librsync 0.9.7
librsync is a library for generating network deltas. more>>
librsync is a free software library that implements the rsync remote-delta algorithm. This algorithm allows efficient remote updates of a file, without requiring the old and new versions to both be present at the sending end.
The library uses a "streaming" design similar to that of zlib with the aim of allowing it to be embedded into many different applications.
librsync is currently pre-1.0, with most important functionality working.
librsync is not wire-compatible with rsync 2.x, and is not likely to be in the future.
This is a new codebase, designed to allow a fresh start on the problem and a cleaner design. It may be used in a future version of rsync or a successor project. Early steps towards that are visible in Waynes rZync prototype, and Martins superlifter design.
The librsync project was created by Martin Pool and is now being enhanced and finished by the folks you can find on the project page.
The librsync algorithm is based on the well-known and trustworthy rsync software by Andrew Tridgell.

bpkg 0.5
bpkg is a utility that tries to simplify the process of trying out new programs from source. more>>
bpkg project is a utility that tries to simplify the process of trying out new programs from source.
bpkg will download, extract, configure, compile, install, generate a package in your systems native format, and finally integrate that package into your systems packaging system so that you can remove it cleanly.
It has auto-detection for Arch Linux, Slackware, Red Hat, Gentoo and SuSE (though not all packaging back-ends are complete).
bpkg is not intended as a replacement for normal packaging utilities.
NOTE: bpkg is NOT heavily tested and could do bad things to your system. Use at your own risk.
Installation:
If all goes well, all you have to do to install bpkg is type:
# make
# make install
bpkg should auto-detect your packaging system and generate a package for itself.
You can also use make DESTDIR=/tmp/pkg install to install to a package root. If auto-packaging fails you can use make install-raw to do a normal unmanaged installation.
Enhancements:
- The build section was refactored so that its cleaner.
- Self-packaging was fixed so it should actually work if you dont already have installwatch installed.
- The --build-with option was added.
- By using --skip-build and --install-with, bpkg can now be used as a substitute for checkinstall.

Extended Universal Resource Library 0.2
Extended Universal Resource Library is a pure Java library for cleaner, more flexible file access in Java. more>>
Extended Universal Resource Library is a pure Java library for cleaner, more flexible file access in Java.
How data is stored is completely transparent to the client, since the library is meant to replace java.io.File.
It provides implementations for handling local files, Jar/Zip archives, and XML documents. (Implementations for CVS and FTP are available seperately.) Other storage providers can be written and plugged in.
It also provides a merged filesystem implementation that allows multiple hierarchies to appear as one and to override each other in a controlled way. Other features include notification of changes to files, and support for attaching (dynamically updatable) actions to file objects.
Filesystems are an abstraction on top of java.io.File (in the case of local files), that provide a number of useful things:
- File storage is completely abstracted - third parties can create support for access to file-like objects stored in an arbitrary manner, such as in a database, or in a version control system.
- Built-in support for ZIP/JAR archives and XML-based filesystems and the ability to transparently use other filesystems supported by NetBeans (such as the FTP filesystem) by adding the necessary classes
- Supports listening for change events if a file is externally modified
- Ability to add arbitrary "status" data to a file object and be notified of changes on it
- Support for actions on file objects, allowing you to define what actions are possible on a given file (and dynamically update these), and then expose those actions through your user interface.

THC-Amap 5.2
THC-Amap is a next-generation tool for assistingnetwork penetration testing. more>>
THC-Amap is a next-generation tool for assistingnetwork penetration testing. It performs fast and reliable application protocol detection, independant on the TCP/UDP port they are being bound to.
THC-Amap is a next-generation scanning tool for pentesters. It attempts to identify applications even if they are running on a different port than normal.
It also identifies non-ascii based applications. This is achieved by sending trigger packets, and looking up the responses in a list of response strings.
Currently there are two tools for this purpose: amap (you are looking at it), and nmap. Both have their strength and weaknesses, as they deploy different techniques. We recommend to use both tools for reliabe identification.
This tool is for legal purposes only!
If this tool is used as part of a commercial service (e.g. pentest), name, version and web address of this tool must be mentioned in the report.
If this tool is incorporated into a commercial tool (means: it costs money, has license costs or upgrade fees, etc.) or called by it, the name, version and web address of this tool must be mentioned in the report output of the tool. Addtionally, a commercial version, key file, etc. must be made available to the authors free of charge.
Enhancements:
- Included patch from ka0ttic AT gentoo.org for cleaner gcc compile
- Added SSL_Pending() to prevent rare locking on SSL ports, thanks to michel(at)arboi.fr.eu.org for reporting
- Added lots of fingerprints, most from Johnny Cyberpunk / THC -THANKS!

dm-crypt 0.1
dm-crypt is a device-mapper crypto target. more>>
dm-crypt is a device-mapper crypto target.
Device-mapper is a new infrastructure in the Linux 2.6 kernel that provides a generic way to create virtual layers of block devices that can do different things on top of real block devices like striping, concatenation, mirroring, snapshotting, etc... The device-mapper is used by the LVM2 and EVMS 2.x tools.
dm-crypt is such a device-mapper target that provides transparent encryption of block devices using the new Linux 2.6 cryptoapi. The user can basically specify one of the symmetric ciphers, a key (of any allowed size), an iv generation mode and then he can create a new block device in /dev. Writes to this device will be encrypted and reads decrypted. You can mount your filesystem on it as usual. But without the key you cant access your data.
It does basically the same as cryptoloop only that its a much cleaner code and better suits the need of a block device and has a more flexible configuration interface. The on-disk format is also compatible. In the future you will be able to specify other iv generation modes for enhanced security (youll have to reencrypt your filesystem though).
There is support for dm-crypt in the latest official kernel 2.6.4 which you can find on kernel.org. Please use the mirrors for downloads.
There is a HIGHMEM cryptoapi bug in kernels before 2.6.4-rc2, please upgrade if you were using such a kernel.
