BottomFeeder is a news aggregator client for RSS and Atom feeds, written in VisualWorks Smalltalk. BottomFeeder runs on x86 Linux (also FreeBSD), PowerPC linux, Sparc Linux, Windows (98/ME/NT/2000/XP), Mac OS8/9, Mac OS X, AIX, SGI Irix, Compaq UNIX, HP-UX, and Solaris.

Enhancements:

Pipebench shows the current throughput and amount of data going through a pipe. It can be used to show the progress of a large md5sum process: cat bigfile | pipebench | md5sum.

Pipebench measures the speed of a pipe, by sitting in the middle passing the data along to the next process. Works on at least Linux, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Solaris and x86, Alpha, HPPA, Sparc and Sparc64.

Compiling

Just type make to compile.

Type make install to have pipebench be installed in /usr/local/bin

Aasm is an advanced assembler designed to support several target architectures. It has been designed to be easily extended and, should be considered as a good alternative to monolithic assembler development for each new target CPUs and binary file formats.

Aasm should make assembly programming easier for developer, by providing a set of advanced features including symbol scopes, an expressions engine, big integer support, macro capability, numerous and accurate warning messages.

Its dynamic modular architecture enables Aasm to extend its set of features with plug-ins by taking advantages of dynamic libraries.

The input module supports Intel syntax (like nasm, tasm, masm, etc.). The x86 assembler module supports all opcodes up to P6 including MMX, SSE and 3DNow! extensions.

F-CPU and SPARC assembler modules are under development. Several output modules are available for ELF, COFF, IntelHex, and raw binary formats.

FIRE is a portable bootable cdrom based distribution with the goal of providing an immediate environment to perform forensic analysis, incident response, data recovery, virus scanning and vulnerability assessment.
Also provides necessary tools for live forensics/analysis on win32, sparc solaris and x86 linux hosts just by mounting the cdrom and using trusted static binaries available in /statbins.

- Just mount the filesystems that you want to scan and execute f-prot .
- Any filesystem you can mount, you can scan. mount and scan fat/ntfs/ext2/ext3/reiserfs partitions
- Scan your windows machines offline for virii that may not be detected with an "after the fact" anti-virus
- software installation.

SableVM is a robust, extremely portable, efficient, and specifications-compliant Java virtual machine that aims to be easy to maintain and to extend.
It features a state-of-the-art and efficient interpreter engine. Its source code is very accessible and easy to understand. It also has many robustness features that have been the object of careful design.
SableVM is a clean-room implementation of the publicly available specifications.

- Clean code, with minimal duplication, thanks to a set of easy-to-use indent-friendly m4 macros.
- Modularity, making it ideal for research into different implementations of VM components.
- Standards compliance (C, POSIX, JVM, JNI, JLS).

- Use of the latest GNU Classpath. We frequently synchronize with the GNU Classpath CVS.
- Portability (record time is 1 hour for a new port).
- Permissive LGPL license.
- A retargettable just-in-time compiler, SableJIT, which currently runs on ppc, x86, and sparc. The initial implementation is almost ready.
- Proper implementation of the invocation interface, which makes it possible to execute Java code from an application written in a different language. SableVM was designed so that extending it to follow the full specifications is straightforward, and allows for many virtual machines to be created, run, and destroyed within a single process (still not fully complete). This is something that the official Sun implementation does not provide.

The goal of this project is to build a suite of free software tools to build and execute .NET applications, including a C# compiler, assembler, disassembler, and runtime engine.

While the initial target platform was GNU/Linux, it is also known to run under Windows, Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, and MacOS X. The runtime engine has been tested on the x86, PowerPC, ARM, Sparc, PARISC, s390, Alpha, and IA-64 processors.

DotGNU Portable.NET is part of the DotGNU project, built in accordance with the requirements of the GNU Project.

DotGNU Portable.NET is focused on compatibility with the ECMA specifications for CLI. There are other projects under the DotGNU meta-project to build other necessary pieces of infrastructure, and to explore non-CLI approaches to virtual machine implementation.

Building

The three primary components of the system must be built in the following order: treecc, pnet, and then pnetlib.

You will need flex and bison to build DotGNU Portable.NET. We use flex 2.5.4 and bison 1.28. Some support is provided for the BSD version of yacc, but bison is recommended. Other versions of lex or yacc may not work.
