The AVI player is a plug-in for XMMS, giving it the ability to play Windows AVI (including DivX ;-)) and ASF files on your Linux or FreeBSD box.
You can simply add movies to your playlist and the plug-in will call aviplay to play the movie files. Many aviplay options are supported, such as fullscreen playback and true hardware acceleration on XFree86 4.x.x.
Enhancements:
- Included a stripped version of avifile 0.53.5 that compiles staticly into the plugin. This will make avi-xmms work no matter what avifile version you have installed on the system.
- Added wma and wmv support.

mod_filter allows you to filter output from other modules inside of Apache. This allows you to implement filters (think Swedish Chef, jive, etc.).

You can also use it to retailer output for your locale. This works with HTML documents, mod_perl, PHP, JServ, CGIs, and for that matter just about any sort of custom handler you might have.

INews is a system to write and publish newspapers on the internet.

INews is different, because:

* the newspaper has a traditional structure, with pages and articles distributed like in a paper newspaper.
* the newspaper is not published using HTML, but can be read with a java application.

INews is a complete system, composed by:

* a server application.
* an editor application, to write and publish editions of the newspaper.
* a reader application, to read the last edition of the newspaper on the internet.
* an administration application.

Purposes of the system are:

* speed and simplicity to write and publish the newspaper:
if the articles are ready as RTF documents (written with the most common word processors) and the pictures are ready, it should be a matter of minutes to publish the newspaper.
* to work in team to publish the newspaper.
* to keep an archive with all the articles, images and editions of the newspaper.
* to be open: all the articles and images are saved in the filesystem in a directory tree.

It is possible to build new parts types (like articles and images) and add them to the system.

libquran is a base library for reading the Holy Quran XML files provided by http://www.arabeyes.org. The main goal is to provide a data abstraction layer for any Holy Quran frontend application, no matter what sort of interface it provides.
The Quran project is aimed to be a comprehensive tool to navigate through texts of the Quran, play readings of selected verses, as well as other features.
libquran library should also cover multiple translations of the Quran.
libquran requires libexpat, libspeex and libogg.
qtquran requires qt-3.0.5 and libquran (libexpat, libspeex and libogg).
Enhancements:
- A major update, as many features have been added and many bugs have been fixed.
- These include searching support, a new language package architecture, and a new audio callback mechanism.

Play What I Mean project allows a user to, from a single commandline or terminal, enter a string, or list of strings, that represent what he/she wishes to have played by whatsoever media player he chooses, the default being MPlayer, and then having that particular item be found and played.
What this essentially means is that if I were to have a sudden hankering to listen to a particular song or video, lets say Ice Pick by The Pillows, which happens to be the song to a particular music video that I enjoy watching. Under the traditional methods of video viewing I would be stuck with two potential courses of action for playing this particular file:
- Change directories several times to that one folder somewhere that I "know" its in, or
- Point and Click my mouse until I find that same directory and then search through what could be countless files to find it.
Each of these prospective choices have their own inherent difficulties and ire. Using the commandline often requires alot of typing to arrive at the desired directory, often times nestled deep within the tree.
Once there your problems only multiply by the number of files you actually store in your "media" folder, try ls | moreing through a heavily populated folder looking for the name of that file you wanted to play sometime, it isnt too fun and further is a waste of my valuable time.
You may be thinking at this point that the second option, the graphical one, must be easier since its exciting, full of pictures, and frankly novel, I disagree. I may not be the best judge on this matter, seeing as how I cant see out of my right eye however, I feel that scanning through a large folder, or folders, full of files is quite a strain on the vision, and more importantly an unnescesary burden on what should be a simple matter.

HTML::TableExtract is a Perl module that simplifies the extraction of information from tables within HTML documents.
Tables, no matter how nested or clustered, can be targeted symbolically with column headers or by more specific depth and count information.
Each table is labeled in the first row with coordinates in terms of depth and count, which both start at 0. Some of the tables have headers in the second row; although in this example these header cells are in fact < th > tags, header cells can be either < th > or < td >. The remaining cells in the table indicate row and column information from that cell, along with the table coordinates: depth,count:row,column. Rows and columns begin at 0 as well, so the table label and headers, if present, will affect these cell coordinates.
In the illustrations of what is extracted from these tables, content in italics is notational in nature; it was not actually extracted from the tables. In particular, whenever headers are used for extraction, the order in which the headers were provided is noted by listing the headers, but the header row is not actually extracted from the target table.

Gnus is a flexible message reader running under GNU Emacs. Gnus supports reading and composing both news and mail. In addition, it is able to use a number of web-based sources as inputs for its groups.
The main Gnus goal is to provide the user with an efficient and extensible interface towards dealing with large numbers of messages, no matter the form they may have or wherever they may come from.
Gnus is a fully MIME-compliant and supports reading and composing messages using any charset that GNU Emacs supports.
