Knights aims to be the ultimate chess resource on your computer. Written for the K Desktop Environment, its designed to be both friendly to new chess players and functional for Grand Masters.

The Ace of Penguins is a set of Unix/X solitaire games based on the ones available for Windows(tm) but with a number of enhancements that my wife says make my versions better.

The latest version includes clones of freecell, golf, mastermind, merlin, minesweeper, pegged, solitaire, taipei (with editor!), and thornq (by Martin Thornquist).

Installation:

To install the binaries tar, do this as user root (other platforms are similar):

cd /usr/bin/X11
tar xvfz /tmp/ace-1.2.linux.tar.gz
tar cf - libcards.so* | (cd /usr/local/lib ; tar xf -)
rm libcards.so*

You will need to run ldconfig to notice the new shared libraries.

Then you can open a new shell window and type the name of the program you want at the command line to run it.

Dpsyco is a automated system to distribute system configurations to several computers. It is written mainly for the Debian distribution but should be portable (without too much difficulties) to other distributions or Unixes as well.
It consists of a number of shell scripts to perform the desired actions. With it you can handle users, add ssh-public-keys, patch the system, update things using cfengine, install files (overriding other package files), and more.
Main features:

The Library of Assorted Spiffy Things was originally designed as a companion library to Eterm.
However, it contains many features that other projects may find useful, so it has been broken out into its own library.
Features include thorough debugging and memory tracking engines, various string manipulation functions, and a flexible config file parsing engine.
Enhancements:
- The string class is now both an interface and an implementation, so parallel implementations (e.g., a glib string wrapper) can be created.
- Detection of Imlib2 support and a pixmap leak when it was disabled have been fixed.
- Fixes have been made for gcc4/newer autotools.
- This release also contains a fix for CVE-2006-0224, a buffer overflow which could lead to privilege escalation in setuid/setgid apps using LibASTs configuration engine.

Call of Combat is a 3d online, multiplayer, wargame where you control an infantry squad in WWII.

Free real-time multiplayer squad based WW2 infantry simulation. Play as Axis or Allies on over 50 user submitted battlefields controlling your squad of 4 soldiers and working with up to 30 other players to defend, attack or annihilate the enemy.

If you survive youll gain promotion points that will eventualy gain you higher rank, respect, and the responsibility to command other players. Join a Clan (Army Groups) and battle alongside your friends for first place honors.

Full stat tracking of individual and team wins and losses, kills and deaths, etc creates a persistent record of each player and clan within the game and more importantly tracks your legacy from green recruit to super soldier.

This game started as a clone of 2ams Chain of Command.

Luck of the Draw is a little application to perform draws.
Luck of the Draw allows to add entries for a draw, and have one or more entries drawn at random. Draws have a number of options so they can be customized to fit your needs, and they can be saved into a file.
I created this little application for the Mac user group in Quebec City, where we have prizes for a few lucky winners at the end of every monthly meeting.
Main features:
- Two levels of randomness.
- Support for registered or non-registered entry draws.
- Localized in french and english.

Chess Training Tools is a collection of chess training tools. It includes a chess visualization trainer that teaches chess visualization by drilling you on the color of a particular square, and also on your ability to tell if two squares are the same color, if two (or three) squares are on the same diagonal, if two squares are a knight move apart, or if two squares are two knight moves apart.
This is a program that I wrote for my own use to improve my chess visualization ability. I decided to share it with other players, since I believe they can benefit from it. It basically helps you remember what color the squares are, how the pieces move, and so on, all in your head.
It does so by posing you various excercises that, if practiced every day, will let you visualize positions without the aid of a board.
I use this tool every day. You may want to use it the way I do, or you could develop your own method of training. I work my way through the panels, doing 20 of each excercise. I proceed Color->Same Color->Diagonal 2->Diagonal 3->Knight->Knight 2->Mate.
Then, after all of that I play a game against Vince. Start slow, by either lagging the display by one ply, or by blanking out one quadrant. Work your way up to the 7 ply and four quadrants.
