Pidentd 3.0.19

Pidentd 3.0.19

Pidentd v3 is a much improved version of the original Ident daemon both in terms of speed, code quality and features. more>>
Pidentd is a program that implements the RFC1413 identification server. It was very much inspired by Dan Bernsteins original authd (but unlike that program doesnt use netstat to get some of the information).
It uses the kernel information directly. (And is due to that fact a lot faster). Dan has now written another version of the authd daemon that uses his kstuff to read the kernel information.
Unlike that daemon, this will use only normally available kernel access functions (and is due to that more limited in the different machines it support).
Please note that this daemon used to be called pauthd but has changed name to better reflect what it does (and to conform to the new RFC).
Enhancements:
- Support for Solaris 10 on AMD64 was added and the 64-bit support was generalized for Solaris.
- A minor compilation problem in k_sunos510.c was fixed.

Solaris packaging tools 1.2.1

Solaris packaging tools 1.2.1

PkgTools are a set of utilities which are used to aid in the building of native Solaris packages. more>>
PkgTools are a set of utilities which are used to aid in the building of native Solaris packages. There are five separate utilities which are used to build packages, prepare a chroot() environment to install software into prior to building a package, copy package control scripts into place, a tool to aid in the starting of new projects, and a tool to check that packages are installed correctly.

Currently there are four tools in this set:

build-pkg
This is used to actually build the Solaris package, calling chroot-install if required.
chroot-install
A utility which creates an environment suitable for calling chroot() on and allowing the user to install software into it.
proj-template
A utility which asks the user questions and then copies files and directories from a specified template directory and performs macro expansion on them. This is designed to aid in the initial setup of the home directory of a new project.
simple-proj
A very similar utility to proj-template. However it does not ask questions and only deals with the setting up of a simple InstallPackage. This is useful when dealing with 3rd party software which just needs to have a number of package control scripts put into the package.
check-pkg
A utility which can be used to check to see if packages are installed correctly. It can also be given a pathname to check on which packages said pathname is a part of.

It should be noted that simple-proj is really proj-template wearing a different hat.

HA/FST 3.0.1

HA/FST 3.0.1

HA/FST is a high availability clustering tool for up to four Solaris nodes. more>>
HA/FST is a high availability clustering tool for up to four Solaris nodes. HA/FST project supports any application that can be managed from the command line.
HA/FST works similar to other HA tools. Heartbeats sent across a private network are monitored. If these heartbeats fail and subsequent checks across the public network fail then a failover can occur.
Additionally, each application is monitored at configurable intervals for soundness. Application failovers can trigger a restart or a failover.
HA/FST comes pre-equipped to support:
- Up to 4 nodes in cluster
- Application Fallback to Preferred Node
- Application Failover to a Preferred Node
- Remote Node Application Monitoring
- Event Notifications
- Network Interface Failover
- Apache
- NFS
- Oracle
- Samba
Enhancements:
Bug Fixes:
- Syntax error parsing -t option of fstmodapp prevented proper creation of application agents.

Main features:
- extemely fast implementation (main target)
- very secure
- ip-address based listen()ing
- supporting IPv6 addresses and resource records
- load ballancing via round robbin
- running under an low-privileged UID & GID
- running under little endian systems: (at least) Linux, Solaris, OpenBSD
- nice configuration syntax/easy to configure
- DNSd able to forward querys
- DNSd can run as caching only-server
Enhancements:
- This release includes a memory allocation bugfix in the xover command, a speed improvement (also in xover), and a source code cleanup.
