MyDNS 1.0.0
MyDNS is a native SQL-based DNS server. more>>
MyDNS is a free DNS server for UNIX. It was implemented from scratch and is designed to serve records directly from an SQL database (currently either MySQL or PostgreSQL).
Its primary objectives are stability, security, interoperability, and speed, though not necessarily in that order.
MyDNS does not include recursive name service, nor a resolver library. It is primarily designed for organizations with many zones and/or resource records who desire the ability to perform real-time dynamic updates on their DNS data via MySQL.
MyDNS starts and is ready to answer questions immediately, no matter how much DNS data you have in the database. It is very fast and memory-efficient. It includes complete documentation, including a manual and a FAQ.
MyDNS supports a few frills, including round robin DNS, dynamic load balancing, and outgoing AXFR for non-MyDNS nameservers.
MyDNS is licensed under the GNU General Public License
Enhancements:
- Changed PostgreSQL connect error message code. It will still try the Unix domain socket (not sure why I did that) but if all fails, it outputs the first error message, which is much more likely to make sense.
- Implemented David Phillips AIX patch.
- Implemented Petter Larssons ALIAS patches for mydnscheck and mydnsexport.
- Made sure all copyright notices included 2004.
- Fixed "undefined constant" and other strict error message stuff in contrib/admin.php.
- Fixed reference to "rr" (table name) in contrib/admin.php -- replaced with $rr_table_name.
Thanks to Harald Paulsen for finding this.

Cool Blue 1.0
Cool Blue is a desktop widget for SuperKaramba for system monitoring. more>>
Cool Blue is a desktop widget for SuperKaramba for system monitoring.
It has cool blue translucent background (which I made with help of Karbon14, Krita and the mighty Gimp) and displays everything I need (and probably what you need too).
It can interact with XMMS. Well, its a matter of personal taste, but I still like XMMS more than AmaroK...
Anyway, if you want, it should be easy changing it to use amaroK. Maybe even Ill do this if I have free time and appropriate mood.

Protux 0.20.3
Protux is a practical and powerfull multitrack digital audio suite for GNU/Linux. more>>
Protux (and not ProTux) is a practical and powerfull multitrack digital audio suite for GNU/Linux. It aims to be the most practical and one of the most powerful audio recording and editing tool around.
Protux uses another GUI interaction concept then most other applications. Instead of using buttons and menus, it makes use of the JMB (Jog Mouse Board) engine found in the mustux library.
With this concept, the mouse as a clicking device is almost abolished, but instead its only used as a pointing device. Smart keyboard key usage will perform the action you want to perform on the pointed object. Its very fast and intuative as well, at the moment you get used to it, which is a matter of hours!
This concept helps to make a very clean GUI, fast audio processing, and production!
Main features:
- Totally oriented to keyboard+mouse usage, without mouse clicks (JMB Engine)
- Non destructive editing
- Infinite (theoretically) number of tracks
- ALSA based, with transparent sound card buses mapping
- Project / Song Manager
- Real Time Filters
- Gain/Pan Curves
- Fades in/out, and auto cross-fades in clips
- Beautifull documentation/users guide in Latex/Ps/Pdf format
- Mp3/Ogg Import
- Export in PRAF (native format) or Wav
- Support for any sample rate (minimum 32000) at 16 bits (only for now)
- In/Out Buses Monitoring
- Practical Simultaneous record-and-playback
- Very fast peak (Audio Representation) building and drawing
- The best zooming technique known.
- Precision Tuner (for guitar player, for example)
- Clean (very clean!) interface
- Released under the GPL

INews 0.8
INews is a system to write and publish newspapers on the internet. more>>
INews is a system to write and publish newspapers on the internet.
INews is different, because:
* the newspaper has a traditional structure, with pages and articles distributed like in a paper newspaper.
* the newspaper is not published using HTML, but can be read with a java application.
INews is a complete system, composed by:
* a server application.
* an editor application, to write and publish editions of the newspaper.
* a reader application, to read the last edition of the newspaper on the internet.
* an administration application.
Purposes of the system are:
* speed and simplicity to write and publish the newspaper:
if the articles are ready as RTF documents (written with the most common word processors) and the pictures are ready, it should be a matter of minutes to publish the newspaper.
* to work in team to publish the newspaper.
* to keep an archive with all the articles, images and editions of the newspaper.
* to be open: all the articles and images are saved in the filesystem in a directory tree.
It is possible to build new parts types (like articles and images) and add them to the system.

xfpt is a program that reads a file of plain text that contains relatively simple markup, and outputs an XML file. more>>
xfpt is a program that reads a file of plain text that contains relatively simple markup, and outputs an XML file.
xfpt project is intended to simplify the management of XML data. It is not a program that attempts to turn a plain text document into XML. Markup within text is introduced by ampersand characters, but is otherwise "soft".
You can define what follows the ampersand, for example, &" to generate a "quote" element. There is also a macro facility that allows for higher level concepts such as chapters, displays, tables, etc.
Installation:
It should just be a matter of typing
./configure
make
make install
to get youself an installed xfpt command. There is a man page that lists the
command arguments. However, the main documentation is provided only as a PDF
file in the doc directory. The xfpt source that was used to create the XML that
in turn was used to generate the PDF is also included. You can get rid of xfpt
by "make uninstall".

Play What I Mean 0.09
Play What I Mean plays media files on a local machine based on a given set of terms found within the filenames. more>>
Play What I Mean project allows a user to, from a single commandline or terminal, enter a string, or list of strings, that represent what he/she wishes to have played by whatsoever media player he chooses, the default being MPlayer, and then having that particular item be found and played.
What this essentially means is that if I were to have a sudden hankering to listen to a particular song or video, lets say Ice Pick by The Pillows, which happens to be the song to a particular music video that I enjoy watching. Under the traditional methods of video viewing I would be stuck with two potential courses of action for playing this particular file:
- Change directories several times to that one folder somewhere that I "know" its in, or
- Point and Click my mouse until I find that same directory and then search through what could be countless files to find it.
Each of these prospective choices have their own inherent difficulties and ire. Using the commandline often requires alot of typing to arrive at the desired directory, often times nestled deep within the tree.
Once there your problems only multiply by the number of files you actually store in your "media" folder, try ls | moreing through a heavily populated folder looking for the name of that file you wanted to play sometime, it isnt too fun and further is a waste of my valuable time.
You may be thinking at this point that the second option, the graphical one, must be easier since its exciting, full of pictures, and frankly novel, I disagree. I may not be the best judge on this matter, seeing as how I cant see out of my right eye however, I feel that scanning through a large folder, or folders, full of files is quite a strain on the vision, and more importantly an unnescesary burden on what should be a simple matter.
Main features:
- Nestable Playlist support
- Multi-string arguments
- Transparent command option passing
- Cache for faster access of frequently played files
- Graphical configure

libjackasyn 0.11
libjackasyn is a library that allows you to use programs written for the OSS sound API with the JACK audio server. more>>
libjackasyn is a library that allows you to use programs written for the OSS sound API with the JACK audio server. libjackasyn is a library that can be used for two purposes.
First it can be loaded via the LD_PRELOAD variable, turning OSS applications automatically into JACK-aware applications.
Second, it can be used to link against the program during build time, making it trivial to turn an OSS aware sound application into a JACK aware sound application in a short time.
libjackasyn got its name from the asynchronous manner in which it communicates with the JACK server, which means by using libjackasyn you will introduce an additional delay exactly the size of one JACK audiobuffer (1024 samples or 44 ms with the JACK default settings).
This delay can be reduced by reducing the JACK buffersize. It should not matter for sound generating applications, but it might introduce phasing effects when doing sound processing.
Enhancements:
- fixed RDONLY and WRONLY handling
- act upon jack shutdown, allows to switch between JACK and non-JACK operation
- several small bug fixes
- debug compilation optional

HTML::TableExtract 2.07
HTML::TableExtract is a Perl module that simplifies the extraction of information from tables within HTML documents. more>>
HTML::TableExtract is a Perl module that simplifies the extraction of information from tables within HTML documents.
Tables, no matter how nested or clustered, can be targeted symbolically with column headers or by more specific depth and count information.
Each table is labeled in the first row with coordinates in terms of depth and count, which both start at 0. Some of the tables have headers in the second row; although in this example these header cells are in fact < th > tags, header cells can be either < th > or < td >. The remaining cells in the table indicate row and column information from that cell, along with the table coordinates: depth, count:row, column. Rows and columns begin at 0 as well, so the table label and headers, if present, will affect these cell coordinates.
In the illustrations of what is extracted from these tables, content in italics is notational in nature; it was not actually extracted from the tables. In particular, whenever headers are used for extraction, the order in which the headers were provided is noted by listing the headers, but the header row is not actually extracted from the target table.
Enhancements:
- A subtable slicing bug and an hrow() attachment bug were fixed.
- Tests were added.

URI 1.35
URI is Uniform Resource Identifiers (absolute and relative). more>>
URI is Uniform Resource Identifiers (absolute and relative). This module implements the URI class. Objects of this class represent "Uniform Resource Identifier references" as specified in RFC 2396 (and updated by RFC 2732).
A Uniform Resource Identifier is a compact string of characters that identifies an abstract or physical resource. A Uniform Resource Identifier can be further classified as either a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or a Uniform Resource Name (URN). The distinction between URL and URN does not matter to the URI class interface. A "URI-reference" is a URI that may have additional information attached in the form of a fragment identifier.
An absolute URI reference consists of three parts: a scheme, a scheme-specific part and a fragment identifier. A subset of URI references share a common syntax for hierarchical namespaces. For these, the scheme-specific part is further broken down into authority, path and query components. These URIs can also take the form of relative URI references, where the scheme (and usually also the authority) component is missing, but implied by the context of the URI reference. The three forms of URI reference syntax are summarized as follows:
< scheme >:< scheme-specific-part >#< fragment >
< scheme >://< authority >< path >?< query >#< fragment >
< path >?< query >#< fragment >
The components into which a URI reference can be divided depend on the scheme. The URI class provides methods to get and set the individual components. The methods available for a specific URI object depend on the scheme.
