GNU Lightning 1.2
GNU Lightning is a library that generates assembly code at run time. more>>
GNU lightning is a library that generates assembly language code at run-time; it is very fast, making it ideal for Just-In-Time compilers, and it abstracts over the target CPU, as it exposes to the clients a standardized RISC instruction set inspired by the MIPS and SPARC chips.
GNU lightning 1.0 has been released and is usable in complex code generation tasks. The available backends cover the x86, SPARC and PowerPC architectures; the floating point interface is still experimental though, and developed for the x86 only.
There is also interested in adding more high-level features to lightning, such as a BURG-style tool, a tool to simplify the porting and make it less tedious (for example interfacing with Red Hats CGEN tool) or a standardized library to synthesize instruction sequences such as multiplications as shifts and adds, or divisions as multiplication by the inverse.

tthsum 1.1.0
tthsum generates and checks TTH checksums. more>>
tthsum generates and checks TTH checksums (root of the THEX hash tree). The Merkle Hash Tree is a hash construct that exhibits desirable properties for verifying the integrity of files and file subranges in an incremental or out-of-order fashion.
The tool uses the Tiger hash algorithm for both the internal and the leaf nodes, and has an interface identical to md5sum.
Enhancements:
- Converted tthsum to C (it was C++).
- Updated makefiles, added NMakefile for Windows, run nmake /f NMakefile on windows.
- Added BIG_ENDIAN support (tested on a SPARC).
- Removed -b functionality. The asterisk that did nothing didnt make sense.
- Made this Changelog a bit more readable.
- Fixed a bug where incorrect hashes were generated when using the console as input file. (The reads did not generate a multiple of 1024 bytes.)
- Added mmap(2) support (-m) (mapping 1.6MB at a time), default is read(2). YMMV.
- Added -p, -w, -V options (show progress, warn about improper digest lines, show version).
- Writing escaped and utf8-ified filenames to digest.

SableVM 1.12
SableVM is a portable Java virtual machine. more>>
SableVM is a robust, extremely portable, efficient, and specifications-compliant Java virtual machine that aims to be easy to maintain and to extend.
It features a state-of-the-art and efficient interpreter engine. Its source code is very accessible and easy to understand. It also has many robustness features that have been the object of careful design.
SableVM is a clean-room implementation of the publicly available specifications.
Main features:
- Clean code, with minimal duplication, thanks to a set of easy-to-use indent-friendly m4 macros.
- Modularity, making it ideal for research into different implementations of VM components.
- Standards compliance (C, POSIX, JVM, JNI, JLS).
- Three different interpreter engines, of which the basic switch interpreter is perfect for debugging, and the inlined-threaded interpreter is competitively fast. See [Execution Engines]?.
- A nice development environment, thanks to the above features. New contributors can start grokking it easily.
- Use of the latest GNU Classpath. We frequently synchronize with the GNU Classpath CVS.
- Portability (record time is 1 hour for a new port).
- Permissive LGPL license.
- A retargettable just-in-time compiler, SableJIT, which currently runs on ppc, x86, and sparc. The initial implementation is almost ready.
- Proper implementation of the invocation interface, which makes it possible to execute Java code from an application written in a different language. SableVM was designed so that extending it to follow the full specifications is straightforward, and allows for many virtual machines to be created, run, and destroyed within a single process (still not fully complete). This is something that the official Sun implementation does not provide.

DotGNU Portable.NET 0.7.2
DotGNU Portable.NET is a tools kit for .NET applications on non-Microsoft platforms. more>>
The goal of this project is to build a suite of free software tools to build and execute .NET applications, including a C# compiler, assembler, disassembler, and runtime engine.
While the initial target platform was GNU/Linux, it is also known to run under Windows, Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, and MacOS X. The runtime engine has been tested on the x86, PowerPC, ARM, Sparc, PARISC, s390, Alpha, and IA-64 processors.
DotGNU Portable.NET is part of the DotGNU project, built in accordance with the requirements of the GNU Project.
DotGNU Portable.NET is focused on compatibility with the ECMA specifications for CLI. There are other projects under the DotGNU meta-project to build other necessary pieces of infrastructure, and to explore non-CLI approaches to virtual machine implementation.
Building
The three primary components of the system must be built in the following order: treecc, pnet, and then pnetlib.
You will need flex and bison to build DotGNU Portable.NET. We use flex 2.5.4 and bison 1.28. Some support is provided for the BSD version of yacc, but bison is recommended. Other versions of lex or yacc may not work.
Each source package can be unpacked, built, and installed in the usual manner:
$ zcat<<less
