mysqmail-courier-logger project is a C parser that can log all the courier-imap traffic logs into a MySQL database.

DTC (Domain Technologie Control) can then measure the IMAP4 and POP3 traffic per user and per domain.

MySQL Activity Report is a valuable database tuning aid.

The MySQL Activity Report package is a tool to help MySQL database administrators to collect several database parameters and variables. These collected values can be used for server monitoring or performance tuning purposes.

The most important component of the MySQL Activity Report is mysqlard. This daemon collects the data from a MySQL server and stores these values in a Round Robin Database.

The mysqlard package also contains example graphing, cron and php scripts. The cron scripts can be used to keep archives of the generated graphics and the php script shows the generated graphics and tries to give some tuning tips.

Usage synopsis
Active SQL Backup can do incremental or full backups of MySQL database as often as needed. It is suitable both for the clients of web hosting companies who can not get access to MySQL update logs and for the host administrators. Backup syntax is:
shell> ./zmdb.pl -b
It stores backup files in BACKUP_DIR, specified in user_settings.txt, named like YYYY_MM_DD_hh_mm_ss.sql[.gz]. The backup files consist of series of SQL INSERT statements and may contain DELETE statements. The database scheme is stored in file database_name.create.sql. If gzip is available, then Active SQL Backup automatically uses it to compress stored data. The program can automatically send backed up files by email or upload to the other computer by FTP.
If the system fails, Active SQL Backup can restore the database. Restore syntax for incremental backups is:
shell> ./zmdb.pl -r
If you make full backups, restore syntax is the following:
shell> ./zmdb.pl -e < BACKUP_DIR/database_name.create.sql
shell> ./zmdb.pl -e < BACKUP_DIR/YYYY_MM_DD_hh_mm_ss.sql &
The first line is needed to restore database structure, and the second is the *most recent* data file. You may need to "gunzip" it before supplying to restore.
You can use the program to dump database structure
shell> ./zmdb.pl -s > structure_dump_file
or to process queries. The latter feature is useful if you need to process queries regularly, for example, to update membership status of the users of your online service. The syntax to execute SQL queries is:
shell> ./zmdb.pl -e < some_sql_file
Where format of some_sql_file is the same as with Mysql utility: SQL statements are separated by semicolon. Note that if you pass SELECT queries to Active SQL Backup, then no result will be returned.

Installation:
-copy all files to your web host
-use phpmyadmin or your mysql interface to run site.sql against your database.
-open site.xml and edit the database section with your database details.
-go to index.php and login with username of admin with a password of test.
-be sure to change the passwords for the admin and regular users.
Add this to your .htaccess file to prevent viewing of the xml config file.

Tvark is a network monitoring tool (sniffer) with a GUI front-end, and is tied to a MySQL database. Tvark is necessarily resource-intensive. It is a multithreaded, database utility for recording network traffic. As a consequence, it uses 100% of the CPU simply because of context-switching and packet handling. Additionally, using the database with Tvark on a high traffic network will generate a great deal of stored data quite rapidly, hence filtering options.
The database is set to record traffic based on the filtering options selected in the GUI. This will change in a future release so that database population will have its own filtering options without having to run the GUI.
What we are looking to provide is a forensic tool that meets two needs. First, an admin should be able to get a feel for traffic on the network by running the GUI, and be able to determine traffic of interest quickly and visually. Second, a simple database of traffic information allows us, and anyone else, to build forensic modules that display traffic information in a customized (and thereby useful) way.

- Avoid creating mutex before pthread_create to make some libcs happy.
