FrostWire 4.10.9 Beta
FrostWire is a Gnutella client according to the open standards of an international community. more>>
FrostWire is a community driven project based on source code released by LimeWire LLC to create and maintain a Gnutella client according to the open standards of an international community.
We are busy building a website and creating a new design for the FrostWire Gnutella client. Since LimeWire is a registered trademark we cannot distribute the client under its old name.
For that reason, we are looking for creative p2p fans that would like to create skins, design logos or websites. However we are also trying to get more people working on the Java core, the interface and the C++ windows installer (based on GnucDNA and NSIS). If you are interested in maintaining LimeWires legacy get involved!
We are trying to maintain good relations to the LimeWire project. The FrostWire team (all of whom are still members of the LimeWire open-source community) regrets LimeWires decision to start filtering content on Gnutella.
However, we will continue supporting LimeWire development and do not wish to make fundamental changes to the LimeWire core itself. FrostWire will not break with LimeWires design philosophy.
However the FrostWire project will never offer a PRO version. The FrostWire project will always remain strictly non-profit and free of any bundled software, including any ads or nags.

ProjectCenter 0.4.2
ProjectCenter is GNUsteps official integrated development environment. more>>
ProjectCenter is GNUsteps integrated developement environment (IDE). It is based in part on NeXTs original Project Builder. It assists you in starting new projects and lets you manage your project files using a intuitive and well ordered graphical user interface.
Serg Stoyan is the current maintainer of ProjectCenter. Please contact him if you would like to submit a bug report or volunteer to improve ProjectCenter. The original author of ProjectCenter, Philippe C.D. Robert, no longer actively contributes to the application.
Over a decade ago, NeXT Computer Inc. revolutionized application development by making two great developer tools available for their operation system OPENSTEP: Project Builder and Interface Builder. These applications made application development much easier and faster and took NeXT ahead of the other computer manufacturers and operating system vendors.
Supporting the project types Application, Bundle, Library, Tool, and Aggregate, ProjectCenter automatically creates the project makefiles and aids you in the process of editing, project compilation, package building and debugging. In the future, built-in CVS support will be available, too.
ProjectCenter is a very useable application, but is still evolving. Support is there for project creation and inspection as well as basic Makefile generation. Using the Application project type, you can already create graphical applications using ProjectCenter and Gorm in conjunction.
GNUstep is a free, standard, object-oriented, cross-platform development environment meant to provide generalized visual interface design, a cohesive user interface, and look good as well. GNUstep is based on and completely compatible with the OpenStep specification developed by NeXT (now Apple Computer Inc.).
GNUstep is a whole load of things, but primarily a framework (libraries, tools, applications) for developing software. It is not a not a window manager. And the libraries are not used by WindowMaker at present, although WindowMaker shares a similar look.
At no stage will you ever run GNUstep - you will run applications and tools and will make use of its services. At some point you may well find packages distributed as GNUstep systems in the way that you get GNU/Linux systems packaged today. Look at Simply GNUstep, the GNUstep Live CD, and Project Backbone for examples.
The ProjectCenter will hopefully consist of the following capabilities somewhen in the midterm future:
* Project management
This includes versioning control, automatic makefile generation, file management etc.
* Source code editing facilities
A builtin editor will be available in a future release. This has not main priority, though.
* Debugging fascilities
A builtin debugger will be added to ProjectCenter as soon as possible!
* Documentation automation help
Automatic documentation generation using autogsdoc or another tool will be introduced later.
* UML-based case tool

Camaelon 0.1
Camaelon is a GNUstep theme engine. more>>
Camaelon is a theme engine for GNUstep.
While very good when you works with it, it looks a bit old with the current playskool interfaces avalaible everywhere. So I wrote this theme bundle, Camaelon, with the idea of providing a fresher look, while remaining good on term of useability.
Actually its not very configurable (you need to change values in the source code for gradients/colors).
Installation
You need to patch some files in the GNUstep -gui sources. Go in the gui/Source directory of your local GNUsteps sources, and apply the provided patch file, themes.patch :

DeadCD 0.4
DeadCD is a minimalistic Linux livecd, based on the Debian distribution. more>>
DeadCD is a minimalistic Linux livecd, based on the Debian distribution. Its goal is to provide small - the maximum size is 100 MB -, fast and feature-rich versatile system.
DeadCD is minimalistic Linux live CD based on Debian that provides a small (at most 100MB), fast, feature-rich, and versatile system. It features software for both the command line and X, making it quite usable for different configurations. It features software such as Mozilla Firefox, MPlayer, Sylpheed, irssi, centericq, OpenSSH, and thttpd.
Enhancements:
- UnionFS 1.0.5 - yes, DeadCD is probably the first distro to use UnionFS for 2.6 kernels.
- Minor rewrite of mountpoint autodetection
- Fixed minor issue with initrd-tools
- Nearly doubled list of cards in video.lst
- If you do not have a config, startx will run xconf first
- Added "exec, suid, dev" options to mountpoints
- Fixed looking monitors up in database
- Add nmap
- Add 855resolution
- Add deadinstall to deadtools - HDD installation is now possible easily, however needs still some work
- Add homeimage=hda1/root:home.img boot-option
- Add rdesktop
- Add patch
- Add multiple application wizards to DeadEasy
- Add ssl support to msmtp
- Add hdparm
- Some attempt to get boot from USB cd-rom working - possibly wont make it, but at least a good start

furious_tv 1.4
furious_tv is a set of tools to take XMLTV TV listings and enable a UNIX system to automatically record programs of a TV card. more>>
furious_tv is a set of tools to take XMLTV TV listings and enable a UNIX system to automatically record programs off of a TV card. It is written in C and uses a SAX parser for maximum speed and efficiency.
Enhancements:
- This version of furious_tv fixes a few miscellaneous bugs in the code and also adds support for non-US TV listings. Apparently in countries other than the US, the channel numbers vary a great deal (even in small areas), so non-US users needed a way to change channel numbers and have those changes persist when new listings were loaded into the database.
- Version 1.4 adds an option to ftv_listings ("-r") that instructs the parser to use the channel numbers in the listings to override the channel numbers in the database. This is really only a good idea if the listings probably have the correct channel numbers (e.g. US listings obtained using XMLTVs tv_grab_na grabber).
- One last point to keep in mind is that the channel numbers are preserved by looking at the channel names, so the channel names should not be changed manually because then ftv_listings will not recognize the channel as already in the database.

PwManager 1.2.4
PwManager is a secure password manager. more>>
PwManager is a secure password manager.
With PwManager you can easily manage your passwords. PwManager saves your passwords blowfish-encrypted in one file, so you have to remember only one master-password instead of all. Instead of the master-password you can use a chipcard, so you dont have to remember a password to access the list.
Main features:
- Manage passwords the convenient way with the support of password categories, five information columns and an additional comment field.
- Locking mechanism to prevent strangers from looking at your passwords while you are away and not using PwManager.
- Deep-Locking mechanism to encrypt all security critical data, write it to disk and delete it in memory. This enables you to enjoy maximum security with almost no loss of useability.
- The integrated KWallet emulation enables all applications on your KDE Desktop to access the PwManager database in an easy, flexible and secure way.
- A fairly good seaching and sorting mechanism to find entries very fast.
- Chipcard (smartcard) interface. With the chipcard you can replace the "master-password" to easily access all your passwords with a "key-card".
- Printing support to easily print out a complete list of all your passwords.
- System-Tray (kicker) icon to enable the user to access PwManager very fast.
- GPasman and KPasman interface to import and export your data to and from these file formats.

Rippy the Aggregator 0.13
Rippy the Aggregator is a lightweight RSS aggregator written in vanilla PHP. more>>
Rippy the Aggregator project is a lightweight RSS aggregator written in vanilla PHP.
There are several Web sites (Slashdot, for instance) that I visit regularly or semi-regularly to check for the latest news; there are also several more (like, say, the EFF) that post regular updates and that Id like to visit regularly, or that would like to have me visit regularly, but which I dont visit regularly because its just too much work to keep track of all of them, and too disappointing when I remember to check and find nothing new. I even run a Web site of my own which Id like to have people check regularly - but since I dont spend time making the rounds of my friends similar sites, I cant expect them to visit mine. Rippy the Aggregator aims to solve all these problems.
There is a standard called RSS, for Web sites to publish their updates in a machine-readable format. An appropriate client can quickly visit all the Web sites youre interested in, download their updates, and present you with a customized list of all the newest items. Most "blogging", "portal", and "content management" software already generates RSS files (although its operators may be unaware of that!), and there are services like Syndic8 that compile lists of RSS "feeds". So it only remains to get an appropriate client.
That presents a problem. I hacked an RSS output onto my Web-site updating scripts, so I had that aspect covered, but then I wanted to start reading others RSS feeds, and I discovered that the client programs you can get on the Web mostly suck. Some of them are Windows-only, so those are right out. I saw one in Java that looked pretty good, but its Web site didnt provide a way to download it except through some kind of weird Hot-Buzzy-Java-Scripted-Auto-Virus-Install-Plugin-Thing - there was no actual file. I did eventually find its source code, but it required third-party libraries.
Then I looked at several RSS readers that were written in Perl or PHP and designed to run as scripts on a Web site. Those had possibilities, but they required multiple third-party libraries (Perl) or an SQL server and compiled-in PHP modules that most people dont have (PHP).
The best attempt I found was one written in Python, but in order to make it run I had to start not one but two background server daemons, which would make it tricky to use on my office computer at school. There are Web sites that provide the service of RSS reading, but they all require registration, cookies, JavaScript, etc. I couldnt find an RSS reader (or "aggregator", as theyre called) that I could just download and have it work. Thus, it was necessary to create one: enter Rippy!
The name "Rippy the Aggregator" refers to an Arrogant Worms song about a cute, cuddly little alligator who goes "chomp, chomp, chomp," down in the bottom of the swamp, swamp, swamp. Abram Hindle has suggested that Rippy the Aggregator should go "grep, grep, grep," down in the bottom of the net, net, net. Anyone wanna write the rest of the song?
Main features:
- Cute name
- Written in PHP (needs 4.3.0 or above)
- Doesnt require any compiled-in optional libraries that dont ship with PHP
- Stores its cached data in flat files, no database needed
- Freely licensed and customizable under the GNU GPL version 2
Enhancements:
- Parser ruggedness and general stability were improved, and support was added for setting options like user agent and proxying when acting as an HTTP client.

SVGpage 0.4
SVGpage is a pyGTK application to view and convert to and from vector (SVG) graphics. more>>
SVGpage project is a pyGTK application to view and convert to and from vector (SVG) graphics. In addition to SVG files the application is able to open PNG, GIF, JPG (including Exif), BMP and XPM. It can save as SVG, PNG or JPG.
If you are looking for an SVG editor capable of creating fine, crisp curves and gradients, youve got the wrong program. For simple graphics SVGpage can convert to SVG and render something very close.
For involved images, like pictures, you wind up with a PAINTERLY EFFECT. This effect can be very distinctive and attractive and is sought after by many. Sort of a good, single-click "GIMPressionist." So if thats what youre looking for, youve found it.
SVGpage can also take your SVG images and convert them to a PNG or a JPG. Even resize them. It uses Bilinear Interpolation and does an excellent job.
Enhancements:
- Fixes linking eror(wrong version in symlink) for the binary running on Ubuntu.
- Binary no longer startd from a script, therefore the "what do you want to do with this executable text file" dialog on Ubuntu is bypassed.
- UI layout change to accommodate window dressings on Ubuntu and other distros. All options now fit correctly.
