PyDBDesigner is a free relational database modeling tool that is planned to be able to design both logical and physical models similarly to Erwin(c) and PowerDesigner.

Its goal is to provide a useful toolset that allows developers analysts and database designers to design and develop databases from the verbal model to the schemas and SQL scripts.

There is no such a tool is available as a freeware. There is a project called DbDesigner, but it seems to be discontinued and its functionality is not enough for modeling (and the concept behind it seems to be weak).

The concept is to implement ER logical and physical modeling paradigm as correctly as possible, meanwhile creating a tool that is useful as soon as it is possible. So the development concept is that features are added rapidly, but carefully (trying to leave space to the features that come later).

For example, the "type" class is good enough to implement data domains, however, the code that actually creates domains using GUI is not implemented. The "type" attribute of the properties uses this object, so adding domains to attribute types is easy.

Sequence Analysis project is a collage of coding projects which I have written over the past several years for various clients in my work as a bioinformatics consultant.

These clients have graciously allowed me to release these works into the public domain as freeware for Macintosh OS X in order to promote the platform and to encourage migration from Classic.

The upper window panel can hold several sequences, which are both editable and selectable. The tabs in the lower analysis panel try to keep up with the current sequence selection to provide immediate feedback. The selection is used in some modules as only the portion being analyzed for other modules i.e. Digest is used to determine if enzymes cut in the in or outside of the selection.

Most commonly available sequence formats have been reverse engineered. You can also access a sequences from the NCBI via its GID or UID. This currently cannot be done from behind a firewall.

Most of the analyses are simple enough that they are obvious to use, Composition, pI. Others could stand some documenation i.e. Pairwise and Primer Design. The Publish tab uses a string to control the layout. Click on the Legend button for some help.

gvSIG is a tool oriented to manage geographic information. gvSIG project is characterized by a user-friendly interface, with a quick access to the most usual raster and vector formats. In the same view it includes local as well as remote data through a WMS or WFS source.

It is aimed at users of geographic information, whether professionals or civil servants (city councils, councils, regional councils or ministries) from any part of the world ( at the moment its interface is in Spanish, Valencian, English, Basque, Czech , French, German, Italian and Portuguese), in addition to being freeware.

Given its freeware nature (open source) it is highly interesting for the international community of developers and, in particular, for university settings due to its R&D&I component. In fact, special emphasis has been placed on the expansion of the project so that potential developers can easily expand the functions of the application, as well as develop completely new applications from the libraries used in gvSIG (as long as they comply with the GPL license).

VideoLinux is a Linux distribution that focuses on video encoding and conversion.
Out of the box, it provides the tools a professional would need to encode, convert, and edit video in various formats.
VideoLinux also uses Wine to incorporate pre-installed Windows applications.
VideoLinux is a new Distribution I am putting together, it will be focused entirely on DVD Backups, Video Encoding / Transcoding, DVD Authoring, Format Conversion and hopefully pretty much anything else you want to do with Video.

DreamPlayer is a Linux-console multi format player. Its the first Linux console multimedia player supports TwinVQ, and Wave (for now). There is planned version for Windows in the future. Player uses free decoder library known as TwinVQ SDK by NTT.

You probably have a question Why Ive decided to write a text console program. The answer is very simple. As you can read in About Me I just love to listen music, especially during working. Yes, I know there is a Linux native multimedia player called XMMS working in the X Window environment. But X Window uses much more resources than my program, and XMMS arent better. So I wanted to create a small player with big abilities. The first: I did by using text console environment, the second: Im on ncurses based interface to make the player more useful. Additionally my player is available as freeware on the GNU GPL and as an Open Source. So you can use my code, change as you wish, but just write that the original code is mine

SDCC is a freeware, retargettable, optimizing ANSI-C compiler. The current version targets Intel 8051-based MCUs, the Zilog Z80, and the DS390. Targets for the Microchip PIC and Amtel AVR series are under development, and the compiler can be retargeted for other 8 bit MCUs or PICs.
The entire source code for the compiler is distributed under GPL. SDCC uses ASXXXX and ASLINK, a freeware, retargettable assembler & linker. SDCC has extensive MCU (8051)-specific language extensions, which lets it utilize the underlying hardware effectively.
SDCC includes a source-level debugger/simulator and can generate debug info for the NoICE debugger.
