IBM 3270 Terminal Applications suite consists of seven applications.
x3270 is an IBM 3270 terminal emulator for the X Window System and Windows. The project runs on most Unix-like operating systems -- e.g., Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris and Cygwin. It also runs natively on Windows.
x3270 runs over a TELNET connection, emulating either an IBM 3279 (color) or 3278 (monochrome). It supports:
- The full TN3270E protocol
- SSL/TLS (via the OpenSSL library) for encrypted sessions
- APL2 characters
- Non-English character sets, including Russian, Turkish, Hebrew and DBCS Chinese and Japanese
- IND$FILE file transfer
- NVT mode (emulating a color xterm)
- A pop-up keypad for 3270-specific keys
- A scrollbar
- Printer session integration
- Extensive debugging and scripting facilities
It does not yet support graphics. x3270 is distributed as source code, and can be used for free.

- wc3270 is the Windows console version of c3270

Apache Portals is a collaborative software development project dedicated to providing robust, full-featured, commercial-quality, and freely available Portal related software on a wide variety of platforms and programming languages.

This project is managed in cooperation with various individuals worldwide (both independent and company-affiliated experts), who use the Internet to communicate, plan, and develop Portal software and related documentation.

Modern software is complex and expensive, which has motivated many companies to invest in enterprise portals as a mechanism by which they can manage information in a cohesive and structured fashion.

Portals offer many advantages over other software applications. First, they provide a single point of entry for employees, partners, and customers. Second, portals can access Web services transparently from any device in virtually any location. Third, portals are highly flexible; they can exist in the form of B2E intra-nets, B2B extra-nets, or B2C inter-nets. Fourth, portals can be combined to form a portal network that can span a companys entire enterprise system, allowing for access both inside and outside the firewall.

Portals have many advantages, which is why they have become the de facto standard for Web application delivery. In fact, analysts have predicted that portals will become the next generation for the desktop environment.

Portals distinguish themselves from other software systems because they provide the ability to integrate disparate systems and leverage the functionality provided by those systems. As such, they are not mutually exclusive, and do not force you into an either-or decision vis-a-vis existing software systems. DCP-Portal is a content management system with advanced features like Web-based update, link, file, member management, poll, calendar, etc.

GRIDportal is a Web-based application portal that acts as a frontend to GRID computing. GRIDportals aim is to make common GRID applications like Abaqus, Matlab, or BLAST more accessible to the user.

Use of GRIDportal does not require any knowledge of Unix nor GRID computing whatsoever. All the user needs to know is how to use the given application, so the step from desktop computing to GRID computing should thus become a much smaller one than it otherwise would be.

GRIDportal, written in Python and based on Webware for Python, is meant to be modular, which allows quick development of plugins for new applications.

GRIDportal is built on top of NorduGrid/ARC middleware and depends on the middleware to function. This relationship between GRIDportal and NorduGrid/ARC also allows a user to access the entire NorduGrid network through GRIDportal (provided the user has the necessary credentials), thus making GRIDportal a gateway to a whole range of different GRID sites.

GRIDportal was born from Jonas Lindemanns LUNARC Application Portal and is distributed under the GPL licence.

The Scout Portal Toolkit (SPT) is a turnkey software package that allows groups or organizations who have collections of knowledge or resources they want to share via the Web to put that collection online without a big investment in technical resources.
