled a webdav server is started that shares the $HOME/Public folder. The share is then published to all computers on the local network using mDNS/rendezvous, so that it shows up in the Network location in Gnome.

The dav server used is apache, so you need that installed. Howl is used for mDNS support, so you need to have that installed and mDNSResolver running.
