Get YouTube Video 1.3c

Get YouTube Video 1.3c

Get YouTube Video is a service menu for KDE. more>>
Get YouTube Video is a service menu for KDE.

Usage:
Right-click onto a link to a YouTube video or at the background of the YouTube site showing the video and choose action -> Download YouTube Video -> ...

Install:
cd ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/
tar xvzf /path/to/youtube-servicemenu.tar.gz

I made some modifications to the YouTube Service Menu. It didnt work for me, so I looked at the source. I added a differnent method to guess the video_id and I added additional parameters to the query string to download the video.

The query-string trick is:
video_id is a part of the site-url, in which the video is embedded:

video_ids = set(re.findall(www.youtube.com/v/([-A-Za-z0-9_]+), data))

or

m = re.search(video_id=(?P [-A-Za-z0-9_]+), data)

or

m = re.search(v=(?P [-A-Za-z0-9_]+), data)

Then I do:

url = "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=%s" % video_id

Now url points to a site in which the video will be embedded, so I can apply following regular expression to its contens:

m = re.search(watch_fullscreen?(?P .*?)&fs=1&title=" + "(?P

b. 1.4.3

b. 1.4.3

b. is a Web-based bookmark manager. more>>
b. is a Web-based manager for Web bookmarks. Bookmarks are stored in an XML file. Operations on the data are done with Perl scripts.
Main features:
Collaborative bookmarks
- A new and powerful feature is the ability to share bookmarks. These shared bookmarks may be publicly viewed by all, while a certain set of users have the ability to add or change them. These users can also add comments to the shared bookmarks, as in a bulletin-board. The display of the shared bookmarks is highly configurable: one can show extra information associated with a bookmark, such as its popularity, when it was last visited, when it was added, etc. With these new features, b. becomes a collaborative space for sharing discoveries of the Web.
- Old-style b. functionality is not lost however: one can still maintain a set of private bookmarks just as before. Whats new is the option to exchange bookmarks between the private and shared sets.
Accessible from any Web browser
- The main advantage for storing your bookmarks on the Web is to have them accessible from any Web browser. b. produces XHTML 1.0 code, doesnt use any Javascript, and is best viewed with a CSS1-compliant browser such as Netscape 6+/Mozilla, Internet Explorer 5+, and Opera 5+.
Bookmark data stored in XML format
- XML has quickly become an acknowledged standard for the management of data transmitted over the Internet. Its foundation as a markup language like HTML gives it a wide base of users, and its precept of separating data from its display provides XML versatility for the many possible uses of the data.
- Im using a DTD for collaborative bookmarks called XBEL-collab. Its a slight modification of the XBEL DTD for bookmarks >>, to allow for features like comments and hit counts. The original XBEL DTD was created by python.org.
Customizable
- In a themes/ subdirectory, one can determine the look of b. with CSS stylesheets, custom graphics, and HTML templates. There are more customization options with this new release.
Multi-user
- b. supports multi-user environments. Using basic Web server user authentication (i.e. by password-protecting the b./ directory), only certain users can have access to b.. Each user has his/her own bookmarks and optionally can have his/her own theme, welcome message, etc.
Version restrictions:
Must close browser to log off
- This is a limitation of basic HTTP user authentication: once you have access to a directory, you always have access until your browser session has ended.
Modify bookmarks from one machine at a time
- Problems can result if one attempts to modify bookmarks from two different machines at the same time. (Viewing and accessing the data from more than one machine is fine.) Although a backup of the XML file is written every time it is modified, something more secure could be implemented.

Synonym 0.4.3

Synonym 0.4.3

Synonym that allows a company to easily archive all email messages going in and out. more>>
Synonym that allows a company to easily archive all email messages going in and out. It can copy mail messages, delete, reject or add a text and/or html signature based on a XML based configuration file listing regular expression rules.

An archive containing all the messages that passed through a companys MTA ensures no messages are lost.

Even when using public folders with read-only access, some messages might not contain the public folder address in the recipients list so when a user deletes a message that email might be lost forever.

A searchable archive of all the talks between a company and the client is a very useful tool allowing incident tracking for people that were not directly involved in the email flow.

VisiScript 0.4.3

VisiScript 0.4.3

VisiScript is a simple graphical frontend for scripting languages like minscript, Python,Ruby, Perl, Tcl, Lisp/Scheme. more>>
VisiScript is a simple graphical frontend for scripting languages like minscript, Python,Ruby, Tcl, Perl, Lisp/Scheme or others.
VisiScript runs on the Qtopia desktop environment of the Zaurus and on all platforms supporting Qt 3.x.
With this program you can read, modify, save and execute script files and select different script languages. For the execution of the scripts the progam uses available script interpreters.
Since version 0.3.0 of VisiScript the QScintilla library is used as the editor-widget, this means that VisiScript is now a very comfortable programming editor with syntax highlighting and many other features.
To run a script VisiScript starts the actual selected script interpreter in an external process with the (temporary) script file. The output of this external process will be displayed in a text field below the script text field.
You have to install at least one additional script interpreter on the zaurus to use this program in an appropriate way. Here is a (not complete) list of available script languages for the Zaurus:
- minscript (a Java/C++ like script language)
- Python
- Ruby
- Perl
- Tcl
- Lush (a Lisp interpreter)/Scheme48
- Chicken

filewatcher 2.4.3

filewatcher 2.4.3

filewatcher is a system administration tool designed to archive changes to important system files. more>>
filewatcher is a system administration tool designed to archive changes to important system files (or any interesting file) and to send detailed reports about changes to one or more e-mail addresses when they are detected.
filewatcher is of great use in multiple administrator environments where each administrator will benefit from knowing what changes were made by others shortly after they were made.
While filewatcher wont report who made a particular change (unless the change itself includes that information), the fact that multiple eyes see every change makes for a much more proactive environment.
And, if an invalid change is made, correcting or rolling back to the previous version is trivial.
filewatcher is typically run from cron at whatever frequency you feel comfortable with the scheduling frequency determined the mimimum time that will elapse before filewatcher can detect a change.
When it runs, filewatcher loads its configuration file and determines which files need to be checked based on their defined scan interval.
If a change has previously been detected for a particular file, that file will not be checked again until its scan interval timer has expired.
Enhancements:
- A bug in function references was fixed.
- An RPM spec file and a sample configuration for inclusion with an RPM were added.

Excalibur 4.3

Excalibur 4.3

Excalibur is an open source software project of The Apache Software Foundation. more>>
Excalibur is an open source software project of The Apache Software Foundation. Our primary product is a lightweight, embeddable Inversion of Control container named Fortress that is written in java.

Inversion of control, also known as the hollywood principle ("dont call us, well call you"), is a simple but powerful concept. The idea is that we dont "wire up" all the pieces that make up an application (the "components") by writing lots of this-component-uses-that-one-like-so code, nor do we use some kind of lookup directory (like JNDI, for example) where each component decides what components to interact with itself. Instead, we instruct a smart piece of software, the container, to tell the components how to interact.

Fortress (and also its predecessor, "ECM") is such a container. It is lightweight, by which we mean that it doesnt need a lot of resources, take a lot of disk or memory, or impose all sorts of demands on its environment. Fortress is also embeddable, by which we mean that you can use fortress inside just about every java environment. More concretely, you can use it as the basis of a large standalone development platform (like the Keel project), at the core of a servlet-based web application (like Cocoon) or even as the basis of a GUI application (like GuiApp).

Fortress knows how to manage components that have been developed using a rigid lifecycle contract called Avalon-Framework. In the next upcoming release, fortress will also be able to manage ordinary javabeans, and support for other kinds of Inversion of Control are planned.

Besides providing fortress, excalibur also provides a small library of very useful components. We also distribute some of the libraries used to build fortress (and some other containers) seperately. This selection of libraries is called containerkit.

So why is excalibur an interesting project?

Heres a few partial answers.

good code. Code that comes from the mature avalon project (everything that used to be branded as "Avalon Excalibur" and "Avalon Fortress"). This includes two lightweight Inversion of Control containers. One of these powers, among other things, Cocoon. The other ("fortress") is the basis of projects like Keel. Excalibur also includes powerful and mature reusable "components" and "libraries", handling tasks ranging from thread management to component pooling to (URI-and-similar-) source resolving.

smart developers. Most of these people are or have been active in the avalon project in various roles. Several of them are apache members. Together they have loads and loads experience under their belts related to inversion of control development. In fact, Im confident to say this list includes some of the biggest experts on inversion-of-control-style container development.

exciting community. Several open source and commercial projects (both at apache and elsewhere) depend on and contribute to the excalibur project. A strong team of enthousiastic developers (with strong ties to several other projects in the same problem domain) has various big and small plans with excalibur. One of the leading open source organisations in the world, The Apache Software Foundation, is hosting the project, providing insight, advice, infrastructure, legal backing, a time- and battle-proven development process, and much more.
